The kid couldn't help himself becaus if his mentality and the bus driver couldn't help it either, anybody would snap against getting asaulted which in short is what he did regardless of his mental health.

You can't blame anyone in this situation, there should have been a monitor there, and when you throw a can at someone, yelling at him or talking to him isn't going to stop him from doing it again. She could have handled it better, but they shouldn't have put him on that bus in the first place, especially with the way he acts. They knew he would've gone crazy like that.

I would take a really strong person to put up with that, mental illness or not. I mean, he was throwing sh*t at her, interfering with her driving, which could possibility kill them both. Besides, it didn't even look like she was choking him, only grabbing him by the shirt to scare him. What else could she do? There was no monitor or anything! If she did actually choke him, that was inexcusable. Like I said, she could have grabbed him by the shirt. But in the end, it's neither the kid or the diver's fault, but the county's. There SHOULD have been a monitor. The diver should have refused to take him home without one, because of the potential of getting them all killed. He would have been fine just waiting at the school for him parents.

From what it sounds like, they were trying to see if the kid could behave on his own for the first time.

The kid, mentally ******ed or not, could have been planning it or was just being mean. There all all levels of disabilities, and he could be smart enough to have waited for when they didn't monitor him. Or he could have done it for the hell of it, or his disability, there's a thousand different reasons.

In any case, he shouldn't have been doing that, and the driver shouldn't tolerate it. Note: All drivers by law can't physically touch a child while they're in the bus. This includes gang fights, bullying, and other things. A kid has been beaten to near death by a broom once on a school bus and the driver couldn't do anything.

Whether or not this is going to be an exception, who knows. But she had a right to shake him, I don't know if she choked him, it's hard to see.

When you have a mental disability, you have difficulty controling your behavior, and the more serious the degree, the harder it is. I don't believe the chil had much control, and I do believe the bus driver should have taken better control of the situation.

I don't care if he was mentally ******ed or not, in my book, although I don't live in America or know the system, if he threw a can at the driver, he should have been punished for his actions. ******ed means slow so he would understand eventually, I'm sick of the word ******ed being used as a synonym for Autistic, which he showed signes of being. And I did not hear her on the tape say choked, in fack it sounded like she said shook. IMO I beleive that, although the driver maybe was a bit ott, the media has dressed her up to be a heartless cow.

I have a learning disability and have full control of myself, thank you.

I also have autism and maybe ADHD. Don't label kids with mental disabilities as "unpredictable". There are varying degrees, and he maybe couldn't have controlled his actions, but I know that if I ever did that or anyone else who did anything like that, they would get in trouble.

I grew up with emotional problems sometimes, and I never threw anything or did anything like that to anyone. Neither did all the kids I knew in special ed, even the temperamental ones. He could've had a more severe disability, but don't label everyone as "unpredictable" who are mentally disability.

I agree with the post above. She seemed to be shaking the kid. Also, that seemed to be supervised before that and he probably at least knew he was doing something wrong.

On another note, my cousin is very violent and I wouldn't put it past him to behave like this kid in the video. Or even worse. He's never been tested for any disabilities, though. It doesn't mean that he doesn't have it, but he would do the same thing and get mad and hit the driver for her shaking him.

I also have Autism (Asperger's syndrome, if you want to get specific) and I also have control over myself and I've never done any such thing either. Unfortunately, I know many Autistic kids that don't and it's a huge problem for them. The kid in the video reminded me a person I knew at school that has a very severe degree of Asperger's.
I was just making a general statement and was in no way my intention to label everybody with Autism as "unpredicatble."

I blame the district for not having a monitor and I blame the parents for leaving their child alone. This just goes to show that most people like the bus driver have a slight level of patience.

By the way, off topic I know, but what is the difference between Asbergers and Autism. my mum used to work in Mental health and she said that Asbergers is just a mild form of Autism, is that true?

Yeah. But sometimes it can be pretty bad, like on kid at my school as it and he throws tantrums and yells alot. He's 15, so he gets alot of strange look and so on. It's not really his fault, but it is what it is.

Asburgers is sorta like Autism, ADHD, there's two types, I have the rarer kind where you can't concentrate and stare into space a lot. And a learning disability. That's what I know about it, my mom thinks that's what I have.

There should've been a monitor for that child, and the bus driver could've chilled a little bit. The kid shhould've been watched...
Why didn't the district put up a monitor Dx
Cruel to the child and the driver, but the entire situation could've been better.

It's simple. It's neither one's fault. The child required a monitor, so if there wasn't one, the driver should have just refused to pick the kid up. The kid should never had done something like thaat, but the driver should have handled it differently.

As a side note, the mother said the reported scratches that week. I think thats BS. How would she remember ONE week nine moths ago?

I knew a kid who was a junior in my art class like that. One day he just burst out of nowhere throwing dangerous objects and yelling and security had to come and hold him back. I felt bad for him.

I would have cracked too! seriously! but i wouldn't choke the kid. and it didn't look like he was choked. But, i would have just stopped the bus, called the cops, and let them handle it.

If the kid wasn't ******ed then maybe he wouldn't be getting his ass handed to him. All joking aside, that driver is messd up.

They should've had someone to stay with the kid. Or had the kid driven home by his parents or a special teacher. They didn't allowed mentally ******ed to ride on the buses at my old school, they had to be driven to and from school by their guardians or teachers.
