Boarding school?

Ok, heres the story, I've been invited to a school, I got a scholarship. It's performing arts, and sports, they invited me because, I have a talent for them both. It's boarding though, it's far away from my family, and they want me to go to America. It's in California, I don't know wether I should go, my family, my friends, everything. This is my future though. I REALLY want to do it. I don't know if I should though. What'cha think I should do? My twin brother got invited, I'm not sure about Kane....

 

I don't like thinking about this...and i think connor will miss us.:(

If you really hate being away from your family, then don't go. Just stay where you are. But then again, California is a really nice place since I live there =D

But I agree with you. Friends and family are the first. So it depends on how you feel about leaving who you love.

 

If I were you I wouldn't accept the invitation.

 

Well, it is a hard decision to just jump into.
You don't want to leave your family and friends but with technology you can feel like you are with them.

If you are thinking about your future...I say you go.
You can't just wait around and pass up opportunities.

If you are concerned about missing your family buy a webcam and contact them.
Call them,AIM/MSN,etc.

I think you should go.
It's for you, not them.

Even though it might be a hard decision to make, I think it is the best for you.

 

I agree with Haley completely here. It sounds like an amazing opportunity for you. You're going to have to leave home eventually, and though it's coming at a younger age for you, you're going to have to make the desicion to move away from your parents eventually. From what I can tell it seems as though your brothers are going with you, and like Haley said technology can help you keep in contact with your friends and family. You should look into arranging a trip to see the school you may be going to.

I'd also like to advise you that you should not make your decision solely on what we say here. This sounds like something you have to decide with your family.

 

I think you should go. You really shouldn't let the past hold you back when you're future's awaiting. You'll probably make new friends over there too, and that doesn't mean you'll forget the old ones.

 

If I were you I would accept.
It's a major opportunity that could be a fun experience.
DO it for yourself, not for others..

You can also talk to your family and friends through via: e-mail, phone, AIM, MSN, ect, ect.

 

Go go and meet new people in a new contry. I see no down side to this other than it's boarding school

Well, thats how everyone feels when they start in a new school. It may just be me, but I would love meeting someone from a different country. I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends who like the same things you do.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. If you go...I think you should. If you miss your family, try using Skype. You can see your family and talk to them ^_^

 

The good news is, is that apparently Americans like the English. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go, I'm just friggin' siked I got chosen!

 

It is a tough decision, but if you think it will help you advance your life and get you more later on, I'd consider doing it. The only reason I would probably not consider it is that something at home needs your assistance. You can always talk to the family and such. If you feel though you'd miss the family too much, I suppose then it's not for you and other opportunities may happen.

In my experience, usually it doesn't take that much for foreign exchange students to get along with others as people around tend to be interested in hearing about where they come from etc. As long as you are amiable and don't seem snooty and are open-minded, it could really be an experience for you to do. Also, it seems that you would have at least one other sibling there if he or she accepts it, so you would not be entirely alone.

This isn't really much of a help in the end, as none of us can make the call for you, but I'd weigh the pros and the cons. I wish you and your family luck in this. What do your parents think of the idea? That may help you decide too. I'd sit down and talk with them and your siblings over some time and figure out how you'd manage there if you did go and what you all would do to stay in touch. If it doesn't meet what you feel would make you comfortable, then maybe you should not go, but if you can arrange positive things than I'd probably do it.

I reckon I will do it! A new adventure, is always right for me! I just find it wierd, I won't see my family for ages, apart from my 2 brothers. Since we're, all in the same year, we'll have to share a room, so we'll be able to arange a time every night, when me and my brothers can talk to my parents.
