No. I google "casual gif" and pick whichever I like at the moment. Besides, what do you have against a taoism?

How is it that every time I read your stuff I never know how I should respond.

I Khv while I'm in woodshop most of the time, so I think that counts, probably.

Ok, so this is just off the top of my head, feel free to sample from it at your leisure. Think of it like a brainstorm buffet :L

First off, I have suggestions for alternative names. Psychic and Reaper are nice but I feel like you could get away with spicing them up a lil bit. For psychics I was always partial to Esper, and as for reaper figures I'm rather fond of the Ankou lore - Check out those links at your leisure, but they pretty much mean what you'd think they mean.

Mechanically... I'd see a psychic as a mana-heavy class: many abilities to take damage and dish it out magnificently, until they run out of steam - maybe things like huge telekinetic blasts, psychic barriers that absorb damage but drain MP, so on and so forth. So with Jiku's archetypes that'd probably be a striker, good damage but needs backup. I see a reaper as being a class that spreads status and debuffs, then when the enemy is crippled takes them all out in one fell swoop - things like curses, poisons, zombification, lowering attack/defense etc., and then maybe skills that hit for bonus damage on ailing foes. So I guess that's a mix of striker and controller? Idk I study a different set of archetypes :v

I imagine both classes would be frail, with the psychic's only defense being her skills, so they'd want to stay on the offensive and end fights as quickly as possible. They'd likely have trouble against tanky foes or in battles of attrition, unless they get backup from other players.

    Hope that helps :L

I believe the term is "glass canon" :P

Your angle on Reapers very much seems to be steeped in plague lore. Personally, I think you can get away with poison, but stuff like blind is a bit less fitting, and on a personal level, I feel like zombification runs completely counter to the intent of a Reaper :P

Anyways, the biggest trademark of pretty much ANY Reaper type class is the Doom Counter. It's not a requirement, but it's a common cliche. If you're looking for inspiration for indivdual death related abilities, Final Fantasy X would be a good place to look

On the topic of a Psychic, there's a somewhat less common variant that I'm partial to, a more martial or physical style of psychokinesis, easiest example I can think of is The Froce from Star Wars. Basically the idea is rather than outright using magic to manipulate things it's more about attuning yourself to some life force or other and manipulating that, much like Ki with a blackbelt or monk type character

Mkay, that's enough rambling for the moment

All of you guys are really helpful. I was stressing over this for the past week and kept scrapping what I wrote. And I didn't think a lot of people would reply (2 pages!) I have a lot to work with now, I just hope it all turns out the way I see it in my head.

Much easier said than done, my friend. No matter how hard you may try, nothing will ever be as good on paper as it is in your head. You just have to use your resources and get it as close as possible. It's taken me six months to tweak a fic I wrote in five nights to my liking (though that fic also happened to be a gift, so that might be another issue altogether).

No, because that implies pure frailty, while what I'm thinking of is more like a mana tank.
    I... didn't say blind?

Sorry, blind is my current mental association with "weaken attacks" because I've been playing lots of hit-based RPGs lately

And you can't be Mana Tank unless you have some way of surviving based on your Mana
(Like I'm pretty sure there's a Dragoon ability called Spirit Barrier that drains MP instead of health for X turns)

What you're describing, a character who can hit hard but is frail, is basically a textbook Glass Canon

There are a lot of ways to describe that status.

I agree, I think zombification runs as far opposite of a psychopomp or any other Reaper concept I've ever seen ever. Zombies are a perversion of death and the principle death god in D&D4e has all of her followers destroy all zombies and necromancers with extreme prejudice. So that's probably the worst thing to go with.

I've never seen a DOOM COUNTER or equivalent function on any Reaper character in any game, either tabletop or digital. It is not the biggest trademark by several dozen lightyears. It's probably a cliche or trope like you said, but far less than you seem to think.

That's a different class. Psions and monks are usually separated probably due to the fact that one is wisdom based and the other is intelligence based. Mind versus brain in a sense. It makes the flavor very different even if you can stretch it such that similar roles are given.

My experience largely comes from video games in regard to the Reaper thing. The idea being something along the lines of the Grim Reaper stalking you, your death being inevitable yet not instant, all that. It's also commonly associated with a scythe, which I'd assume would be the weapon that matches this style.

It PROBABLY exists for more instant death being OP than anything else though

I've never actually heard of the Psion class, and I kinda want to look them up after I send this

Oh and another thing, depending on how literal this Reaper class is, something related to souls, or representative, like a drain/heal or MP reducing would probably be good

I scrapped a lot of my stories because no matter how much I tried I couldn't get them down on paper the way that made sense in my head.

I promise if this story does turn out I'm giving all of you guys credit for helping me out with this.

Not lying, I actually have to look this up to see what it was. And I was thinking since both of those classes would have low defense I would add another character who is more melee-ish or has a better defense, I had actually been so caught up on these two characters that I haven't worked on any others yet. :P

I keep coming up with more class ideas the more I think about it. It's kinda weird but I guess It's good because I won't have any shortage a material to work with.

There are ways to do more physical focused Reapers. Just make them heavy hitters with a giant scythe or something

You said his name completely backwards and I have the strong desire to cut your hands off.
