At this point I am totally sick of fighting with the damn thing. I think my mother might just end up buying me a new one.

Anyone wanna recommend a new computer for me? Because I dislike hogging a computer in the school computer lab all day.

Home, mostly. I use it for school stuff and art stuff and KHVChorus stuff. And the internet. I use a few emulators, but not enough to need any sort of gaming computer.

The old one was 500gigs of memory with an i5 processor, if that means anything.

I've no goddamn idea. I've sent it back to the shop for now, but I doubt they can fix it.

Software problems can be fixed (99.99% of the time) by just reformatting. If it's a hardware problem it may be more costly, and you should then consider just buying a new one (e.g. if it's $300 to fix your current one, you may want to put that towards a new computer, if you're not poor like me).

Otherwise I'm happy to look at computers for you. A few questions:
    1. How do you feel about buying online?
    2. Do you have a monitor right now?
    3. Price range (e.g. I'll spend up to $700, but obviously I'd like to save if possible)

How much you looking or willing to spend on one?

EDIT: i'll just let Misty take over, if you lived in the UK i'd butt in but I am not best at the prices.

Pretty sure it's a hardware thing. It keeps like... eating the harddrive. I've gone through three of them at this point.

    1) If I was at home, I'd be fine with online. The problem is that I'm at school, so I kinda need it now. So I'll probs be getting it from Best Buy or maybe WalMart. However I might look online first before actually buying.
    2) Nope. It's a laptop I had, and a laptop I'm after.
    3) Cheap would be good, but up to about 500$ is probably about right.

Ahh okay, didn't realize it was a laptop. Then you might be better off buying a new one, because of their proprietary & small form factors it can get very expensive to do much else than switch out the hard drive or add some RAM.

I looked on Best Buy for like three minutes and it turned up these, I made sure the processor and hard drive were equal (if not better) to what you had. There's probably way more but these all look solid.

They have similar specs and I know a lot of laptop decisions can come down to which keyboard & touchpad you like better, so looking in person might be a wise choice.

Well, I looked in the store when I was there earlier, but I didn't spend much time on it.
Though I quite like the look of that Lenovo one...

Well, I'll see what my mother has to say (since she's the one paying and all) and I'll drag my roommate to go with me later. Thanks Misty. I'm really no good with technology despite being an internet addict.

Sure thing! If you find one in the store you like, I'll be happy to look it over and make sure it's good. :]

Well, since I need it for school, yea, she would pay.

    HOWEVER.
Today I got my old computer back. The repair guy put in a temporary fix for it, but Idk how long it'll last. Probably a few months. So more than likely a new computer will be a Christmas present if anything, at this point.

ALTHOUGH I LOST ALL MY STUFF AGAIN. At least it was only a weeks worth this time.
