Alyce smiled faintly. "Okay." For a moment, she was silent, as if hesitating about saying something. "This morning, when I woke up...I woke up way earlier than I usually do." She paused again before continuing quietly as if she could sense someone watching.

"I think someone was watching me."

 

Jake reflexivly looked up, scanning the courtyard. They were still alone though.

 

"I don't think we're being watched right now..." Alyce replied in an attempt to make Jake feel less paranoid.

 

Jake nodded, turning back to her. "Sorry...just a...a reaction...is all..." He licked his lips nervously, running a hand through his hair.

 

Alyce smiled faintly as she twirled a small piece of her hair with her finger. "I'd be worried if you weren't freaked out too."

 

Jake swallowed. "Yeah...freaked out." He looked at her carefully feeling confused as his heart sped up till it was painful in his chest. It was like nothing he'd ever felt before.

 

"Something wrong, Jake?" Alyce asked, looking him over. He looked really confused. Boys are so hard to understand sometimes...

 

"Uh..."
'Damn it!' He thought to himself, eyes glued to her face. 'Why the heck does she have to be so perfect? So intoxicating. So...'
He blinked at her, taking a small step closer without realizing it.

 

Alyce laughed lightly at the zoned out look on his face. He looks cute when he's confused.

She blinked and shook her head. Wait a second...cute? Where did that come from?

 

Jake licked his lips again, mind buzzing around crazily. He took her hands gentally, making up his mind, and kissed her lightly on the lips.

 

Alyce was silent for a moment. Did he just...kiss me?

 

Jake saw the look of shock on her face and frowned in disappointment, letting her hands go and looking down uncomfortably. "Sorry..."

 

Alyce's face shifted from surprise to a bright smile. "Hey, cheer up! Wanna know a secret?" She leaned over his shoulder and was silent for a moment to build suspense before quietly telling him, "You're a pretty good kisser, Biker Boy."

 

Jake's heart jumped into his chest. He smiled at her, face going red as he looked up to meet her eyes. He couldn't manage any real words. His tounge was tied up in a knot.

 

Alyce grinned brightly at him. "See, now you're smiling! You look cute when you do that."

 

Jake rubbed the back of his neck, wondering if she was just pulling his leg to make him feel good.
