As you may not know, April 20th is the 8th anniversary of the horrible massacre at Columbine Highschool. A terrible tragedy that left 11 students and one teacher dead and wounded 24. The predators were Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Columbine Seniors at the age of 18 attacked a school of around 1,000. The aim of the killings are still not known, but most people say it was due to their addicition to the game Doom. But the families disagree.
I would like to take the time to mourn and to the families and the former students:
    Rachel Scott
    Richard Castaldo
    Daniel Rohrbough
    Sean Graves
    Lance Kirklin
    Michael Johnson
    Mark Taylor
    Anne-Marie Hochhalter
    Brian Anderson
    Patti Nielson
    Stephanie Munson
    Dave Sanders
    Evan Todd
    Kyle Velasquez
    Patrick Ireland
    Daniel Steepleton
    Makai Hall
    Steven Curnow
    Kasey Ruegsegger
    Cassie Bernall
    Isaiah Shoels
    Matthew Kechter
    Lisa Kreutz
    Valeen Schnurr
    Mark Kintgen
    Lauren Townsend
    Nicole Nowlen
    John Tomlin
    Kelly Fleming
    Jeanna Park
    Daniel Mauser
    Jennifer Doyle
    Austin Eubanks
    Corey DePooter

After the killings, the boys "offed" themselves. It's still not known if the boys intended to kill themsevles.
A disturbing fact is that Harris created a few levels for Doom and can still be found on the internet under the name "The Harris Levels." These levels where thought to resemble Columbine but where later debunked.

I hate to make a rant out of a tragedy so I'll try to keep it short.

Why do they all blame the music and/or the video games for people's stupidity? I mean, there are plenty of mature people who have played Doom that never have thought taking a gun to school. Well, I mean we all have that thought on a test day I'm sure, but none of us really follow through with it.

    I remember everyone was like 'Lol, they were wearing black leather trench coats so they must be gothic and worship Satan.' I seriously wanted to punch the tv when I heard that...{I'm a goth myself. Though I don't dress as obvious as I used to. i still stick to the label. }

    [/rant]

I understand it was a horrible event and lives were lost. I just needed to get off some steam about it.

i agree completely, when something like this happens people automatically look for something to blame, and they found video games/music etc. they cant be blamed! the person was obviously insane before, and probly would have done it anyway without ever playing Doom.

i over my condolences in memory of those that were lost

What year was this in? When they had the Virginia campus shooting they showed that but I forgot what year that said it was in...19-something or the other. But, yeah, why go and blame music and video games? A lot of people play games but I haven't seen anyone go tramping up to the high-school because of Grand Theft Auto.
My grandma's theory is that they were brain washed by someome. Has anyone noticed that they ALWAYS go to a largely populated area, i.e., malls, schools, companies, parks, etc? That's a very obvious pattern!

I read an article about some dude that was using RPG maker 3 or some such to make a game based on the shootings, needless to say I was slightly concerned.

The game was pulled off of the site that was showcasing it.

I too was enraged at how people tried to blame everything else but the kids and how they might have been raised. Because when children are brining guns to school and shooting at their fellow students it's always because of the music they listen to, the video games they play, or the friends they hang out with. Never their parents who have raised them all their lives, or even the kids themselves-- kids can't just be crazy anymore?
