As a child, what were your fears?

My biggest one was bees. They just freaked me out.

We went on some hiking field trip in fifth grade, and I almost fell off the edge because a bee freaked me out.

I'm still nervous around them, but I don't get freaked out.

I had and still have a fear of Heights. I can't even go on a ferris wheel without freaking out because something in my mind just makes me think"OMG It's to high I'm going to fall!!!!!!", but weird enough- I'm not scared of planes-I love them xD

I also have a fear of any bugs- moths,water-bugs, Bees. They are just scary and for bees I'm scared they are going to kill meh ^^; Two of my friends terrorized me when I was little by trying to get the bees to chase me T_T

And that's all I can think of right now XD

Huh, me too. I think I'm technically more afraid of falling, if it's a closed cart I can be on a Ferris Wheel, but if it's an open place with a chance of leaning over, starting at about 10 feet I get really bad vertigo, and if I can't remove myself from the situation, I go into a panic attack. I actually found out about the fear on a Ferris Wheel when I was about 12-13 xDx

I'm not sure if it counts as a phobia, but I get terrified when I'm lost. I got separated from my mom and sisters when we were at a park when I was about 5, and ever since I get panicky and want to cry if I can't find the my way.

Bugs, snakes and sharks still give me the major creeps, too.

I was afraid of a couple of things when I was little...

The biggest fear I had (and still have) was spiders. I'm pretty sure it originated because my parents took my older sister and I to watch Spider Man when I was 3 years old. I don't think I was ever scared of spiders before that. One time, while at school , a spider was crawling up my leg and I didn't notice until my friend told me. Instead of screaming, I fainted. T_T

Another fear I had was about being left alone, especially with a stranger. Because of this, my parents had to drag me into some of my lessons (piano, swimming, violin, etc). And heights too. I refused to do the monkey bars because I was afraid of heights , but I overcame that fear in sixth grade...

Heights bigtime. I'm still not over it. I had an irrational fear of all birds. ANY bird i'd be terrified of. I'm over that one now, almost. I'm still very, very frightened of magpies. Aside from that, i just have the fear alot of people have; the fear of dying alone.

I had a horrible fear of bones, especially the skull. It was horrible, my older sister used to flash this 'bone book' with a picture of the skeleton spine and head on the front, it freaked me out horribly to the point where I cried and ran away screaming. I don't know what brought this fear on and everytime I went to my mums school we'd have to pass the biology department where there was a skeleton at the door, I couldn't go down that corridor which was inconvenient because it was the quickest way from the entrance to my Mum's classroom xD

Either way the fear disappeared, I don't know how but I don't mind them any more but if I see that exact bone book then I feel a bit scared. It's the same with spiders, I used to be terrified of them but then I got over it and now it's come back O.o

The one thing I feared most as a child was this guy
    [IMG]

Slappy from Goosebumps. I'm still very much frightened by him even now, as some people on Voxli know. I remember when I first saw the first episode of Night Of The Living Dummy I didn't sleep for two or more days and refused to be left alone with my little sister's dolls in case they would alive and try to make me into a Slave. I watched the other Dummy episodes later on, that only made my fear much, much worse I began to hear Slappy's voice and kept having Nightmares about him being in the cupboard next to my bed, it got so bad to the point I would make my older sister go on "Slappy check" before bed/lights out, making sure she would check every nook and cranny in my bedroom.Reading the books didn't help much either. I don't know why he scared me so much..just bleh, shivers even now by just thinking of the creepy thing.

Another thing I feared was travelling by Aeroplane and ending up crashing and dying. Bleh.

I think my biggest and scariest fear was of Jason, Freddy, and Chucky. Just as a kid I was freaked of so many dark places because I always felt like something was going to pop up behind me and attack me.
(I watched a lot of horror movies even as a kid)

There was also a little bit of heights, but more so because I kinda lose my balance when I'm in a higher place.(Well, sorta, I just don't really know how to describe it)

A child with an over-active imagination can have no greater fear than what she cannot see. I was afraid of the dark--or, more precisely, what I had room to believe was in the dark.

That and most insects. I've grown out of that for the most part, though I still get skittish around bees, wasps, and hornets, and spiders still creep me out.

Actually, I had a lot of fears... I was a fragile child. But I maintain that the dark was the worst. Probably because I still don't like to wake up to a power outage in the middle of the night.

I have a fear of needles and pins, Chucky, and that clown from IT (Tim Curry <). For pins, I guess it was sharp and pointy. Chucky just downright scared the hell of me for two reasons.

    1) It's scars.
    2) It's a doll. I'm now scared of dolls.

The clown from IT put me off clowns for a while. I think it was because of it's menacing grin and teeth. But now I can watch IT without being at all freaked.

As a kid, I was very, very afraid of clowns. Not so much now. But I currently have a fear of flying and heights.

I also remember when I was younger being terrified of getting water in my eye, even though it didn't hurt that much (unless I got shampoo as well) and it has me thinking as to whether it helped cause my minor hydrophobia at this present day. I'm not petrified of it I just hate going under water in a pool (can't go anywhere near the sea because of jellyfish) yet it's only recently come about like within the last 6 months, I was fine beforehand.

