I don't even like it in IM and definatly in forums. I hate seeing it on a text message I get, which most of my friends are notorious for it. I find it so freaking annoying, like a few more keystrokes will kill you. No it won't! For Example, 4 eva...forever. that is 5 strokes to 7, that whole second that is gained.

Haha, sometimes I'm reluctant to even use those.

Now, when I try to type using internet lingo, I'm actually slower!

I hate those commercials where it has that girl talking in IM lingo. I want to go into the TV and slap her.

TISNF! (it took me like, 2 minutes to try and type that out correctly) Ah, shut up.

IM Lingo does serve its purpose to shorten down text messages on phones and such. I really have no reason to use it ever, but I can see it helpful there since phones are so awkward to tele-text to others with long words, even if personally I still type it all out. There are ways people abbreviate things in IM speech that isn't so bad, but I just find myself unable to take someone seriously on forums or chat where they do this other than the 'ftw' 'etc' 'brb' and some other things. I feel biased in saying it but they just seem to have lower intelligence automatically if that is how they type to others; especially if it is that Aol dreaded capital letter speech with misspellings galore in it and 30 exclamation points at the end.

If I were a teacher I would never accept a paper from a student with IM lingo on it unless it was a research paper on explaining IM lingo to others. I have no idea why teachers can't crack down on it other than a lazy administration that says parents will gripe if their dumb kids don't pass just because they can't spell things out properly. It's a real shame. When the kids get to the real world, hopefully they get the smack of reality they need by failing to get jobs when they write that crap on their applications.

probably the only im lingo would be 'Wtf', but that is needed if you post most actively in the spamzone and in the random family. i also use pwn, but the owrd has grown on me. i cant stop it.

i go against it otherwise on forums. i understand it all, but i still hate it.

and in real life like in reports... just no. no.

I agree with you there. On fourms, it's no good at all, but otherwise it's okay to use, instead of reports and stuff (as you already said).
