Cheerleading Fraud????

mkay well today was the first day me being at skool since they announced who made it in cheerleading and it was horrible out of 74 girls i was the lucky 20 who made it and the thing is that the majoriy of the girls hwo tired out were popular and pretty and skinny so when they found out that some not so pretty girls made it they got mad and started talkin smack and were like they only made it cuz they sucked up to the teacher they are all ugly and fat andi felt upset cuz they mentiioned my name and so in order to be a cheerleader do u have to be a skinny blonde model or is it the talent that counts? what do u think about this ???

 

I'd say it's the talent that really counts in cheerleading...
It doesn't really matter if you're skinny & beautiful or fat & ugly.... As long as there's talent, that's all that matters ^_^

 

Some people are called poor losers for a reason. Your talent and also amiability is important to being a cheerleader. Obviously if they didn't make it, it's because whether they were skinny, blonde etc, they had a crappy attitude and you don't. They show it to be true the more they target those of you who actually made it and try to make up reasons why they lost while putting you down. It's best to ignore that type of attitude and if they get in your face tell them that their behavior now they expose was obviously seen by the judges and no one wants cheerleader *****es. They want people to rouse the audience and for a positive feeling, which they don't have. Don't let them bring you down. You made it and that is spectacular, especially with that many people to go against. Great job!

lol no prob and yea i'll try not to but its hard cuz they make it sound like i don't deserve to be there and some popular girls who did make it kept giving me dirty glances :( but i'll try to be happy after a cheerleader always has to be happy

 

Having been a boyfriend of cheerleaders... I know too much about this sport. Bigger, usually stronger, people, not saying you are, are required for bases to do stunts and such. Without the people at the bottom, those skinny chicks wont go anywhere. So let em whine about diversity on the team, its called life, theyll get used to it.

Cheerleading is definitely about talent, if you are a good cheerleader you will get discovered by someone.
Unfortunately it is that way that competetive girls judge each other fast and on what populatiry scale you are on at school.
But you will most definitely be on a team if you keep working and improve.
Oh, and at last; why should anyone else decide if you look good or not.

 

I'm hesitant about posting on this subject since I rather despise cheerleaders. All they really are is eye candy and degrading to the feminine body and women as a whole.

I've noticed this in high schools and professional cheerleaders like the Dallas Cowboys. They will take the skinner more good looking girls over say someone who does have a natural stomach. And by natural I mean just a little flab on the midsection that most women do have.

But I'm sure you don't want me to turn this thread into a rant. It's good that you made the squad and can see that there is something wrong with the system in place. Though the girls that can't accept that less popular girls made it on seriously need an attitude adjustment.

Good luck. What I do know of cheerleading is that it does take a lot of you like gymnastics.

It's typical of people to auto label cheerleaders *****es and ****s because of all the movies.
But there are actually nice squads out there to xD.

 

yup i agree and well i can be superficial which is something i hate bout me but when i saw the list i was like are u 4 real cuz it wasn't like the past years all skinny and pretty this time it was diverse and i was like well i guess this years coach really bases ur spot on talent and brain cuz if had low grades she wouldn't let u try out she has a big thing on school

 

That's actually a common thing. Least in my experience and knowledge. If you were below a 'C' average, you could not participate in sports at all.

And yes I know there are good squads out there but they're sadly a minority, or we just don't hear about them.

I used to be a cheerleader *shot* and I am brunette xD and nowhere near what can be called attractive.

xD Our squad was based on talent and attitude, there were some of the really beautiful girls who tried out but didn't get onto the squad :3 mainly because of their attitudes and lack of talent :P

However, this was at a school in England, cheerleading isn't as big over here as it is in America, and sadly, yes the stereotype over there does seem to be super skinny, super pretty *****y chicks <_>

Though the fact that cheerleading is also classed as a highly recognised sport, goes to show that it is not all superficial :3

Congrats on making the squad ^^ and it is a sad fact of life that there will always be some ***** trying to put you down, just tell yourself that you got there and you belong there. ​

Agression is a sign of frustration, she will get over it, though I will say if any of them are violent again, then tell someone, I don't care if you think it is snitching, no one should be treated that way.

I know it is hard xD I do, but at the end of the day all you can be is to be yourself, don't let them ruin your chance and don't let their selfish attitudes affect your happiness ^^ you should be proud of yourself :)​

Cheerleading definitely should rely on talent and school spirit, and not on looks at all. However, a lot of the time this ends up not being the case for whatever reason: Maybe the coach is prejudice towards overweight people or people without natural beauty. This is most definitely the case in my school.

That is partially the reason why Cheerleaders are stereotyped as *****es; becuase people think that the only reason they are cheerleaders is becuase they are pretty, which, like I said above, is true in some cases, but in others, it IS actually based on ability.

It's good to hear talk of a school where the Cheerleaders are not mostly made up of beautiful preppy girls with mediocre talent. I truly hope your school continues to make it's choices based on ability.
