After looking for thge source of the scream in vain, Hunter decided that it was getting late and headed back towards the town. Whether if I saw my brother or if my eyes were playing tricks on me,i'll find out if there's a second show. Without giving it a second thought, he left the woods.

Once Sky suddenly came to a stop right where he was standing. If that was who I thought it was, then he'll be fine on his own. If he had saw his brother, then what he had just thought would be true. He was the one who help teach him how to fight in the first place. So turning around he headed back for the tent. Once he'd gotten in front of the tent he found Petal and Night there, but Tellus and the girl weren't there. "Guess it's safe to say that see awoken."

 

♪The Shadow of the Circus, Night Cross♪

Night was just about to reply to Ella's words before hearing footsteps walking up from behind them. She quickly glanced back, seeing Sky which made her sigh quietly. She had thought that the two from earlier had actualy decided to come back. She gave a slight nod as an answer to Sky's question "She has...Ella said that...the girl had thought our powers were just...an illusion and that Holden's were...just smoke and mirrors. Holden wanted to prove that this show was, indeed, real. So...he used his powers...and vanished along with her." she explained before turning back to Ella.

"As for what I've found...it was nothing more...than a few more spectators...from the audience, a boy and a girl. It seems that the girl's scream from earlier...caused them to come out here...and investigate. I was able to...scare one away...and the other followed behind. Still...the boy seemed familiar. I think...he was one of the many that...my shadow phased through" Night replied with a thoughtful expression. She would admit that the boy did pique her interest, but not in that type of way. He really wanted to check out the circus and make sure that the other girl was okay. No doubt...he had a determined attitude.

 

When they had finally arrived at the bed and breakfast, Sammy began to breathe more easily. After all, they were safe now. Her tibs burned a bit from all the fastwalking, but probably not nearly as much as Cal's as he tended to run and exercise other muscles, not just fastwalk like her. Still, she looked forward to finally resting. They had arrived by car the previous day and rested then, but Sammy was just exhausted from all the happenings today. She was almost as tired when they had arrived, since she had been driving the whole way, and knowing that Cal's life was in her hands in the car, she feared the whole way that they'd both die in a tragic accident because of her carelessness. Thankfully that didn't happen, but now she has to be worried that they'll both die in a tragic kidnapping. But Sammy's always worried about something or someone. That was considered normal. Somewhat. As soon as the door was shut in their twin bed bedroom, Sammy turned to Cal with burning eyes and raised a finger, "All right dude. FIRST OF ALL. Don't EVER go off and do your own thing again. ALL RIGHT?! That's dangerous! And SECOND of all, I'm going to take a shower first and try to make it quick for you. I don't know what time we should wake up tomorrow, but...uh...eh...we'll shoot for 9. If we miss it, that's all right. Though I'll be sad if we end up waking at 12..." mumbled Sammy as she gathered her sleeping clothes and immediately went to take a shower. In 15 minutes, she was out and prepared to sleep immediately, having brushed her teeth while she was in the bathroom. Within moments, she was out like a light.

 

Aki felt her heart leap into her throat as the magician vanished in a blink of an eye.
No way...she muttered breathlessly.
It may not look so extravagant.
The sound of his voice seem so strong behind her, but when she turned around he wasn't there. Her heart raced with excitement and anxiety.
But it's far from some common trick.
The voice had moved. Aki turned back forward to see Holden hovering about the ground and dancing around her and Petal. She could have sworn she saw Petal smiling as if this was all fun in games. Her mind raced with more questions.
Maybe you'd believe me if I just-
But before she managed to say something he vanished again, but each time he reappeared he was inching closer to her. Her heart skipped a beat when he was finally next to her. She didn't noticed how tall he was or how distinguished his facial features were till now. He grabbed her arm and she blushed hard. She hadn't felt this kind of human interaction in for a long time.
Took you elsewhere.
She looked at him with somewhat terrified eyes. A tight squeezing feeling enveloped her body as the world started to swirl around her. The pressure grew tighter that she thought she might pop, so she closed her eyes and let the darkness swallow her. She could have sworn she heard the flower girl laughing in the distance.

