Brought to Life

Sakura cocked her head in the direction of the beach.

"There are lots of kids there," she agreed.

 

Grace nodded, looking towards the beach. "I almost hope they're not there." she said quietly to Sakura, worrying about the water.

Abby smiled, "Okay, let's see if we can't spot them there." she agreed, leading them off the school and towards the beach.

 

Sakura kept her hopefully smile in place, even though she felt a little wary of the ocean herself.

 

After another run at the waves, Nicholas came back to shore to call it a day. As he was leaving, shoes in one hand and dripping surfboard under the other arm, he spotted Sakura, Grace, and Abby. Finding Sakura particularly cute, he couldn't help but feel the urge to have a little fun with her.
"Hey there, sweet stuff," He nodded towards her, heading her way. "What's a cute thing like you doin' with these two? Come to enjoy a show? Sorry, but I'm callin' quits for today. You can ask the other girls on the beach just how amazing I was. I'm sure they'll give you pleanty of details."

 

Grace was caught off guard by the boy's blunt come on to Sakura. "How dare you speak to her with such disrespect!" she blurted out in her Princess tone, forgetting that the human boy didn't have any idea who he was hitting on.

Abby looked at Grace alittle surprised by her authoratative tone, "Nicholas, don't be so rude." she chastised fondly, turning her attention back to the boy. "These two are just looking for their friends. have you seen..." she described Mia and Lucca.

Grace held tightly to Sakura's hand. She didn't trust Nicholas, even if Abby seemed to.

 

Sakura blushed and bit her lower lip, immediately staring down at the sand. She thought it best to keep silent and see if the handsome boy had indeed heard of their friends.

 

Nicholas smiled at Abby and shrugged. "Yeah, I've seen those two alright," He looked to Grace. "But if you're planning to use that hot bod of yours to flirt with that guy, don't bother. He's too tight wound for you. Why don't you try me instead?"

 

Abby laughed. "If it wasn't for that mouth you'd be such a catch." she teased. (aw, the gray doesn't show anymore :))

"Yes I'm sure." Grace crossed her arms over her chest. "Can you please point us in their direction?" she asked though her teeth. Generally she prided herself for being reasonable but he was pushing some of her few buttons just by talking.

 

"Yes," Sakura piped up in agreement. "It's really important that we find them!"

 

"I've heard that before," Nicholas replied to Abby with a little too much bravado, then addressed the girls, "I guess I'm not reeling you two in. They went down the beach that way." He pointed a thumb over his shoulder.

 

"Would you mind walking us to exactly where you last saw them?" Sakura insisted, gaining new courage with the new lead.

Sakura's confident tone kept Grace's mouth shut and her opinion to herself. Maybe he'll leave us alone after he shows us to them. she thought to herself, already having a sneaking suspition Nicholas would be popping up all over their lives now.

Abby looked at her watch. "Well I'll leave you kids to that. Don't do anything I wouldn't." she laughed. "If you two need anything else, you know where I work. Good luck finding your friends." she waved good bye and set off towards the pink store for her second shift.

Eric followed her in but kept nearer to the mouth of the cave to watch for the passing guards. He wanted to give them the most time to reach the surface. "Are you alright?" He asked as they waited. Things had been a big rush since they'd gotten out of their cells and he wanted to make sure.

 

"Okay, just checking." Eric nodded, idely toying with the shark tooth around his neck. "I think they'll be past in just a few minutes... we can go then." he didn't let it show but going to the surface made him nervous. He didn't know care much about humans and didn't know what to expect or how to protect Ame.

 

"A little more time with you two broads won't hurt, I guess," Nicholas grinned. If he wasn't holding his board and shoes, he would have put his arms around the girls; instead, he jerked his head in a 'follow me' motion. As he walked, he said, "So you're friends with the famously ditzy Mia, huh? I haven't seen you two at school -- but then, Mia did just transfer from... wherever. It'd be real nice to have two more cuties to spice up the boringness of school. Plan on joining?"

 

Grace kept her expression neutral but she wasn't sure of her footing answering him. "We're considering it." she answered diplomaticly, ignoring the title 'broads'. "What do you know about them anyways?" she asked, wanting to get a good idea of what the two had been getting up to while they'd been seperated. Famously ditzy? I hope she's not drawing too much attention...

Eric kept a watchful eye out for the guards. Soon he heard them swimming near and backed quietly towards the end of the cave, keeping Ame behind him. "They're passing." he whispered to her, reflexivly taking hold of his dagger's hilt.

 

Sakura nodded in agreement to Grace, making sure to stand next to her.

 

Grace didn't let go of Sakura's hand, esspically now.

Eric waited until the sounds of the gaurds shouts and tails thrashing through the water became queiter. "Okay, go." he whispered. "Straight up and to land."

 

"O-Okay" Ame said swimming out of the cave quickly and up towards land. She poked her head out of the water and looked around and noticed a beach where some humans were. Ame went back underwater and started swimming towards the beach quickly.

 

Eric swam behind her, looking over his shoulder every so often to be sure they weren't being followed. When his head broke the surface he saw the humans on the beach too. He scanned the beach to find a deserted area. Spotting one, he ducked under the water again and swam with Ame towards it. "We have to get dried off before we walk on land." he reminded her.

 

"Oh yeah...I sorta forgot" Ame said starting to swim towards the deserted area. We'll finally be safe now hopefully that area is actually deserted she thought sighing as she got closer to the area.
