Boarding School

"Pretty good." Jake smiled, "You're finally learning that I don't sleep. I rest." He sighed, leaning against the wall. "Did you get any rest?"

 

"Yup. The second I got to my dorm, I fell asleep. Sleep actually helps a little bit...now I don't feel exhustated."

She smirked faintly. "What is it with you and the word sleep anyway?"

 

Jake frowned a little but wiped it away, replacing it with a weak smile. "I just...don't like the word." He shrugged, turning so his back was to her. "I wonder where the shadow is right now." He watched the hallway. "It's been quiet."

 

Alyce shrugged. "No clue. It's kind of nice to get a break from the shadow though. But knowing our luck, our break probably isn't going to last long."

 

Jake nodded and shrugged. "As much as I love the shadow taking over my body and hurting my friends, i'm kinda glad he's on vacation too." He laughed, winking at Alyce.

 

Alyce grinned. "While he's on vacation, he needs some work on those acting skills of his; he didn't pull off a good enough you to keep us fooled very long."

 

"Did you know it wasn't me?" Jake asked, turning to look at her again.

 

"For a minute or two, I didn't know it wasn't you. I knew there was something wrong though..." Alyce admitted sheepishly. "His act went up in flames once he sent me out in the hallway so he could talk to Jasmine."

 

Jake shook his head. "He should have took acting lessons before he tried to copy me." He grinned his half smile at her, the one he always did. "It isn't that easy to be me. I mean, you need looks, brains..." He flexed his muscle jokingly. "Strength."

 

Alyce cracked up at his pose. Finally managing to stop laughing for a minute, she smirked faintly. "I don't think there's anyone who could pull off being you but you..."

 

Jake laughed too. Bowing low. "Why thank you, my beatiful little robot. I take that as a compliment."

 

"It was intended to be a compliment, Sleeping Beauty. And when are you going to stop calling me a robot? Just because I thought your bike was cool when I first saw it..." She laughed again when she remembered his face when he'd been told that his bike was awesome by not one, but three girls.

 

Jacob shrugged, chuckling. "I'll stop calling you a robot when you stop calling me...sleeping...beauty."

 

Jasmine thought for a second.
Sure but I dont want to hurt people to get to him.

 

"Deal." Alyce grinned. "You really hate the nickname that much?"

 

"You have no idea." Jake shook his head.

"Hurt? Of course not, deary."

 

"If you hated it so much, you should have just told me."

 

Darkbness crept up Jasmines arm slowly.
She thought for a minute..
I dont want to hurt no one....but....
I...cant its wrong.

 

Jake shrugged. "Doesn't matter anyways." He remembered the day his family had died in that fire. He had fallen asleep while cooking for his little sister and the whole house went up in flames. He had been the only survivore. He had promised he would never make that mistake again.

"It's not wrong." He hissed, a black mist creaping towards her. "You could have Jacob...you could have your family...you could have your power."

 

Noticing Jake looked like he was thinking about something, she put a hand on his shoulder. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"
