John raced up to the monster and swung himself onto the animals back. Taking off his glasses, John turned to the others and smiled. "I'm Jonathan Keener. But please, call me John."

"Hey John!" Xektia smiled as she turned to face him. She then looked at Kayta who was generously holding out a rope to everyone, which she took gladly with a nod of content.

"Come on Zach, where are you going?" She yelled out playfully as she watched him struggle over the sand, "It's so much better up here!"

OOC: Just updated the first post on the OCC thread. Assume that you're chara's already jumped on the rock beast.

BIC: Mai thankfully took some of Kayta's rope, "Thanks" She muttered before looking back, "Hey John, nice to meet you. I'm Mai" She said with a smile on her face, her long hair blowing behind her. At least it seemed like a fairly nice group to share this hell of an expirience with. She braced herself as it stopped as it reached Zach and Layla.

Alex slowly reached out for a small portion of the rope whilst looking around at the other volunteers. As he finished studying them, a nagging feeling in the back of his mind formed. Frowning, he glanced down and noticed that his books were missing.
"So uhh, awkward question - Anybody seen my books?" He said awkwardly, as it wasn't exactly the time and place to be concerned about a couple of books.

Kayta gave Alex a funny look. "You brought books?" she asked. Oh yeah. She remembered thinking that he looked like a bookworm because he had a few books with him. "Well, if they aren't here, then you probably dropped them. And if you dropped them in that sand, they're probably long gone by now."

Alex sighed deeply. "Yeah...I guess so...pity, those books were really important to me." He glanced down at the sand, almost giving it a dirty look. He slowly shifted his glance back to the others, wondering if he would find other books on their little adventure

John reached into the pockets of his pants to check and make sure he hadn't lost anything. His pockets were actually rather large and held many useful items. Hmmm... lets see. John thought as his fingers felt the items he never traveled without. Glasses? Check. Cell phone? Check. Keys? Check. Wallet? Check. English to Spanish dictionary pocket book edition? Check. MP3 player? Check. John reached into his other pocket and continued checking. Fake ID? Check. Fake drivers license? Check. Box of matches? Check. Red gloves? Check. Glasses cleanser wipes? Check, check, check. John reached into his jacket pocket and felt the last item he had. Gun? Check. John had found his gun on the street and pocketed it without much conscious thought. He also had a friend who was very good at making things like a fake passport or a ID.

"Sorry I'm not a book." Zach muttered, grabbing onto 'it' and trying to pull himself out of the sand, which was about waist high now. "Oh..yes..and by the way, the sand isn't safe. Now can somebody grab my hand, this thing is all..well, kind of hard to grab onto when your knee high in freaking sand." he announced.

There was still a bit of rope left over after everyone had their peices, so Kayta threw it over the edge for Zach. She was feeling kind of guilty, because she was hiding something. She had a book in one of her pockets. It wasn't a big one, and not one of the best, but it had been a favorite of Silas's and she wasn't planning on giving it to anyone, no matter how much they wanted one. It was a very old copy of Smith of Wooten Major, by J.R.R. Tolkien, and it was already missing a few pages. She wasn't going to take it out of her pocket, where she knew it was safe. That was why she was avoiding Alex's eyes as she stared down at the shifting sand.

Xektia studied her surroundings, there were trees- a healthy green, and the sand was covered with rocks. Were these all weird rock creatures? She thought to herself as she gazed over the horizon. Looking at it, the place was bursting with life it was just hard to see at first, you had to look quite close to see the flies buzzing around (or what seemed like flies) and insects scuttling across the sand. It was a wander they weren't devoured by it. Xektia took a deep breath and turned up her music just so she could collapse into the world of rhythms before being thrown into the dangers that awaited.

Zach climbed up using the rope, and when he was about halfway up his eyes opened wide. He didn't feel something heavy pressing against his chest, no leather around his neck.."My necklace!" he shouted, looking downward into the sand. It was probably whipped away by the roaring winds, since it was actually quite light, the necklace. No..no..no.. he thought frantically. Nobody likes a sad guy. Suck it up like a man, you can sulk later when you're not walking toward death's door. He looked at the direction the wind was blowing, "Ahh..who cares?" he lied, his voice shaking as he lifted himself up. "Now let's get out of here. I'm done with this alien land already." he grinned, not even the least bit happy, but not showing it.

Nobody had Kayta fooled. She could tell how important these missing items were to their owners, and she thought about her own tie with the past. It's a good thing a jacket is kinda hard to lose, She thought. As long as you don't take it off, you're covered. She shuddered involuntarily at the thought of losing Silas's jacket, and instinctively reached up and pulled it closer around her small frame. Since it was her older brothers and not hers, it was too big for her and always felt like it was about to slide off. She knew it wouldn't, but still. She looked at Alex and Zach, and saw how composed they were, even though they both lost something important to them. I would never be able to do that, she thought. She suddenly realized that she was staring at them and looked down at her shoes. She was angry with herself for letting her emotions show. If you showed emotion, you were weak. She was not weak.

Zach saw Kayta looking down at her shoes and he wanted to ask Are you okay? but he'd learned better from that. Although he never actually had a full conversation with a girl that wasn't his relative he knew that with some girls, especially ones that kept their feelings bottled up, that they would most likely flip out. So he kept his mouth shut. The back of his throat burned, My only memory of Carter, gone with the wind..literately. I mean, okay, I have him in my 'heart', but I can't physically touch my heart..or else there is something seriously wrong with me.Carter.. he put his hand against his chest, but he just felt his shirt. Oh.. he remembered. He realized he probably looked all 'glum' and he obtained perfect posture, his face hardening.

Mya stared into the distance in silence, listening to Zach and the sounds of the world around them. A new world where things aren't what they are...It sounds exciting and heroic to go into these type of places. I mean it'll be great...won't it? She then thought about death. But what if we die? Is there such thing as an afterlife? Will we be stuck into a world of eternal damnation? Or worse? She shook the thoughts out of her head and buried her face into her arms. Doesn't matter. I'm here anyways. I should've realized what I signed up for.

Mei saw how everyone else felt about there missing stuff and automatically reached into her pockets and remembered she hadn't really got anything that important on her, in a way she wished she had. She didn't know when or even if she'd go back.

Carmen looked back at them, "Everybody on? Let's go then. Hold on tight" She made a few quick movements and wispered something to the creature and it set off again at a fair pace, virtually gliding across the sand. Oddly gracefull for such a big crude creature. She was eager to get away from the deep purple clouds on the horizon, she knew what they meant and it wasn't good.

Kayta looked up from her shoes and saw that they were moving again. "By the way, where are we going?" she asked.

John turned to Carmen with in inquiring look. "Yeah, I'd like to know that myself. I mean, we have to be going somewhere."

Zach shrugged, "I couldn't care less about where we're going, as long as there is food, I'm satisfied." he explained.

Carmen smiled slightly as she looked forward so no one could see it before looking back, her face unshowing as before. "We are going back to my base. Yes, there will be food there as well as everything you need for your journey." Before anyone could reply to that she looked round, "Looks like we're here" Although, there seemed to be nothing there. It was just the same strange sand, rocks jetting out of it and odd trees scattered around (The gound appeared to harden at the base of the trees). She took out a whistle from her pocket and blew it hard though no audiable(sp?) sound came out.
