www.polygon.com/2013/4/9/4179628/mega-man-fps-maverick-hunter There's a lot more in the article including several videos. Thanks to Stardust for showing me this. 8D But I would have found it anyways considering it was mentioned in Siliconera as well. Anyways, the videos there are just "proof of concept" stuff that is based on only 6 months of work. So don't judge it harshly. As a huge fan of the Mega Man franchise, more specifically the X series, I think that this could have been great. Dashing was there(both on ground and in air), some basic melee combat seemed to be present, the HUD looked pretty nice, and the overall redesign of X isn't terrible. I'm upset that they were planning on making the X buster more realistic though. It seems that while X could use enemy weapons, they weren't copied but rather stolen. With Inafune gone though...it's hard to say that it's not the reason why it was canceled. Oh well. Us Mega Man fans are used to this abuse by now. It's easy to say "FPS? GARBAGE!" but despite Capcom being greedy they do make great games. Plus it's not like it'd be a pointless "gritty" reboot of the X series considering that the story was dark if you paid attention to it. Oh well, guess I'll have to keep waiting to see if X will ever have another game.
The Megaman series will never get a reboot. Many speculate a rebirth of the 8-bit hero, but I digress. If they wanted to keep making Megaman games, they would have, it wasn't as if Megaman was selling poorly, quite the opposite. Capcom still has the rights to Megaman, but Keiji Inafune, the "Father of Megaman" has left Capcom, and in Japan, creator's of games have a really important influence. Miyamoto for example practically runs Nintendo, and Kingdom Hearts' Tetsuya Nomura is really influential to the series, only characters from a select number of Final Fantasy games make an appearance? The reason? Tetsuya designed the characters. None of this fully explains why they haven't made another Megaman game under this criteria except for respect, which I highly doubt though.
...I'm... trying to imagine walljumping in first person. That's some Mirror's Edge sh#% right there. I've never been into Megaman enough to say I'm a hardcore fan, but it still makes me sad to hear news about it. I can imagine how the fans must feel. Kinda like the Sonic and FF fans, in fact. Well, except the one has actually seen a few mildly successful revival attempts as of late, and there are still some people who enjoy and defend the Fabula Nova Crystallis project. *shudders*
Really a bummer that Megaman didn't get something like Samus did xD those two are awesome. I would have played the game, had it been made, because it truly sounds awesome, despite me hating the FPS Genre. People defend that? Don't get me wrong, I love Lightning and Noctis looks awesome, but at this point, it's not Fabula Nova Crystallis, it's "Lightning's Three Part Story that everyone hates because it's not VSXIII"
