Clovers grow where a nuclear bomb has exploded, apparently. Hence, "Cloverfield". :)

Not to be mean, or maybe even spam, but the monster sounds alot like the one of the movie 'The Host' if you havn't seen it, I recommend you do. Its a waterish/fish monster thing too.

Yeah. It showed it going behind the sky scrapper thing, I think. Well I KNOW it showed it, even a little bit anyway.

It was alright(I guess) but I really didn't like it, there where alot of things I noticed from others movies and games. Although kinda original, it really wasn't that much if you have seen the same movies and played the same games I have.
Also some parts where just incredibly stupid like: (highlight to see)
how the guy went back for that girl who was trapped, I would have slapped him and dragged him out of the city with me >_>
How low the helicopter was flying when they where looking down at it and finally thought they where safe, you would think it would go high up and get the hell out of their if it had survivors.
There are other stupid parts if you want me to name them too

Overall I wish I hadn't waisted my money on it, it was kinda enjoyable but not as much as I would have hoped. :/

Probably THE BEST movie I have see in a long time.

I have read just about all of the viral marketing stuff, and it makes the movie way better.
And just to let you know, the movie was shot with a normal movie camera( I forget, but I think they said that it was about $10,000) along with a handheld for some parts.

    SPOILERZ MAYBE LOL

The monster is a baby, and the reason it's so big is because it ate slusho, which makes fish huge.
I think it got hit by a satellite from a company called Tagruato, which woke it up and made it pissed and confused.

There are alot of hints in the background as well, so each time you watch the movie, look around a bit, not just at the chars (For example, the reason they played spongebob at the electronic store is because the monster is from under water.).

And, you know how they didn't explain much in the movie?
Search for the viral marketing stuff, it fills in most plot holes.

    I give this movie a 10/10.
Sucks for you people with motion sickness, HA!

    EDIT:
And to the above poster, i'll tell you why they did those things.

If you didn't notice, he ****ing loved her to death, hence the parts where it cut to them.
He longed to be with her, and he couldn't stand her dying :/.

And it was actually really high up....
The mosnter is just so huge, it looks liek they are low :/
And yes, name the other parts, please.

Alright fine then he loved her, but trying to be a hero like that just got everyone killed :/
It may have been high up but the rate it was climbing at was pitiful, I know for a fact it can go up higher and alot faster.

    Other stupid parts:
The girl who got bitten by one of those things that fell of the bif thing, she started bleeding from he eye, if that was happening blood would also be russhing out her nose and mouth, hell if it comes out of her eyes why not her ears too?

When they where in that mall after being attacked why not arm themselves with something, there where metal poles all around and they couldn't know if there would be more of those things

near the end when the monster was looking down at the camera person why snach him up? for something so big you would think it would just pass him by, also what about the other two, they didn't get noticed. Plus wouldn't more of those things be falling of it and they would get attacked again by those?

Plus the whole thing about the camera surviving all that after being dropped so many times and having explosions and rocks falling on it.

    That's just a small difference. :/

Also, the monster in The Host is a mutant fish about the size of a truck. The monster in Cloverfield is a baby creature that has been sleeping in the ocean for thousands and thousands of years and it is about 25 to 45 stories tall.

And kikame, can you not suspend your disbeilf(sp) for like 5 seconds? You think a magical note book that kills people is alright but when a giant monster attacks a city and a camera gets dropped over and over again thats stupid to you.

    WARNING: SPOILERS

There was blood coming out of her mouth, etc. When the quarantine people were taking her away she was coughing up blood.
During the movie sometime, someone said (or rather, screamed) "It's eating people." So, I'm guessing it was looking for people to eat.
The actual camera didn't have to survive, but the tape inside of it did. It was protected by the camera.

    *Spoilers*

It's right after those two kids get crushed from the bridge. The camera then switches to a recording from an fair. Right before the camera turns from the ocean to the two kids you can see something falling into the ocean in the background.

I never noticed that, but after the credits (highlight to read) :
You hear a voice saying something, it sounds like gibberish. But played backwards, it says "It's still alive."

I'm probably going to regret posting that. :D

I saw it about two weeks ago and, in my opinion, it sucked. It was a big disappointment for me. The only thing I liked was the home camera affect and the special affects. By halfway through the movie you could tell that everyone was going to die and from then on, it was just watching them die. It had an abrupt ending that I didn't like. I thought that the camera panning out and showing people watching the tape would have been a better ending. When the movie ended, everyone in the theater was silent or muttering their view of the movie. No one like it in that theater, and I'm not sure if it was worth ten bucks to see. PLUS: HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU DESTROY NEW YORK?! Seriously, get another location to blow up!
