That would certainly be true if this were about the convenience of caregivers.

The plastibell gives the worst result with respect to residual pleasure-receptivity. It takes the greatest possible amount of frenular tissue. The frenulum is the connective tissue on the underside that normally pulls the foreskin back over the glans after an erection. It is also the single most nerve-rich spot on a man's body. It really is the male clitoris, and the Plastibell takes much more of it than a free-hand circumcision by a compassionate mohel does.

So..if you suddenly found out your of that religion and you had to be circumsized, you'd allow it right now? Personal Question,no wrong answer.only curious.

And I just gotta say that its up to the parents,I don't believe in it personally.,but school for them would be..rough..especially in America.

I don't know what you mean. 95% of the non-Muslim world does not circumcise. In the US about half of infants are left intact today. In California and the 4 Western states, over 3/4 of infants make it home from the hospital with their foreskins.

I was born in california and I have to say that in the locker room the cuts out numbered the uncuts. It became a joke war. It was awesome.

All joking aside. I do think the numbers vary from location to location. I went to HS in a mostly white area and it seems that circuncision is the common practice around there.

Personally, I'd like to know why she's against it. The entire argument that it's cruel is kind of ignorant. As far as damaging goes, I'd highly doubt that there's any threat. People were doing it in 4000 B.C. and still reproducing. Also, the reasons for getting circumcised is both traditional, and practical. Practically speaking, one who is circumcised will not carry an STD as easily as someone who is not. This is also just a healthy practice, for both the man and his... wife, as the other member ought to be.
So like I said before, if anyone could explain why guys shouldn't be circumcised, I'd be interested in reading your thoughts.
I'd say more, but we're not all guys reading this.

The fact that it has been around for quite some time and tends to vary form culture to culture is the main reason I started this thread. So far I have gathered much input and thank you all for helping me. I can see where all three sides are coming from and am begining to view a broader spectrum of this matter. I look forward to future responses.

I voted no. In my opinion, it is a form of mutilation, which is cruel to the child and as far as I know, has no purpose other than abiding by a tradition. However, just because this is what I believe, doesn't mean that I want to get rid of circumcision. I find it as a pointless tradition, but people still feel strongly about it for whatever reason.

You implied kids might have a hard time in school due to being intact.

I cited that about half of today's US infants (3/4 in the Western states) are being left intact, so intact kids will by no means be the oddballs.

95% of the non-Muslim world does not circumcise.

I really don't find anything wrong with it. Now and days, they do it for more "Hygiene".
Why exactly DOES she have a problem with it?

The problem is it's risky surgery which robs a male of a HUGE measure of pleasure-receptiveness. No national medical association on earth endorses routine circumcision, so for a minor it is a non-consensual cosmetic amputation - a gross violation of his basic human rights.

What part shall we find nothing wrong with cutting off of you?

I'm not sure why she was so opposed to this. Here's the latest. She had the baby and he was circumcised. They seemed to have put a lot of discussion into this and have read your thoughts. Thank you guys so much for all your input.

Yeah, I don't see how it's such a big deal. Whether or not a boy is circumcized is hardly an issue to be raving about since it has no real impact on the way the boy will function. It's not like he's getting a sex change.

If two people argue that much over circumcision and get that heated, they need to reconsider what their priorities are. There are way more important things to get worked up about.

Anyway, glad it's over and done with.

    Think if it this way:

I had a really flamboyantly gay waiter at a pub I was at last night who told us he got one to help him perform better. (I was in an area called "the gaybourhood" otherwise known as "The Villiage" in Toronto, Canada)
I guess it depends on the person and their disposition.

Of course without the foreskin sex is greatly diminished. Only the boy himself has the moral right to choose to alter his sexual experience. Not one national medical association on earth endorses routine circumcision.

Please view the medical video "Functions of the Foreskin" (two 10-minute segments):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps1dkbcOKfA

I think you will never dismiss what is lost to circumcision again. Certainly before permanantly amputating part of someone's sexual organs, watching at least one of the video segments is not too much to ask.

I love it when people get so up in arms over such a silly little thing.

You know in some cultures a girl is circumcised which removes the clitoris before her sexual organs are sewn shut. It's to prevent adultery. And this has been done for hundreds of years.

Just like how circumcision has been done for years and people are still able to reproduce. I think people have found ways to get around any lack of feeling in that area. If they hadn't would sex be at the front of everything these days?

I think if men complained about the lack of feeling in their penis, we'd be hearing a larger outcry from them and from the women they're having relations with. I don't hear of riots in the streets about how the American Medical Association or Dr.Smith at the local clinic took away their/their spouses' ability to perform.

I believe it is ultimately up to the parents to decide. Since it is a practice in the Jewish and Christian denominations, I would say it would be to continue that tradition. If not for religious reasons, then yes for hygenic reasons. If the male doesn't properly clean himself, the foreskin can get infected.

Apparently they knocked him out, but ya, I couldn't imagine the pain afterwards!
