~Choices~

The woman slowly but elegantly turned towards the person who ha spoken and looked down slightly, examining the girl as if she could see straight through her. Her thoughts a mystery, nothing being revealed through her blemishless face and dark eyes. She looked at the girl for a few long seconds before repling, "Patience, child. All will be revealed in due time." Her voice was quieter but still rang out with authority.

 

Kayta had made another quick judgement when the strange woman came through the door. I don't like her, She decided. Not at all. But she still wanted to have answers. And so far, all the stranger had said was "You must be the volunteers." She rolled her eyes and looked back down. She did have one question to ask now though. "When are we going to start?" she asked.

 

She just looked at the woman. Patience was something Xektia was never great at so she remained quiet. When Kayta spoke up Xektia couldn't help but admire her, so eager yet so calm about the entire situation- what was gonig through her head? Xektia questioned herself, completely forgetting the volunteering.

 

As soon as he saw the lady natural instinct came to him, "How old are you? You look kind of old. Shouldn't you be retired?" he muttered, quickly shutting up as he mentally killed himself with a sledge hammer. "I mean..erm..we're volunteers, and we're happy to help." he said quickly and more maturely.

 

"Ha-eh, ahem," Hayato corrected what could have been a laugh by clearing his throat upon hearing Zach's comment. "The volunteers we are," he said, putting his right hand out to shake her hand. He smiled politely, closing both eyes so no green and blue were visible. "I'm Hayato."

 

Slowly and gracefully, the woman turned to Katya, "Do not fret, we will start soon enough."

The woman's head snapped round almost instantanious with a look that could be described as a glare through her dark eyes to look at the boy who had spoken. She did not reply immediatly to him but rasied a perfect eyebrow. Finally she spoke with restaint "My age should not concern you" Before giving the boy who had introduced himself a nod of acknowledgement.

Mai had to work hard to supress a laugh as what Zach said, though she knew it wouldn't be the best idea to laugh right now. She remained silent for now, just watching carefully. The woman kind of intimited her, there was something unusal about her, something different but she couldn't quit put her finger on it. Thinking about her age from Zach, she tried to work out her age. Mai wouldn't of called her old, though she could see where Zach was coming from, the woman seemed kind of ageless. She had no wrinkles or grey hair but the way she moved seemed expirienced. Her thoughts though were interupted as the woman spoke again, this time louder so everyone could hear her clearly.

"I would like to make it perfectly clear that this is your choice, should you choose to volunteer and follow me though that door, it is solely of your free will. However, once you have entered that door you have made your choice, you cannot back out. This is your last chance to change your mind, if you are not certain you want to do this, go now. For you cannot turn back later. Also anyone who wants to volunteer must do so now, this is your one and only chance to do so. Once we have gone though the door, no one else can volunteer. Do I make myself clear?"

 

Xektia bit her lip to stop herself from laughing but she couldn't help smiling at Zach's comment. When the woman spoke again Xektia was filled with a strange fear, an uncertainty. It was strange, she was 100% certain she was ready for this, all the way here she was excited for it but now she feared what was beyond the door- No, she couldn't back out, not now. "I'm ready, I will NOT change my mind."

 

Kayta didn't answer. She simply looked up at the door, no fear in her heart, ready for whatever lay behind it. There was nothing for her here. No reason to turn back. It didn't matter what was behind that door. If it was something dangerous, she didn't mind dying. In fact, she looked forward to it. And if this whole thing was just a scam trying to get a bunch of free labor for some boring unending job, she could just end it anyway.

 

Zach gulped, the shark tooth from his neck feeling as though it weighed him down. Not scared. Happy. he tried to convince himself, taking a deep breath. He put on a fake smile, "You die at some point right?" he blurted, winking at the strange lady who Zach thought for sure hated him with a burning passion.

 

John reached up and adjusted his glasses. Even though John was scared of what might be behind that creepy black door, their was no backing down now. Even if this turned out to be the worst choice in his life, he wanted to do something new. He didn't drive a stolen taxi cab all the way to a small town he didn't know the name of for nothing.

 

Hayato quickly withdrew his hand when the lady left him hanging and nodded. He stepped back and placed his hands in his pockets, standing straight. What a weird procedure, he thought to himself, squinting in the sunlight. "Understandable," he said, though he didn't think it was the least bit understandable. "I believe nobody here will turn around. I'm sure we've all had simple lives and it's time to do something exciting and balance it out, am I right?" He asked everyone as he looked at each person individually.

 

Kayta scoffed at Hayato's words. "Simple. Right." She said, scowling at him. But she noticed he said something about balance. What did that mean? Now she was curious, and whenever she was curious, she tried her best to not show it. This she accomplished by once again, glaring down at her shoes.

 

"Simple..right..." he muttered, looking at the ground. If by simple you mean living hell, then yes, yes my life is simple. he thought, shaking away a strange feeling. Balance? Bring Carter back, then we'll talk about balance. he sighed. Then for some incredibly strange reason he wanted to do the tango, all alone. Why? He had no clue. "Can we just start already?" he groaned at the lady.

 

Mai nodded, "I for one won't be backing down" She said, sounding more confident than she felt. The woman's words had intimidted her and made her doubt slightly but she wasn't going to let her stop her. She was determined to do this and simple words wasn't going to change her mind.

The woman looked at each of them in turn before saying "As you wish. Follow me if you still want to do this but remember my words. This shouldn't be done lightly and once you have gone through the door, you cannot back out." With than she span round, opened the black door and stepped through without another word.

Mai gulped, but she wanted to do this. She glanced round at the others before walking up to the door. It was strange, even though the door was open she couldn't see what was inside without going through. "Well here goes nothing" She said with a smile to the others, took a deep breath and stepped into the unknown.

 

Kayta hesitated for an instant. In that fraction of a second all the anticipation and curiousity she had kept at bay rushed over her, overwhelming her and making her breathe a little faster than usual. This is it, she thought, then stepped through, head held high. She wasn't going to face the unknown without seeing what it was.

 

John took a deep breath. No going back. He stepped toward the door and then hesitated. Looking behind him, John closed his eyes and breathed in the familiar air, then he spun around and sprinted through the door and into the unknown.

 

"Yes, finally!" he said, throwing his arms up in the air and skipping through the door in the most feminine way he tried.

OOC: Basically a strange woman can through the door. Said a few things, this being the most important:

And then left through the black door. If your chara wants to volunteer they should go through it.

I'm waiting for everyone to go through the door before posting what's on the other side.

 

Xektia took a deep breath. The long awaited time was finally here- whatever was behind that door, she knew many questions would be raised and that excited her. She confidently stepped toward the black door, This better not be something really pointless now, it better actually be interesting with a chance of death- Xektia thought to herself, smiling in a giggly way. She could just expect gonig through it and coming into a warehouse filled with boxes and the tall scary woman turning to them and laughing. A strange image but one Xektia couldn't let go of.
