Bloody Nightmare

Balmore Manor~

Seth watched as they drained the woman rather quickly. They must've been hungry. How pitiful. Those that had their fill took a seat and smiled happily at Seth. He motioned for the short woman with dull brown hair in a purple dress to take the dead woman away and she did so with a gruff snort. Cooke was always in a bad mood when she saw how much everyone enjoyed blood rather than normal food. She liked to cook and enjoyed watching Seth get used to eating it most nights.

Snapping his fingers, Seth stood again, lifting the chin of a younger, female vampire that had barely gotten ahold of the girl. He purred to her and wiped her face with a cloth, "Do not fret young one. I'll make sure all of you are fed tonight." Straightening, Seth waited for Yuka to haul in the latest investor in Anthony at the bank. He was bound and gagged and stumbled into the room with wide eyes. "MY friends...witness before you one who has wronged vampires this day. This man...is a recent publisher of a book enlisting us as monsters...fell creatures that should be put down like dogs! This...is an outrage to our kind...and thus...the normal vampire punishment must be carried out." Without a hint of remorse, Seth tore the ragged clothing off his back, leaving him in his underwear and set a now warm hand on his shoulder, "My friend....the fates are cruel. There is no hope...no honor remains. For us...there is always the redeeming honor of the night. For you...a star shines but only a moment longer. I pray you do not enjoy this. Suffer...the pain and torment our kind have suffered for millenia." He made a deft movement and the man's head rolled into the crowd. Kicking his body forward those that hadn't had their fill set upon him like savage dogs. Minus the cries, the sounds of teeth piercing flesh and blood being sucked from his veins could be heard clearly. Sitting again, he crossed his legs and licked at the blood on his fingers.

 

Manor~~

Anthony had not been sated from the blood of the girl. As he saw the man appear, he knew that his blood would be enough to satisfy his pallet. When he saw that the man was dead, he ran towards the body and tore off his left arm completely. Blood dripped from the stump, feeding him gracefully.

Johanna had been satisfied with the young maiden's blood. She always went for a person's legs; that way, you don't have to look them in the eye as they slowly die. She had no need to feed off of the man. Instead, she went looking throughout the crowd to find Mimi. She needed to persuade Seth when the time was right.

 

Ceril watched as the head rolled in front of her. She cringed and looked away. There was only one thing on her mind as everyone devoured the humans. we are monsters. Savages really. Murdering humans in the most animalistic way just to feed our hunger. it would make her sick to her stomach if nausai was a possibility. She walked out of the room and into the almost empty church. Ceril sat down in a pew and asked for forgiveness for being an abomination.

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth watched his guest tear apart the man and eventually had Cooke also carry out his remains. He'd have to thank her a lot later. With his guest happy and sated, he motioned for the musicians to play louder and let everyone converse or dance. He hummed to himself and thought back to Rin. Where was Cooke?

Seth's Room~

Cooke hurried into Seth's room for a change of his clothes for him. She stopped when she saw Rin. "And what do we have here? A human? Aren't you supposed to be at the party? Ah nevermind...I suppose Seth wanted to keep you, didn't he? Either way...they're done with the messy bit. Stuffs calmed down now. If you want to dance, go downstairs." She busied herself with rummaging through his clothes.

 

Seth's Room~~

Rin jumped when she saw the room doors open, but her heart sank when she saw that it wasn't Seth. Her heart made a leap a bit when she heard the music coming from the halls. She got up and quickly bowed at the girl when she was near the door. "Thank you, ma'am." She rushed over the staircase and noticed Seth in the crowd. She hurried down the stairs and broke through the crowd until she ran straight into his back, embracing him sweetly. She saw bits of blood that was on him, but she merely assumed that it was from when he fed off of her only a few minutes ago.

 

Ceril sat in the pew tapping her foot to the rythme of the music in the other room. She noticed maribelle and the little girl by the window. She resented johanna for bringing such an innocent child to a place like this, but it wasn't her place to speak. She thought about leaving, since nobody would truly notice her absense. Ceril was used to not being noticed. She didn't make herself known in town and since most of the guests here only ever saw her at the parties, she was easy to forget. she stood to rerurn to the party for jusf a little while long, admiring how ironic it was that they were in a church. Ceril wondered how god could ask for any of this to be done in his house.
She stood there listening to the music and watching people dance. She enjoyed watching, never partaking in the festivities.

 

Seth's Room~

Cooke frowned, "maybe I shouldn't have said anything after all..." She always was speak first, think later.

