What are your thoughts on it? Is it good, bad, okay? If you could change your class to all one gender would you?

Me? Well, I don't think coed works for my school. The boys don't give the girls a chance and when the girls try to play, the boys say we're doing it wrong. *sigh* I think it's a matter of being mature and respecting each other.

    Your turn! ^^

Pretty much the same as me.
Most of the guys let us play with them.
They sometimes suggest us doing... stuffs ... but all really just fun and games.

Gym class should be only one gender per period, so that the guys can do stuff without being embarassed and stuff...don't know how to word that.

I say nay. x} The few times the girls did play with the boys, I feared for my life. The girls just hid in a corner while the boys writhed around in our muddy fields, kicking balls at each other. Horrifying, truly horrifying.

There were only a few girls in my year who dared to play with the rough boys, and they were pretty butch themselves.

It's okay for different genders to be mixed before aged 13, but after that, I think it's just too dangerous for girls since they're usually smaller, boys are built bigger.. and they're are mean. xD

Well, I suppose either one is good... It just depends on the students at your school... If the guys are perverts or if they don't let girls play enough, than i would say seperate classes would be better... But if the guys and girls can get along and the guys aren't perverts, then coed p.e isn't bad at all... However, I'd say that the best option is doing what my school did: Offer both. My school has a girl's P.E, boy's P.E, and a Coed P.E... That way, the students can choose which class they want to take. ^-^ However, I'm not in P.E. at all... >>

Coed PE isn't that bad. I have to deal with it every other weekday, after all. It is true that the guys become somewhat sexist when it comes down to doing better in sports, like Flag Football or Soccer. The thing is, my class played Floor Hockey for a couple days and when we did, the girls went against the girls and the guys went against the guys. But the girls battled it out far harder than the boys did for the puck and we kicked serious arse. The boys looked as if they didn't even try, and us girls were running all over the place in chase of the puck.

I do sometimes wish it was all one gender instead of two, though, just because I hate playing sports in front of boys beause I'm not as athletic. The only sport I played was volleyball and when we play that, I'm fine. Anything else, I just choke and embarrass myself.

Either way is fine, I guess. Sometimes I just wish it was one, depending on what activity we do. But, coed PE is fine.

My p.e. class is split up in girls and guys.
Occasionally, we get to play together.

I refuse to play dodgeball with the guys, they throw really hard >_<

I think it depends on what the activity is for the time whether a class should be co-ed or not. Things like weight lifting, volleyball, softball and stuff like that, I don't see why it can't be co-ed. Other things like football, swimming and wrestling, because of the contact of it and all I think should be separated and pretty much is when I went to High School. Now that I'm in college, many of the sports are co-ed except for 'team' sports which then are gender bound because of having to compete with other schools and the like.

I actually have fun playing sports with girls that don't act lame and lean against the wall primping their hair and acting like they are afraid of a ball or are prissy superiority complex girls. Co-ed sports can be enjoyable and so I don't think -all- should be divided up to genders. It also reminds us that girls -can- be competitive and some are really better than some of the guys out there. We also have a lot of fun joking around and all and to have a girl come out and kick butt is just awesome to me for some reason. lol

    Hmm...

Well my school does not seem to have much problems with Co-ed PE classes. Well, of course, there are girls who are just always sitting in the corner blowing on their wet fingernails and screaming "Oh mahh effin' gosh!" every time a freakin' ball comes by [<_< not being stereotypical at all yo]. However, there are girls that do want to play or at least attempt to play, and those who do, actually get along fine with the boys and they all play in harmony. Then again, those are the girls that actually go and join the sports teams, but that's not the case. The boys in my school are actually quite inviting when it comes to Co-ed games and whatnot, they do not seem to mind and neither do the girls [though I'm not sure if the boys are only inviting because the girls seem to FLIRT more with them than actually PLAY].

As for specifics, like weightlifting and etc., again, the boys are pretty helpful, always showing them around the equipments and helping them find the correct leverage. As for sports, they are always separate, and should remain that way, not because both genders cannot play in co-operatively, but because it's then when the aggressive sides come out xD. Mehh... well in my opinion, Co-ed PE is JUST FINE.

Lol I always laughed when that happened at my school, though if it got too dangerous, I would always keep them little ladies safe.

but yeah, I think coed physical education classes are good, because it teaches boys really, the difference in body types between guys and girls, and vice versa. Something everyone needs to learn. (and no im not saying in a perverted way)

We were never allowed to have coed PE through the first 4 years of secondary school. Not even for dancin'. Only students that picked PE as one of their main subjects in 5th n' 6th year had to endure mixin' with the other gender. lol, it's not all that bad. The lads are bold n' cocky. They always have to out-perform one another. Like in Basketball. It's s a team game, but the lads would play it as if they were the only one there.

It wasn't always fair on the lassies, n' the teachers finally figured it out. So, when we had our assessment the lassies usually had to get it done seperatly. Not always, but usually. Then they would make us play with the lads in a final assessment, n' the lassies could actaully prove as a challenge to them. We had to play football (soccer), basketball, badminton n' hockey with the lads. It didn't help that most of the lads (heck, two of the lassies were professional hockey players) were professional athletes.

I don't think havin' coed PE classes are bad. Playin' against the lads would proved a challenge for them, n' it's sometimes good to get out of your usual PE routine. Only if some of the lads learned to share. :P

I would have to agree. I noticed most of the girls aren't good at games when it comes to them cause mostly I heard that it has to do with their whatcha call it.............. I think attitude or something like that. But I do agree with the matter of being mature and respecting.

Coed PE is fun when the boys aren't all retarted and show-offy, ruining it for everyone but themselves, and the girls don't dress like whores and do nothing the whole period. >_>

Well at all the schools I've been to, P.E. was always co-ed. I think it's a good idea because then it gives the girls who want to play with guys a chance to. It can also teach guys that girls can also do things as good as they can, they should learn that kind of thing early so they don't turn out to be chauvinist pigs. (yeah as you can see I don't like guys who think males are the better of the two sexes)

I don't think it is a bad thing, but I think that opinions on that may be different from person to person. I mostly just go with the flow, not caring about if there are girls in pe with a majority of guys. In my current class the four or five girls just sit around a basically do nothing, so it's like they're not even there anyway.

See that's the problem: the girls don't play and that makes the boys think that we can't do anything. That's why I play; to prove those boys wrong.

The concept of gender-segregated PE is alien to me. I've been playing with girls (don't take that the wrong way) for as long as I can remember. I can't imagine doing it any other way.

Co-ed P.E was never a problem with me or any of the kids at my school. It might help that a lot of the girls at my school participate in gym class and are pretty damn good at...well, everything. I can see how in some schools and stuff it could be a problem, but here it's always been fine.

I like being able to do sports with boys. Most of the girls are too whimpy. I like being able to say to a boy "I totally kicked your butt!" I like being friends with them and being able to play a good hard game of football or something. Once they realize that I'm just as rough as them, they stop their I-can't-hurt-a-girl attitude and play as they would with just guys. I don't see why the boys here in Utah are constantly putting us girls down. Now that I'm captain of the softball team, I plan on changing that (at least on my team). I've played softball on an actually team (Dirtsurfers) and we were good. I think the boys will be surprised to find that I can do more than they think. ;)
