alright so. I know this game, was in the beta and played it good for the first few months of it's release but now I've got a PC obviously I'd wanna play it on here so I finally was able to buy the steam version. One question though, which server do most of you guys go on? oh and also what subscription do you guys have..? I was thinking about going for the standard which allows 1 character per world rather than 8. not sure if i'll make the same character for the same server
We have a social group here for FFXIV players! Most of us play on Ultros. http://kh-vids.net/social-forums/final-fantasy-xiv.54/ I have the one that allows eight characters per server because I wanted to reserve a name on Ultros, but there's not really any reason to have more than one character (unless you want to be in multiple FCs or want to have a particular character for playing with particular people, like one character for rl friends and one for online friends). Changing your class is as simple as equipping a different weapon so there's no benefit to having, say, a separate Gladiator character and a separate Conjuror character.
I already bought the 90 day sub in advance along with the digital collectors upgrade now xD I'll probably join ultros then once ff xiv updates, I can't wait to see what they've added since last december :'D
They've actually added a fair amount. I joined when they started the Beta on the PS4, and everyone kept saying even that had changed a bit. But yeah, get on Ultros, and you really only need the simple 12.99 subscription for one character. If you managed to completely finish everything, and I do mean everything, for every class and job, then you can get a new character, but you're going to be spending more time then you can count working on just one. I have 2 level 50 jobs, and working on a Tank right now, and I still have all my crafting classes to do, plus I still have some End game stuff to work on and get my item levels up still. And I've been playing since February.
Yeah I already hit 50 on ultima but only with bard on the PS3 version but I might just do black mage this time as my first job Arcanist and something else if I remember right but yeah though right now my internet speed is absolutely terrible, Sky is such a terrible ISP. But I'm moving to Virgin media fiber optic 152mb broadband I just hope with my current internet speed I'm not lagging like hell on ff xiv Virgin are gonna install the stuff this friday i believe
I was about to say why don't you send your character info over to PS4, but I completely forgot you said you got this off Steam. Then again, if you have it on PS3, how come you bought it on the PC?
I had it on my previous PSN (soul-l-eater) and I moved from that ages ago now. Service account is down for that and I don't think I even remember my login for it plus I wanted to see how it looks on pc anyways for myself
I play on the PS4, and I, along with others in my Friend Company, agree that the targeting with a controller can get a little difficult, plus the placement of AoE effects.
I'll probably be using a controller myself anyways for the most part It's still updating...500 kbps is utter balls, I'm supposed to get 8mbps at the least, really cannot wait to get virgin installed this coming Thursday
8mbps sounds pretty good. My computer only downloads/updates anything using the internet at a max of 2mbps, usually a minimum of 900kbps.

Yeah, since the last patch and Hunts and everything there have been a lot more people on lately. Even I've been experiencing some lag at points. It might be a little while before the server allows more people on there
Yeah that happens pretty often with Ultros, it's one of the larger NA servers (biggest is Gilgamesh I think?). If you wait until the early morning you should be able to get a spot, or just check it every hour or so.
Obviously it's Gilgamesh. Speaking of which, have you gotten to Level 50 yet? You should just so you can fight Gilgamesh......or at the very least see the game's version of him.....and wonder WTF
