All right, so I don't know what's going, but the charger will not supply power to my cell phone's battery so it can charge.

This happened once before with my PSP charger, and getting a new custom-charger from Fred Meyer worked.
However, it doesn't have the right plug-in for my cell phone, and my cell phone is totally dead and needs a charge.

This isn't an emergency or anything, if it sounds that way, by the way.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, if it's plugged in, I can only think of 3 reasons it won't work:
    1) The port won't work
    2) The plug isn't getting electricity, making it basically a dead plug
    3) The end of the charger is messed up and can't supply anything

These may not even be what's going on, but it's the only thing I can think of that might explain why it doesn't work

It's most likely the 3rd one, since that's what happened to my PSP's original charger.
The only problem, though, is that I'm not sure if Fred Meyer sells custom-chargers for cell phones.

umm, call me crazy, but why not just go to something like Wal-Mart, Target, or even a Verizon/Apple/other place and find a charger there

You should take your phone to your provider's store and test with a different battery/charger and see what they can do for you.

Best option. It is probably just a dead cable. They make the things pretty cheap, esspecially the stock one you get with the phone. But I can't imagine that they aren't producing a cable to sell you. And if the cable isn't the problem they would be the best equiped to help you.

Just to be clear though, have you tested the power outlet to make sure that is fine. No sense buying replacement stuff if you simply need to plug it in somewhere else.

I have learned the best way to test it is with either your tongue or finger.
If you actually do that, you're an idiot

What phone is it? It should, regardless, be easy to find a charger on amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart, Target, BestBuy, or Radioshack

I'm certain it's the cable, because I went through the same thing with the original charger that came with my PSP when it wouldn't charge -- I got a custom-charger from Fred Meyer, and it started charging again.

We're going to go to Fred Meyer tonight to see if they have anything.

    It's the stupid phone.
    The plug-in is busted.

Luckily, since my mom's old one is also an LG, I can just transfer stuff, including the number, over to her phone, but I'm not sure if that will also include my contacts.

It's too dead that it just shuts off when I turn it on.

You said they are both LG, are they the same model phone? or at least close enough to have the same specs on the battery? If so you could use her phone to charge both batteries for the time being.

She just stopped using it because she didn't want to top-up both phones, so we went with mine.

Anyway, my battery doesn't fit -- it's smaller than hers.

    I just thought of something.

Since the charge plug-in broke, is there any other way to charge the battery?
For example, using an outside device meant to charge cell phone batteries.

well, there isn't any way besides using a charger, but if you did have a Universal charger I suppose you could see if that works.

We got one, thinking it was the charger that was the problem.
However, it's the plug-in on the cell phone where the charger plugs into that broke, so that universal charger didn't work, either.

There has to be something like that, though.

Something like the chargers for rechargeable batteries.
The cell phone battery would be placed into something, and it would charge.

It would need to have been made for your model of phone. Considering the low demand, they aren't that common. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

We can transfer stuff over -- minutes and number.
I'm just worried about my contacts.

Alright, what is the exact model of phone you have? Maybe I can dig something up but LG isn't much to go off of.

His phone can't turn on to do that.

Well, we got the minutes and phone number, as well as voice mails, transferred over.
    Sadly, contacts couldn't.

Here is the model number, though: LG160

    Also, yeah, it's completely dead.
    No battery at all.

I waited on this to see if I would get some more feedback, but since the main problem has been resolved, this may be locked.

Also, Mixt, if you find any information regarding retrieving my lost contacts on my dead cellular phone, feel free to send me a visitor message or a private message.
