Just signed onto my laptop to find my desktop empty, no wallpaper (just a black backround) and no files at all in their respective libiaries. I found all my stuff fine, just had to search the HDD for it, but still, very odd. :/
Funny thing is it did happen before, but restarting my lappy fixed it so I paid no attention. This time tho, restarting didn't do squat, which is what's really worrying me. My laptop is coming 8/9 years old tho, I need a new one anyways. Scan I first priority, tho I turned my lappy off for now, I got really creeped out by it xD
If it's a black screen and no files are showing it sounds like it's loading up in safe mode. Did you happen to notice if startup programs that typically load, didn't? Safe mode can be initiated if your computer/laptop isn't shut down properly. It could have been activated on accident. Next time you startup, mash f8 until you get a screen that talks about safe mode. From there choose either start windows normally or last known good configuration.
Ah, thanks @Nights See, I would do that, but my laptop screen has been broken for a while (I use a HDMI to see the screen, which begs to question why I have a laptop lol) so the only time I can see the screen is when the log in feature. I just really need a new laptop lol xD I, erm, did :P