Balmore Manor~

Seth's blood ran cold as he felt the warmth of Rin. Though he was warmer now, he would never achieve human warmth. He wished he had another body to throw to his guests as they all stared openly at Rin. Some again hungering for the blood of a young child. Setting a hand on her shoulder, he kept her behind him and glared at his guests. "My friends...this is quite a surprise...one I'd hoped never to show you. I have my own guest that is not involved in tonight's party. I apologize for her rude appearance." Turning, he glared at Rin, "What are you doing here? I thought I told you to stay in my room." His chin dripped with fresh blood from the woman earlier and his fingers were stained red from the man's blood.

Mirabelle frowned at Ceril and sat next to her. "I know you dislike us...but it really wasn't always all their chosing. I know...if Seth didn't think he was doing the world a favor, he would've let himself starve ages ago. Ceril...you hate these gatherings...yet you come because they are important. Perhaps you'd like to do something better with your existance. Do you like children?"

 

Manor~~

"It's not my fault," Rin tried to explain. "Another maid; she told me that I was allowed to come down here, and...is that blood?!" A lot was making sense now. He fed off of her, but it appeared to her that the blood that flowed through her veins didn't satisfy him at all. She grabbed the knife that was on his person and placed it on her neck. She was ready to kill herself; she wanted to, but she couldn't. Rin wanted to run away from the party, but she was closed in by hungry vampires. Rin knew that there was only one way to go. She slit open her wrist, fresh blood flowing out. She purposely waved her arm, having some of her blood fall on Seth's body. "Come and get it, you monsters," Rin cried.

In the church, Mimi was barely able to keep herself conscious. She wasn't aware that she was dying at this point. She slowly walked over to Ceril and fell upon her lap. "Hello, I"m Mimi," she said weakly.

 

Ceril couldn't help but smile at the child. She brushed her fingers through her hair. "hello child. I'm ceril. I love children, but my home isn't fit for a child. I live in a tree, thirty feet in the air. Plus she's johanna's guest. If johanna didn't want to keep her after having her changed...well I can't even express how enraged I would become from something like that. Especially since that's what happened to me. Left to suffer on my own." she quietly hummed 'you are my sunshine' to the child. It was maddening to see such a small fragile creature, about to become like herself, or die from whatever disease was filling her body.

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth grabbed Rin's bleeding wrist and held her close to himself. "Rin!" Several vampires stood, sniffing curiously. Snarling at his guests, Seth gripped her close to him. Though they sniffed, they never moved. Seth knew they wouldn't either. His rare Pureblood blood made them sit still. "Rin, your actions are deliberately tempting my guests and friends. Do this anymore and I'll be forced to provide the proper punishment."

Mirabelle sat next to Ceril and Mimi. She pulled out a comb and started brushing Ceril's hair. "Honestly darling, you shouldn't live in a tree anymore. Seth could set you up with a nice home where you would live in peace. Soon...dear...soon we'll fix the flaws in the design and everyone can feel the sunshine without dying." She patted Mimi's head, "Seth may not choose to change her. If it is not her wish, he'll refuse. Seth isn't one to change those at will. He rather doesn't like the process."

 

Balmore Manor~~

Not wanting to be caught up in the commotion that was going on, Johanna made her way into the church. There, she saw that Mimi was with Ceril, seemingly lifeless. Johanna ran over, fearing the worst. She calmed down when she noticed that the little girl was merely sleeping, her breathing a bit shallow for her comfort. "I'm sorry if my guest has caused you any trouble," Johanna said, bowing at the two other vampires.

"Like I give a damn!" Rin cried. She was disappointed. The vampires didn't seem to be attacking her likes she had thought they would. She didn't want protection now, she wanted death. Her heart was shattered into a million pieces. Tears were flowing down her eyes. "You said you would make me happy. I agreed to whatever lifestyle you wanted me to have, without hesitation. Let me die, since you don't give a damn."

Ceril stopped humming and glanced up at johanna. "it's no bother johanna. She's just been lying here quietly." she returned her gaze to maribelle who was brushing her hair. "i don't mind living out there. If I wanted a normal lifestyle I would have done so a long time ago. Living in solitude is the punishment i've provided for myself for this lifestyle. Unlike many of the guests, I don't have any intentions of ever using master balmore. Not for money or for blood. I do have one question for him, but that is all. And it can wait. I'm in no hurry to have it answered." she continued to sit there stroking the fragile child while maribelle brushed her hair. She tried to comb through it before the party, but it did get a bit snarly from her doing it. Ceril never pampered herself, she felt she didn't deserve it.

~north woods
Annie paced through the cabin as serena put vickie down for bed. She was already wanting to leave this new home. When serena returned from the back, annie exploded. "this place isn't safe. The town is crawling with vampires and hunters. The last thing we need is more vampire hunters. They should change their name because they don't stop at vampires. There will be a full moon in three days and vickie still hasn't changed. This is too dangerous for her first time. Something must be done." serena sat quietly while her sister ranted. She knew this was dangerous, but the encounter at the marketplace wasn't as extreme as annie was making it.

