Clash of the races'

He chuckled


River rolled his eyes

 

Ocean continued to gaze out of the window, lost in her own little world.

 

"Soo....what are you two doing this summer?"


"Sleeping."

 

"I'm doing some work experience at St. Mungo's so I can do the course to become a healer at the start of next year. Remember?" Ocean sighed, rolling her eyes slightly.

 

"Oh yeah....I remeber now..."he laughed "sounds fun....you'll be up really early then?"


"does she ever sleep in?"

 

"Unlike you Mr Sleepyhead I don't need at least 18 hours of sleep a night. Actually I don't sleep all that much at all." She giggled. "And I'll be leaving at 5 in the morning four days a week."

 

"See ? she's weird dad.....she's not like us....is she adopted."


"No.....she's probably the other twin girl your grandmother want.....buuut she got me instead.....she did always said she wanted two twin girls ....."


"dad...your rambling.."

 

"Well Mum isn't exactly a lay about, unlike you Daddy." Ocean snickered. "And I think she thinks of Mum as the other twin, not me. It's why they get along so well." After a moment she added with a devious expression, proving that even after all these generations the Malfoy genetics still ran strong. "I'd go as far to say she prefers Mum."

 

"she probably does "he laughed

 

"Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest." She giggled. "Mum's nice and polite and quiet. And you're just... well... you."

 

"Whats wrong with me?"

"Whats right dad?"

 

"You're loud, you're grumpy, you sleep way too much." Ocean listed off, a cheeky grin on her lips. "The list is endless. Why Mum puts up with you I'll never know."

 

"That.....Ocean....is a mystery to us all....but she has put up with me for years and years now.....and I dont sleep too much....."he said pulling into his parents drive way


"Sure dad."

 

"Mum's obviously too nice for her own good." Ocean said as she opened the door and climbed out of the car.

 

"I've always said that y'know."he said getting out,locking the car as River closed the door behind him

 

"And maybe just a little bit stupid too." She grinned making her way up to the front door.

 

"oOOOOH...you have the mean streak in you "he laughed opening the front door


"Oh gawd....he's here...has Lake finaly kicked you out?" Cory asked


"Not yet....."

River peered around his father,looking for his cousin,he didnt have to look far before seeing her in the kitchen,with their grandmother

 

"Though it's only a matter of time." Ocean grinned, poking her father in the ribs in a teasing manner.

Over with Cadey and her grandmother there was Casey. He was sat on the kitchen counter watching with a deeply troubled expression on his face, he didn't do depressing. He could cheer people up, but there were circumstances where cheering up just wasn't suitable.

 

He squirmed away from her grinning"Carrie not kicked you out?"


"she did last night..."


"Yeah, Dad had to sleep on the sofa."Caleb butt in, laughing


"Cadey?"River said quietly,now he was here....he wasnt sure what he was going to do....what did you say to a girl who'd just found out her boyfriend was dead?"Um...."

"I know River."She muttered,her brown eyes ringed red


Lyra patted her arm

 

"Poor Uncle Cory." Ocean said, semi-sincerely. Her cousin couldn't help but make her laugh.

Casey simply sat and watched, at a loss for what else to do. He knew from previous experiences with death that there was very little he could do for them, it was too soon to even try.

Jacob, who had his mother's ability to just fade into the background, silently wandered up to his much older cousin and tugged on his hoodie to get his attention.
