I don't even know what happened.

In short, it started with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD not burning properly, so I tried to repair it, which didn't work. The recorded stuff was on there, but I couldn't encode it.

I then chose to uninstall Google Earth (installed on Nov. 30th) because I couldn't figure out how to get snapshots to appear, and then I also installed Google Toolbar and Simple Adblock for Internet Explorer since I wasn't using Internet Explorer.

However, in order for the Roxio repair for finish, I had to restart the PC, so I waited for a download to finish and restarted the PC.

Well, when I restarted, I couldn't use Mozilla anymore (I'm on IE right now), and I got the following:

I then get a Mozilla crashed window, so I don't know what's going on.
IE works, but when I first open it, I get some message about the original toolbar being corrupted by a program or something and it's using the default Google search engine.

I tried a System Restore, which worked, but now all of my file folders are locked. I can still access them and their content, but I can't save things in them, which is why I am unable to provide screenshots here.

I'll probably end up undoing it, but the only way I can see to fix everything is to reformat my computer.

    Help?

My user folder was set to read-only because my mom and I were trying to figure out how to make it so my documents wouldn't show on her computer (in case someone else used it) and went to the wrong place. We wanted Control Panel > Network and Internet > Homegroup, but instead, she right clicked on my user folder and accidentally set it to read only.

When she tried to cancel, it wouldn't leave and the window kept coming up.
So she clicked the read-only box and clicked okay. A message came up regarding administrator permission to continue, but instead of clicking continue, I clicked cancel, because I thought it was unnecessary.

I guess what happened is that all of the files until that point had gotten successfully set to read-only.

    Anyway, this can be locked.