With me, I'm afraid of water, spiders, and tornados. And ferris wheels. I'm good with heights, but I can't do ferris wheels. With spiders, I've always been afraid of them, ever since I was like, two and learned that they usually have eight eyes. That always just really creeped me out. With water, I (lol) never went swimming until I was nine, and everything went great until I fell under the water and my lifejacket trapped me under a giant inner tube. I'm still not sure how that happened, but it did, and to this day, I freak out whenever my feet can't touch the ground. Needless to say, I still can't swim. And then with tornado's, I developed my fear when I was ten. I had written a report for school on tornado's, and how deadly they were. That night, there was a tornado in the area. With the facts fresh in my mind, and all my ten year-old friends screaming about how they were going to die, it made quite an impression on my mind. With Ferris wheels, I have no emotionally scarring backstory, I just can't stand 'em.

My biggest fear when I was a child would have to be goin into the dark.
I think it's because i used my imagination alot (still do) so I always thought something would pop out, grab me and drag me to somewhere to kill me. x3

Which is why I was always afraid to go into my basement in my house becae the lights down there were always dim lights and the stairs creaked a lot which was really freaky. So whenever I went down there to get back up I always ran as fast as I could look right behind me to make sure there was nothing going to grab me.
Although I'm not afraid of the dark anymore (yay) I still look behind my head when going up those stairs. :( (I think it's an instinct)

Oh, yeah, I'm also afraid of going up stairs if I know the floor I'm leaving is completely empty. Like, If I'm the last one to leave a floor, and I turn the lights off and then walk upstairs with my back to the open (or closed) doorway, I feel like there's someone going to follow me. I find myself turning around to make sure there's no face peeking out at me. No reason for this fear, I just have it.

Butterflies and grim reapers DX scariest things in the universe..
Butterflies are so obnoxious and fly in your face and all around you and stick to your clothes..hell with wings I tells ya.

Grim reapers scare me all because of that public info ad that's really old with the grim reaper and the drowning child..gave me a nightmare where I was the one drowning and then his eyes popped out of his head when I woke up..can't even look at a picture of one anymore ):

You and butterflies is the funniest thing in the world.
    It must be said.

But myself,I used to be extremly scared of small spaces. As in I couldnt even get in a lift without completely freaking out,and having a panic attack. I guess this could come from having to hide in a tiny press under the sink for 5 hours when I was a child. Oh family....
I am pretty much over that fear though, unless someone actually mentions that its a tiny space with no room. And I freak. But I am much more controlled, its just a mini panic attack to myself instead of crying and fainting.
And I still do need the window seat if I am going anywhere on a bus or an aeroplane.

Other than that,I guess I have always been scared of seeing those I love die.
    Like my brother for example.
Not so much my mother and father. But Oisin my brother, and then my friends.
Couldnt bear to see them die.

Chucky, big time; my only true major fear, I suppose. I went through a "phase", so to speak, of being afraid of clowns (even though they still freak me out a little). But why Chucky? I'm not exactly sure. The first image I ever saw of him, I freaked out and ran to my mom, closing my eyes. I'm still afraid to look at any picture associated with him.

For example, I was at school a couple weeks ago and my teacher decided to let us pick a movie on Netflix to watch in our free time. As we scrolled down the list of movies, we passed the 'Horror' section. And guess which movie was one of the pictures? Child's Play. :I

Now when me and my sister explore Netflix, I always close my eyes so she can check if there's a picture of him. Even when I'm typing this, I'm checking behind me constantly because even the thought of him scares me to death.

This fear of Chucky is probably the main cause of my fear of dolls and the dark. Especially movies with dolls (no matter what they look like) that talk or move around in any way (like Slappy from Night of the Living Dummy).

Now onto my fear of the dark. I am petrified to go into dark places, even my own room when the lights are out. Like I said, this fear came about mostly because of Chucky. I'm always nervous when I'm in the dark because I afraid Chucky will pop out of nowhere and kill me. Even now, the room I'm typing this in is very well lit.

Let me give you a run-down of how I get to my room when it is night and everyone is asleep...

    1. Turn on every light downstairs.
    2. Go back to the Den (where the computer is) and shut off all lights.
    3. Repeat with all rooms until you reach the Living Room and the Stairway.
    4. Turn on light switch to light the Stairway.
    5. Shut off all remaining lights in Living Room.
    6. Go upstairs and head to your room (which is directly left of where the Stairway ends).
    7. Turn on all lights in room.
    8. Go back into Stairway and turn off light.
    9. Run into your room and shut the door.
    10. Turn off all lights.
    11. Climb up ladder onto top bunk and hide under covers until you feel safe again.
    12. Hug your stuffed animals to help.

    Yup. Every single night this goes on. And all because of Chucky. >.>;;

EDIT: Sometimes I'm even afraid to browse the forum in fear a picture of Chucky will appear. I was actually very hesitant to even open this thread

Let's see... When I was younger, I was afraid of heights and fear of dark.

When I was 7 I lost my fear of dark. This year I have lost my fear of heights.

But my greatest fear until now is loose someone I love. So somehow I don't fear anything if I'm with Trully, Lexibrag or Evil Twin (my bests friends), actually, they are the ones that made me lost my fear of heights and dark. Now I just fear loose they or some of my family... I think it's just this.
