Latin has a connection with many European languages though there are exceptions. The Romance language family is mostly derived from Latin itself. Though compared to the languages of the world Latin may only have a small to medium-sized influence.

The only languages that have a direct link to Latin are the Romantic languages!! English and a few other languages merely borrowed from Latin and other Romance languages!!! Non-European languages have almost NO connection to Latin!!!

But I didn't say every single language had a link to Latin. My comment wasn't even meant to be taken so frickin' seriously.

 

Wouldn't that mean for example english has a link to japanese, while japanese has a link to english.
so they both have a link to the other one, kind of doesn't make sense

English is a 'sponge' language seeing as all it does is 'absorb' words from other languages and then changes them into it's own. Eg, there are over 10000 GREEK words in the ENGLISH language, but it doesn't make it a Greek language because Greek and English both have VERY different grammatical structures and Greek is a phoenetic language (each word is spelt how it sounds/almost no silent letters)

I don't even know what I'm getting at now.
