or people conscious of the quality of the things they buy, how much do you care about the quality of the box or cover of whatever it is you're buying? I care a lot, maybe too much, and I'm curious if anyone else does to the extent that i do. Because when I'm in the store buying something, I'm standing there in the aisle fondling the stores entire stock of whatever just to see which one is the best, and I've never seen anyone else do this. Am I insane or is this a thing other people do? and this kind of only applies to things like comics, books, movies, games, and music, where the box is part of what you buy. not a figure or something where the box goes into a closet or trash.
It's mostly whenever I get a new book, but sometimes with movies as well, I get one that's in the very back of the row. That's the one that's had the least amount of tampering.
I used to go by this but found that it's not always true, which is why I'm now looking at all of them to find the best.
Definitely. Especially when it's a CD. I'll stand and inspect all the copies of a given album checking for scratches or cracks. I freak out when I order something online and the cover/box is damaged in any way. Also hate pre-owned stuff.
I am a little OCD with Collector's Editions boxes and whatnot. While I stopped buying Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts figurines quite a while ago, I still have a lot of the boxes they came in sitting in a huge portion of my room, neatly stacked in the order I got them. If something I got in the mail had a dent or damage that was noticeable, that is when I usually just throw it away after I've taken the item out. Yikes, just realized how crazy I was buying stuff from the SE store back in the day D:
