Well, the long awaited movie for all Darren Shan fans. It's all happy and cool to see awesome books being turned into movies, but it is a little sad when 3 books are jumbled altogether to make one single movie. They've apparently taken and changed a lot of the story, like replacing some characters with new ones and/or taking out certain characters completely.

But, regardless of all that, I am still majorly happy to see this come to theaters in October '09. Never did I think the books would actually make to UNIVERSAL pictures. I'm not going to judge the movie nor complain every five minutes about what's been changed. I'm just going to enjoy for what it is: A really flippin' awesome story.

    >.< Darren isn't supposed to be THAT hyper and happy, and he doesn't even look the slightest bit saddened when he is forced to "die"
    Plus,Steve doesn't even look evil >_>
Still,I do hope the movie doesn't end up sucking,it does have an epic story o-o

I agree completely, that's exactly what I thought when I first saw the trailer in theatres.

I remember watching the trailer with my brother, who loves the series, and the whole time he was complaing about the details of the characters.

Either way, it looks like something I would see.

He's got every bit of right to complain...I got all excited when I realized it was the trailer for the Cirqu du Freak movie, but then my smile went upside down as soon I noticed all things that were changed. I waited 3+ years for this movie to come out. rofl.

However, that's expected...no movie based on a book can be made accurate. So, just ignore all the changes and all the happy-ginnydess, and the non-evil looking Steve. I'm sure it'll get better somehow...even if they are combining the first three books I think. D:

I won't judge anything by a trailer. I have read all the books and I am a huge fan of them. But a little trailer can't show the whole movie, so I'm still really looking forward to seeing this movie.

i read this book in the mist of the Twilight hype, so im a somewhat new fan of the series, and gosh i love this series.

and the 3 book jumbo is not a big problem for me, i mean the books were kind of short :/

moment i read about John C Reily playing as Mr. Crepsly that ruined it for me, i imagined he looked like Lestat from Interview with a Vampire, or heck, that one bad vampire from Twilight.

i think Darren is cute thought :>

Well, technically, Mr. Crepsley is like a crudely-handosme looking man with a small patch of orange hair on his head, if I recall correctly...but James or Lestat? Wow, the latter two are hot and sexy, young vamps. I wish Mr. Crepsley was that beautiful...haha.

How far have you gotten in the series? Boy, there are some pretty good surprises up ahead. =]

I was extremely disappointed with the trailer when I first saw it as well. I don't think my friends could shut me up about all the inconsistencies for a good fifteen minutes. However, I've come across a thread where Darren Shan reveals that he is indeed very excited with the results.

Therefore, I'm trying to relent my judgements and just hope for the best. :)

I can't take Crepsley seriously because of the actor x'D
I can't wait to see this movie. The books were okay but I kinda lost interest after the first one.

Gah, movie is a huge disappointment to me in all ways. Can't even stand it let alone appreciate it as a stand alone item with no reference to the books. DX

Out of all the people complaining about the trailer, (and I do not mean this to be rude or condescending), how many of you thought that maybe Darren Shan wanted the changes to happen?

    . . .

    Just a thought.

Anyway, I thought it was... Strange. For one, did anyone else notice that there wasn't any music on that particular trailer? Did my speakers/headphones mess up? Or is that how it really is? I heard the talking and the thudding of the fighting/falling, but no music. It really killed it for me. Plus, the description said that it came out on the 23 of October, 2009, did it not? Did that mean the trailer?

On a side note, (and I'm making a thread about this right after I'm done here), I remember really accurately what I felt when I read the parts in the "SPOILER" below when I listen to Evanescence. Specifically, the songs Tourniquet and My Immortal. Does anyone else have that? Feeling exactly what you felt in one moment when you hear a certain song?

Tourniquet: When Mr. Crepsley dies in that one place. I cant remember where, but it had a pit in it... Wasn't it in the Vampire's Mountain?

My Immortal: The ending of the last book, when he becomes one of the creatures that are sewn together and alters time so that he never became a vampire's assistant. "Good bye, Darren Shan!" Kind of a crappy ending, but still emotionally written...

It looks good, though. The movie, I mean. Fufufufufufufufufufufu...

Ehhh....I guess it wasn't too bad of a movie. Although.....the kid who played Darren kind of bugged me a bit....since it sounded like he had braces or something impeding clear speech.
