Brought to Life

Mia joined Lucca in the front room. "I know about the two-leggers. You've said it a milliion times. Don't worry, okay? I'll stay away from the water."

"Good," Lucca agreed. "Now get all your stuff."

Mia dashed to her small room and reached under her bed for her bag. She loved to carry a purse around with her as the two-legger girls did. She had it stuffed with necessities as well as useless things.

 

Rastin tightened his grip on the sickle's handle, of his Kusari gama. His heart was racing with excitement. He always got excited before a kill. Hidden, from view, in a tree, Rastin watched his prey scurry about their meaningless lives. He was watching a group of twenty or so people. He didn't really bothered to count them. He had taken out groups bigger than this. This was nothing.

 

Grace nodded back, "Well i'm sure Mia's enjoying herself anyway." she added, lightening her own thoughts. "Now who can we asked about them?" she mused, not really asking the others as she scanned the humans walking around them.

Eric swam to the wall connecting the cells and tapped his knuckles on them. "Hey, you guys?" he called, glad the guards were down the hall way for a little while. "I think I've got the schedule down, if we work this out together we can escape."

 

"I'm not sure," Sakura thought aloud. "They all seem way too... normal to know anything." She giggled at her own words.

 

"Come on, come on!" Mia ran outside, dragging Lucca along. She knew there was a high chance that Nicholas would be there at the beach, surfing of course.

"Slow down," Lucca, on the other hand, wasn't very excited to see the two-legger. Living so close to the beach didn't help either. If they leaned out the window just far enough, they could see the surfers from there. Lucca didn't like that Mia could gawk at the human boy whenever she felt like it. He wanted to keep her as far away from that kid as possible; but at the same time, he wanted her to be happy.

 

A man carrying fire wood made his way to the camp. Rastin quickly dropped into the foliage below. He had found his first victim.

 

"maybe in one of those buildings." Grace suggested, pointing to various stores, clinics, and offices. "They seem more organized than this mass."

 

"Hey Rick! I got us some more firewoo-" The man holding the firewood stopped in mid-sentence, for at that moment, the blade, to Rastin's sickle, had impaled him through his heart.

Rastin pulled the sickle from the dying man's body. He didn't bother giving the man a second glance. Warm blood dripped from his weapon. He thirst for more blood. He wanted cut someone else. He needed to kill. These people were already dead in his mind.
Rastin hunched forward slightly, and glanced at the one called Rick. Rastin's eyes showed no emotion. They were the eyes of a killers. Eyes that struck fear into those that looked into them.
Slowly Rastin approached Rick. The man was scared. He feared for his life. That only made Rastin grin. Other men and women, weapons in hand, crowded around Rick. They were ready to defend their own. Good. Rastin expected nothing less.
One of the men knocked an arrow in his bow. Rastin stopped his advance. "Do it." Rastin said in a voice just above a whisper. "Fire your arrow."

 

"I'm scared..." Sakura moaned, crossing her arms over her chest as if to protect herself. "Who knows what they'll say or do to us?"

 

"What's the worst that could happen?" Grace tried to reassure her. "As far as anyone is concerned we're just a few kids looking for our friends. They won't do anything to us as long as we don't draw attention to ourselves."

 

"Right!" Sakura exclaimed, trying to sound confident. But humans are so scary! she thought worriedly. "But... you go first..."

 

"Do it." Rastin repeated.

Instead of firing the arrow, the man began to speak. "Who are you? What do you want?"

Rastin's eyes narrowed. pathetic. These people were pathetic. Rastin threw his sickle into the man's face. The man died instantly. Without any force to hold back the bowstring, the nocked arrow flew into the air; right over Rastin's right shoulder. Rastin pulled back on the chain with his left hand. The sickle flew back into his right hand.
"You should have fired your arrow." Rastin growled.

 

Eric nodded and went out to the bars of his own cell again, "Ame, can you work at the bars alittle so you can slip out?" he asked in a low tone, keeping his eyes out for the guards. "I've gotten mine opened alittle more by denting them in the middle, they'll bend out if you do it that way." He explained (oh it's so sad that's all i can think of as an escape) "do it quickly though. they'll be back in about half an hour."

Grace smiled at her friend. "Alright, hold on, I'll be right back." she skipped off towards a small food store down the street. She knew Sakura was nervous with all the humans, and she was as well, but she also found them funny the way there were so many. it was easy to get lost in the crowd, we'll never get caught in this mass. she thought. Slowing her steps, she walked into the store and looked around for someone that looked like a shop keeper.

 

Sakura nodded and watched Grace leave, grabbing a piece of her long blonde hair and stringing her fingers through it.

"Be careful..." she whispered aloud.

 

While Ame worked at her cell Eric counted off the minutes. "Ame, the guards will be here in a minute, stop until they're gone. I'll get myself out when after they leave and I'll help you get out too. It won't be too hard because you're smaller than me." he said in a calm voice although he was getting more wary every second.

Grace walked up to the counter and smiled at the man standing there. "Hi." she greeted him. "Have you seen-."

"Are you going to buy anything?" the man snapped before she could finish.
She frowned slightly at his rude behavior. "Well no, you see I'm looking for some friends of mine and-."

Again he cut her off. "Shouldn't you be in school? I don't help slacker children." he brushed off her words.
Grace impatently tapped her foot on the ground. "No, school's out." she answered, unaware if it was true or not. "I'm just looking for my friends have you seen a girl and boy, siblings..." she conintued to describe them in their human form but she could tell the man wasn't listening.

"I haven't seen any children like that. Now go away, I have customers."
Grace left in a huff. "What a rude man. Who does he think he's speaking to?" she said aloud as she walked back to Sakura.

 

Mia kicked off her sandles the instant she was on the sand, leaving Lucca to pick them up. She looked around the crowd of the few people who were on the beach; then, not seeing Nicholas, she looked to the waves. Sure enough, Nicholas was on his surf board, riding a wave back to shore. Mia felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to find Lucca holding out her sandles. She murmured a 'thanks' and took them, then turned her attention back to Nicholas. She heard her brother sigh, but paid no attention.

 

Eric settled down against the wall as the guards swam by, taunting them in their cells. He just ignored them, staring at the opposite wall intently.

"Look, now they're mute." one laughed, elbowing his fellow guard before they swam down the hallway to torment others.

Eric stayed put until he was sure they were gone. "Ame, 'you ready?" asked, going to the bars. "We don't have long."

 

Mia practially swooned when Nicholas hopped off his board and shook out his wet hair.

Lucca rolled his eyes. He knew that Nicholas was just doing that for the girls that were watching. Stupid two-legger.

Mia ducked her head to look at the ground. Nicholas had started up the beach -- towards her and her brother.

 

Men and Women Raised their weapons. They couls see that talking would do them no good. Rastin refused to give them a chance to attack though. faster than the untrained eye could see, Rastin advanced on the nearest person, slashing him across the neck. He then dodged a sword thrust and began strangling the attacker with with the chain of his weapon, while at the same time fending off attacks with his sickle. Here and there he got a kill in. The man he was strangling stopped moving. He was dead. Rastin release him to let him fall to the ground.

 

Sakura saw Grace and ran over to her. "What happened?" she asked quickly, wringing her hands. "How awful was it?"
