I personally prefer the ideals taught in Buddhism myself, but for now I am just not affiliated with any religion.

I say Budhism. I believe that Christianity is either on track, or a SAtanic cultish religion...i haven't figured that out yet. Budhism has its flaws, but it definetly makes more "sense". THats my 2 cents

    What? Ever heard of purgatory?

And Buddha's life couldn't be fictional?

Dear lord this is not going to end well. This is ridiculously stupid, why put up a religious competition?

Gotama Sidhartha was a real person. It is proven in records that he lived. In the end though to keep peace we should just be able to voice opinions as long as they are not ugly and no one should really be confronting others on it or it becomes a flame war between two religions. This is why CtR warned people ahead of time that it could get ugly and if it did she'd have to close this topic. Let's all try to keep things fair whether we choose one over the other or neither. That way a topic doesn't have to get closed as people offer up their personal insights.

I voted for Christianity. I love my relgion so there for I support it. But Buddhism is also a good relgion. Christianity isn't a evil/bad relgion, it only looks that way with most of the members being ignorant and intolerant people who are in the relgion. All relgion are good but it all depends on who is talking about the relgion. Anyone who is part of Christianity and says that people are evil because they don't have the same relgion or is not straight or is not something god would approve of, well those people don't know what the hell they are talking about. In history it is known that Christianity has done horrible things but that is because leaders of countries gave power to the Catholic Church and which had power hungry leaders for a VERY long time. So its not a good idea to give political power to a relgion. But yeah I voted for Christianity.

    I voted for Christianity.

I don't understand why more people chose the buddha religion.

    Let's think about this:

The Christian Bible is the most sold book in the world.

and there is only one real God.

and he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so that our sins could be forgiven and we could go to heaven.

You'll feel like a completely different person once you pray that special prayer and ask Jesus into your heart. (believe me I know)

Can somebody tell me what buddha ever did for us?

He didn't have to do anything. He did bring peace to all of people, but Jesus did kinda make a lot more people pissed off. No offense god.

Can you tell me anything that Jesus said that Buddha did not say first? Most of what Christ preached is a simply a variation on Sidhartha Guatama's teachings. The parallels between most organized religious majorities have more in common than they differ.

as for buddism... i don't know enough of that religon (or life style) to make the decision on which is better....

if he wasn't christ he wouldn't know of budda at that time....

    Yes there is something:

Jesus said and I quote: "The only way to The Father is through me."unquote.

    Did buddha ever say that?

You missed the point. The main objects of the two faiths obviously make them different. What I was referring to were Christ's teachings (I guess I failed on specificity). But if it's the central theme that's being brought up, the Buddha did say that the only way to true peace and enlightenment was through revelation of the Four Noble Truths. Through a buddha understanding could come; the only way to enlightenment is through the Buddha.

The concept of Buddhism is different in that a person who wants to achieve enlightenment and peace of mind follows a sort of guideline path to assist him/her on it. It is a personal path that could be accomplished with or without assistance and isn't done through a deity but a personal journey of change.

Technically, Horus also said near the exact words Jesus did with the line you just quoted. It's not some new revelation. In the end, maybe we should examine each religion here a bit more to find out similarities and differences since many people do not seem to even know what Buddhism is. Being raised in a western culture, we aren't so privy to it. Maybe later when I get back I'll write a bit on the 4 Noble Truths and 8 Fold Path. It really is a different mind set so Buddha wasn't going to say lines of going through deities since the thought was that anyone could find the path of enlightenment by doing the work themselves and there do not have to be deities or there can be in your life.

Mostly every religon has a lot of quotes in it that other religons have said already. Like Buddha sat under a tree for 40 days and 40 nights, so did Jesus AFTER Buddha did. And Noah's ark sorry if that isn't spelled correctly, is the same concept from this one legend in the Eqyptain religon I think. Sorry about the grammar you guys, I'm in a hurry.

I know there was a real prince named Gotama Siddharta, but there was also a real person named Jesus.

So either way, they both make sense.
