Sorry To interrupt you guys but I want to join in too. :p

Anyway,I wonder why only that girl exploded and not everyone else. Both the guy(Hud,right?) and the girl got attack and only she exploded.

Also about Hud's death.I thought that what came out when the monster spit him out was the camera and his head...

    Yea...I'm bad with names.
    That's alright.

Well I guess thay have pinces(or maybe their legs are sharp) and mouths (Kinda like ants maybe?) All I know is the girl who exploded got bit and the others didn't.

well, that is a possibllity because we only ever saw part of his head and that the camera was still alive (somehow STILL filming)

Hud was being draged away, not being killed.

Actully it was part of his upper body and the camera.

    Maybe...

The upper body?? If only someone has a picture of that part...also one picture of the Monster.
Talking about the monster,in my opinion,his/her/it's mouth reminds me of Godzillas.Lots of teeths!!

Well there couldn't be any pictures besides that part in the movie :/ and it really didn't show much.

Teeth? It was to dark for me to really see much, to dark and to much shaking.

Well they never said anything about a snout, it was the teeth that where similar.

All I noticed was it has more features on it's underside than from above, it isn't very detailed from if you're looking down on it.

Gonna have to be a big fish, like a shark maybe, or mammels like dolfins or whales maybe, they seem a bit big for it but maybe baby ones.

It wasn't in the movie, how can you tell for sure?

And besides, for the size it is whales are just too big for it, maybe just MAYBE some smaller species but whales are pretty big, at least most species anyway.

Yeah but I remember in the Godzilla movie(the 20th century one) the it was attracted to fish and...

    *spoiler*
...the army pretty much put a HUGE pile of fish in the middle of the city to attract it.
It came and started eating it. O.O
But I do get what you mean.

Yes, I suppose but it is a little strange something like that living on fish, I know Whales only eat krill but that's a whole nother story, fish are faster and the monster in Cloverfield didn't look the the type to just swim and leave it's moth open hoping to catch a mouthful. I think godzilla was just attracted to it because it could smell alot of fish, not just a little bit. And animals can smeal dead things one hell of alot better than we can, godzilla was proabably just going after fish because it smelt dead stuff and thought it would be a pretty easy meal.

*sigh* but it's mouth isn't the size of it's body and even if it chews whales just seem like to much for it. animals unlike people arn't waseful, they only take what they need, and it's stomach proably couldn't handle a whole whale, PLUS it got alot of hight from it's legs rather than body size. Prop a whale up so it's vertical and it would be pretty tall.

Actually I though it was kinda good.

Its hands are big, it could grab a whale and begin to eat it. The thing is also powerful it destroyed a drilling station in the mid north Atlantic.

You're clearly not a Godzilla fan.

I somewhat agree.Maybe, like some animals,it stores the whale leftover for another day.Like squirrels in hibernation.

    And yes,it was good.

But that's really not my point, the point is it's not that big for just it's body in general, no apendages counted, and it's skinny too, and if it has a digestive system anything like most species ojn Earth then it's stomach isn't gonna be big enough for a whale.