When she had reopened her eyes, she was back in the tent. The moon shone brightly in the open hole that the scarlet devil gladly punctured, and the world was calm. She peered around the tent to see Holden in the stand, arms across his chest and leaning back.
Now how about that autograph you wanted?
Her eyes sparkeld with joy.
R-Realy?!? You mean it?
A huge grin fell on her lips as she made her way towards him, but she didn't notice the eerie breeze falling in.
Well now! What have we here?
Aki didn't hear the wings flapping, but she did see the Scarlet Devil's entrance. Her breath stopped as soon as she saw her. She was paralyzed as the young blond girl materialized a spear from nowhere and pressed it against her cheek.
W-What is this?
Holden, I know youre a bit of a pervert, but I had no IDEA that you were so sadistic as to want to get a random girl killed by Victor just to get your kicks!
Aki's eyes widen with fear. K-Kill me?!?
Her lips started to tremble as her face became a dangerous shade of a dying pale.
Man, I knew I should have ignored that text message, I mean, what in the world was I thinking. Me, normal and going to normal events? Hah what a joke.
She gazed at Holden desperately with fear and betrayal in her eyes and in search of salvation.

 

Flandre, the Scarlet Devil​

"Heh!" While still holding her weapon at the girl's face, Flandre flashed Holden a cruel smile out of the side of her mouth, making her fangs all too visible to Aki. Tapping the girl once more on the cheek, she lowered her spear and dismissed it to the void. "That's Flandre Scarlet." Flandre said, turning her head the man, tilting it slightly. For a few seconds she just stared. Suddenly Flandre rapidly extended her clawed hand toward Holden's face. At the last second, moved it to hold his chin from beneath, making sure Aki can see her talons. Next time you introduce me, remember that shadowboy." She then let her arm drop and walks between the two, pushing aside both with her iron wings. Once she had passed she walked out of the main floor and into the darkness that was backstage, headed to her room.

 

Aki was taken back slightly. Not in any kind of danger? Is that some kind of joke? I mean she has a spear!
She inhaled and exhaled deeply. Although death seemed to be going through her mind right now, she couldn't help but feel slightly relaxed. The way that the magician smiled at her gave her some reassurance and feeling returned to her again.
Anyways, what do you want me to sign? I don't normally do this kind of thing but I'll make an exception for you.
She watched as the magician pulled out a pen from thin air and she smiled widely.
Amazing...
When she finally came back to Earth, she searched frantically for a piece of paper, but grew slightly dissapointed when she realized that she had left her bag back outside. A light bulb hit her.
My cellphone!
She started to search her pocket frantically as if her life depended on it.
You're one of the more attractive girls who's ever asked for an autograph though.
She paused as heat rushed to her ears.
A-Attractive? Okay calm down, he probably says this to every girl. Plus this Scarlet devil chick says he's kind of a perv so I have to be careful and not fall into his trap.
She found her cell phone and smiled triumphantly at the magician.
Anyways, I'm Holden. Holden Grey. He pointed at the Scarlet Devil. And that's...well, she's Flandre.
Aki smiled.
Nice meet you, names Aki.
She suddenly felt the spear leave her cheek and she looked at Flandre.
Next time you introduce me, remember that shadowboy.
Aki blinked in confusion as she watched the Scarlet Devil vanish in the darkness.
Had she been talking this entire time?!?
She gave a weak chuckle.
I wonder what her problem is...
She made her way towards Holden and blushed sheepishly and drew small circles in the ground like a small child meeting his favorite hero.
Umm...w-would you mind signing my cell phone?
She bowed her head and showed her hands.

 

The young girl made her way home where she silently kicked off her shoes and looked around the house not before placing her belongings on the kitchen counter. She glanced at the note but knew all to well what it said. Her parents had left the house again and would probably be working all night. She looked at the last of her emails and texts from her phone before climbing into the shower and rinsing off her body to get ready for bed. She would likely never return to that place. Not that she cared much. She wasn't in the mood to feel sorry for anyone or watch some dazzling lights while they went off and blew holes in the tent. Her first impression of the circus was not a good one and she would likely never return.

