"MOSCOW (Reuters) - Britain has declared diplomatic war on Russia by expelling four envoys from London and failing to respect Moscow's constitutional ban on extradition, Russian newspapers said on Tuesday.

Commentators accused Britain of double standards for punishing Russia over its refusal to hand over the chief suspect in the murder of former agent Alexander Litvinenko in London while ignoring numerous Russian extradition requests.

"Britain and Russia have plunged into a diplomatic war of unprecedented scale," said the business daily Kommersant, one of the more independent voices in Moscow.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband announced the expulsions on Monday, saying Russia had failed to cooperate with London's investigation into the murder of Litvinenko, who died after drinking tea spiked with radioactive polonium-210.

"Over the past six years, Moscow has sent Britain 21 extradition requests, but not a single suspect has been extradited," said the government daily Rossiyskaya Gazeta."

To be honest all I can say is. Uh oh. No really not a joke thats the only thing I can possibly say.

Although not as bad as wars with bombing and such the conflict could really bring down there relationship.

Wow, that's bad. I hope this thing is settled calmly and nothing really bad happens.

I also hope that Russia doesn't start acting the same way to other countries...because that could mean trouble...

I really hope that this can settled in a way that doesn't involve a war.

Because if Great Britain declares a war on Russia, there's a good chance that the US will get involved as well.

And we know how that will turn out.

I was watching about that while I was on my lunch break, actually. Well, sorta a lunch break. I do hope though it does get setteled without charging at eachother. Russia would get pretty violent with what they did with those ten Arab soldiers after they took two of Russia's soldiers. I agree with Saix, there's a 20 out of 40 percent that the United States is going to get involved.

If the US joined, then many unhappy countrie would join Russia.... in other words World War 3.
I hope all is settled in the papers.

And to think World War Three started on 9/11 half of it did, though. But I also hope it gets setteled in the papers or its a horrible scam. If we do go into war, I don't know how this world will go on...

Yeah, but if negotiations go wrong, 2 things can happen:

1- They stop giving a damn about each other ( the good one)
2- Or they start a war ( the bad one)

But that's only if negotiations fail.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. Tension been building up for a while now & they've never really liked each other. I'm sure neither country would want to resort to war. They'll try to sort it out peacefully.

Apparantly it is all posturing on Russias part, as they havn't fully recovered after the collapse of the Soviet Union. If it does escalate I doubt we will be alive long enough to worry about it *starts work on nuclear bunker*

this is a pretty serious matter between two superpowers of the world. i dont think any type of machinery will be used just yet but can be seen as a precursor to what was said above...world war 3...even though it does seem like a possible possibility i think it will take more for the superpowers to actually declare war upon each other being the fact both countries and us are very aware of the weapons of mass destruction and with that, i would think that they wouldnt go ahead with it with all the lives at stake.

They can't start a war, but if they did we all know who America would side with, and probably the whole of Europe would side with Russia but still, Gordon Brown wouldn't start a war unless the Russians started it first and lots people will be killed with nukes, then it will turn into a World War 3, cross our fingers that the negotiations go well or atleast they don't give a damn about eachother.

well depending on how you see it, technically world war 3 hasnt started, although many people believe it has, ""president bush"" never declared war upon a country and for it be a world war it would have to involve more countries.....the war right now is on terrorism

Whaaaat? I didn't even know we had beef with Russia. This is all new to me. xD; Just turned on the Tv after seeing this thread and it's the first thing I hear, though...

Also, Britain isn't exciting enough to start a nuclear war, Bunterx. :/

I don't think the rest of Europe would want to join. It would be better if they didn't.

It's been there for years, but you never really hear about it.

Lol, your probably right there Mish XD. Although it tends to be that those who rule are least fit to do so and that poses a problem. Currently we are protected by the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) principle, wherein if one side launches nukes the other side also launches and everybody loses.

But, if America built their defence system (which Britain supports, I think correct me if I'm wrong) then Russia would be unable to fire back.
This whole deal with diplomats and extradition is just politicians letting off hot air and kicking up a fuss. Tbh I'm not that worried, although I've never had that much confidence in the world's leaders.