 

Dissapointment washed over Aki's face as she took the phone back and examined the autograph.
Tellus? I thought his name was...ah nevermind I'm just wasting my time thinking about it.
She put her phone back into her pocket and sighed.
Not a regular person, huh? I kind figured that out within these past hours or so...
She watched Holden fidget slightly as he stared her. An uncomfortable feeling rose in her, but she had figured it was pretty late by now and that she needed to get home soon.
I wonder if he needs to go somewhere. Maybe check in with his boss or something...Or maybe-
It was nice meeting you Aki. I hope you'll come back for the next performance.
Her thoughts had shattered as she looked at Holden with blank eyes.
Oh yes, my apologies. I'll make sure to stop by the next show.
They both eyed the exit of the tent.
You better head home. Forgive me, but I'm not allowed to use my ability to get you there and I really have to get back with the others.
Aki groaned to herself. Great, just perfect.
Holden waved at her and made his way towards the exit, dissapearing within the shadows. Aki then took out her cell phone and flipped it open.
No messages...
She put her hands in her pocket and shivered under the deep cold, hoping that her journey back home wouldn't be as harsh. As she exited the tent again she took one final glance inside before making her way back into the forest. When she arrived back at her house she kicked off her shoes a ran upstairs to her room. She jumped into bed and pulled out her cellphone. She ran a finger over the name "Tellus" and smiled.
Alright, let's see how the next performance goes.
She then closed the screen and covered herself under her sheets.
That night she dreamed of the circus.

It was easy to see that Sammy was relieved when the two of them arrived back at the inn. Cal was a bit disappointed, he'll admit, that they didn't explore more, but he guessed that straining Sammy wasn't a good idea. Sure, she was one of the more determined people he knew, but brave wasn't her forte, whereas Cal felt fearless at times. Still, it was nice to get back and relax - it'd been an exciting night and all, he wouldn't mind sleeping soon after a hot shower.

They walked in a companionable silence back to their shared room, and when they got in, Cal jumped at Sammy, "Alright dude, FIRST OF ALL, don't ever go off and do your own thing again - ALRIGHT?!" Cal flinched at the hardness of her voice, but he couldn't quite rebuttal right, he knew she had just been worried, so he stood there and took it calmly. "That's dangerous!"

He nodded at her, and murmured a quick sorry, before she went off to tell him that she would take a shower and then he could, and that tomorrow they would try and wake up early and go from there. In the fifteen minutes Sammy was taking a shower, Cal sat on his bed and thought a little. Thought about that circus, thought about those performers. They were . . . extraordinary, that much was for sure, but he wondered, were they happy like that? Especially the performers that were a little more than extraordinary, like Stitches or Petal. How did they end up at the circus? Then he thought about Night Cross, with her pale eyes and similar colored hair - how did she end up there? Why? What kind of life did she lead? Was she happy?

Too many questions . . . And Sammy came out of the shower and let him go in. After lasciviously peeling off his clothes, he stepped into the shower, and cranked up the hot water, letting it run down his back and relax his tired muscles. A few minutes later, he changed into some boxers and came out to see Sammy deep in sleep.

Before hopping into his own bed, he gave a last look out the window and then slid into his comfortable sheets, falling into a dreamland not many minutes later.​

 

Flandre, the Scarlet Devil​

Flandre neared the girl's side of the tent when she went into a separated section. Hers. "Hmm..." She had never been told why she got her own private area, but she knew all the same. Sneering, she said, "Even among the other freaks around here, I'm treated as a monster." She looked down, momentarily saddened at this fact before her face harden into a determined look. "Let them treat me like an abomination. They won't be alive much longer anyways." She lays down on her bed, falling asleep with an evil smile.

 

"Guess they were curious on what they saw today." Sky replied. Their show couldn't have been they surprsing for people to atempt to get a closer look at them. Maybe it had nothing to do with the show and they were just curious. Either way Flandre's screaming didn't help at all. "Odds are she goen by now, so we should probably go inside before the ringmasters find out."

 

♪The Shadow of the Circus, Night Cross♪

Night turned her attention towards Sky and nodded in response. That's all they needed were Victor and Amaya to see them still awake. Sighing quietly, she crossed her arms and glanced over at Ella "We should hurry...and find Ambrosia. Knowing Flandre and the day she has had...she is probably sleeping already" was all she said before heading off to look for thier lovely Stitches. She hoped that where ever she was, she hadn't been found by the ringmasters.

Amaya yawned quietly as she walked with Victor to go and check on their performers. With all the commotion going around about their first public showing, she had figured them to be just a little on edge. She glanced over at Victor while placing her hands behind her back "That surprise we have planned for them...do you think they'll like it?" she asked, her tone foretraying slight curiousity with a hint of worry. She didn't know what she was worried about. Amaya knew that the performers would be grateful for what she and Victor planned, given the fact that they barely got outside and all. Still, she was nervous about how the...humans would react.​

 

Ella glanced up at the sky to see the sun starting to set and nodded, "No kidding, we'd better hurry. They'll probably be going to check on us now and I really don't want to be discovered up. Amber isn't stupid, she might be back already but I don't know. Why does the day go so fast?" She asked noone in particular before setting off at a fair pace, looking out for her friend. "Come on" She urged the others. The ringmasters finding them all still awake was the last thing they needed. She smiled nervously at them, they could do this, they'd cut it close before and managed it.

Only a few moments had passed since the girl left. Stitches was already moving back towards the others. She was both eager and hesitant to tell the rest what had exactly happened. What if the Ringmasters found out? She was so lost in her thoughts, she almost didn't notice Ella and Night walking towards her. With a quick look around, Stitches scurried closer to her. She laughed nervously, not exactly sure how to go about what she wanted to say. Instead, she just mumbled an awkward greeting and gazed in the direction of the tents. "Hey...U-um."

She knew she was being obvious, but she couldn't get over her nervous feeling.​

 

♪The Shadow of the Circus, Night Cross♪

A small smile crossed Night's features as Ella urged her and Sky to follow after her and find Amber. Ella did have a point though. Ambrosia was a smart girl and she knew that the ringmasters must've been lurking about the area right now. Still, it didn't hurt to be safe, right? Sometimes Night felt like she was an older sister to the girls of the circus, even thought Amber was the same age as her and well...Flandre did have a few years on her too, but she still acted like a child. But, other than that, Night actually liked the feeling of being a surrogate older sibling. It made her want to protect the others from anything that could do them harm. Straying away from her thoughts for the moment, she had noticed Amber walking over to her and the others and smiled. At least the Ringmasters hadn't caught her yet. But she could sense that they were around.
Night also took note of the nervousness in Amberosia's tone and couldn't help but get a little confused. What happened while they weren't around? Did Amber encounter a person from the audience too?...Night shook her head slightly "What are you...still doing out here, Amber? Victor and Amaya...they're probably coming...to check on us. We have to...hurry back to our tent...before they come around" she said to Amber, but the last statement was directed to Sky and Ella too.

Amaya let out a quiet sigh at Victors words "Yeah, I know. You don't have to tell me twice. Who knows what kind of trouble those six can get into while we're not looking...especially our little Scarlet Devil" she replied. Just the thought of it made her shudder a little. They would definitely have to keep an eye on her. She was pretty sure that the other performers would be harmless, especially Ella and Amber. Amaya knew those two would do nothing wrong. They were much too...pure, in a sense. Then there was Night and Holden, those two were like the older siblings of the performers, so she could count on them to watch the others too. She was also pretty sure that she could put Sky in the same slot as Amberosia and Ella. He was more harmless than pure though.
Amaya merely shrugged her shoulders, pushing those thoughts away for now "I just hope we don't have to cancel it entirely. I would hate to do that. They really do need to get out more often and, well, see what else is out there besides this circus" she stated.

 

Then I'll see you guys later." Sky replied as he left fo his tent. With any luck by the time he got back there, they would start their checking on them.

Amber nodded slowly, pressing her lips together and shaking her head softly. She didn't want to talk about it here. It was both too obvious and too dangerous. Instead, she took a deep breath and turned towards the direction of the tents.

It wasn't as if anything terrible had happened between her and the strange girl from the audience. Nothing had changed, and she hadn't technically agreed to it. But no matter how she would try to convince herself otherwise, she knew it was still a punishable offense and she was still hesitant to mention it to the others. ​