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth shook his head and scooped her up. Dragging her up the stairs he kicked open his door and flung her on the bed. "That's it! Rin...you've no idea about Vampire politics." Rummaging through this drawers, Seth pulled out a thin needle. Licking the wound, he kept a firm grip on Rin's arm he licked his first finger and thumb and popped the buttons on Rin's dress. Pulling out the string holding the buttons on and threaded the needle. Stitching her wrist closed, Seth growled the whole time. "You really should be more careful. Calling a group of Vampires monsters...I'm going to have a dozen and more complaints by the end of the week..."

Mirabelle set down the comb and smoothed her dress, "Everything should be done now... I'll go get Seth and tell him you have a favor to ask."

 

Balmore Manor~~

"Thank you Mirabelle," Johanna said in a hushed tone. She sat down next to Ceril, looking at young Mimi. Johanna could clearly tell that Mimi was now deeply into some kind of a dream. Her smile was very cat-like. "When she was brought into our hospital earlier this week, she was abandoned by her parents. They didn't even fill in her last name, so they couldn't be identified. We could tell, even then that this little girl was at her last lags. I doubt she'll make it within the next few hours. They said that she would only talk to me, the nurse that took so care of her during the night hours. Listen, I don't care what you think of me for wanting to change her. The cards she was dealt...they were never in her favor. At least now, she can go on with life without having to worry about death ever again."


Rin was crying. "If you're so worried about that, then you should have just let them kill me!" Rin was screaming when she felt the needle pierce in and out of her body. She couldn't understand why; whenever Seth took her blood, it barely even made her flinch. How come this was so different. "Why didn't you let me die?! You said so yourself: I'm nothing special. Why are you doing this?!"

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth finished stitching her wrist and wiped the tears from her cheeks. "They wouldn't even if they tried. They know what you look like RIn...you're...important to me because you remind me of someone I knew a long time ago. The only person I ever fell in love with...I can't even remember her name." His dark brown eyes took on ages of saddness, "Did you know...vampire children are born already dead? Without decent attention and accuteness to them...they'd die on the spot. They require something only their mother can provide...the internal blood of her heart. Vampires usually don't fall in love...because if their desire to have a child...they sacrifice their mate." Seth leaned over her, "It's too hard to fall in love again. But I won't sacrifice someone that says they love me without knowing me. I promised I'd protect you because you knew my secret."

Mirabelle knocked softly on Seth's door and listened to him get up from his bed and open the door. "Lady Johanna has a favor to ask of you along with Ceril." He nodded once and shut the door on her.

Turning back to Rin, Seth held out his hand to her, "I want to keep you safe because...you remind me of something I lost so very long ago. Something precious to me. My humanity. I've been like this since I was born, Rin, Vampires look to me for moral support and direction. I provide examples. Without the example I set tonight at the party, they would no longer respect me. My blood alone is not enough to make them see that we can coexist with humans. In order to maintain this balance, I provide them with food every Sunday night. The man they fed on...was a hater of Vampire kind. He slandered our good names. The woman...that I fed from was necessary. Without her blood, what would stop me from draining you dry?" Slowly, he approached her and touched now warm cheeks and lips to her neck, "Your blood is the sweetest I've had in such a long time. It's difficult to keep you alive like this. I fear the day I nearly kill you in a feeding frenzy. I will continue to feed on other humans, be they man woman or child. But yours will always be something I treasure."

 

Ceril sighed and stopped petting the child. She spoke to johanna while rubbing her temples. "i don't hate you johanna. I don't hate anyone. There is not enoufh room in the world for hate. This child may have been dealt a poor hand, but that's life. We live in a cruel world. It's just fate. I was hit by a car. I would have died. This little girl was meant to die. Don't you understand what kind of torture you would be bringing this child? Condemned to be a little girl for all eternity? She never gets to have love, or god forbid sex. I do miss it. Solitude doesn't provide that sort of company. But back to the point, do what you want, but before you try and make her like us, thimk about it a little harder. You can't be so rash with these decisions." she wanted to leave, but didn't feel right disturbing the child. She was sleeping so innocently. It was a shame to no it wouldn't last much longer.

 

Balmore Manor~~

"And I lost my husband as soon as I got here," Johanna cried, making sure her voice was soft enough to allow Mimi to stay asleep. "Yes, this kind of life isn't fair, but I do not detest it. It has allowed me to live much longer and to help more people than I could have ever done as a human. Yes, she won't be able to feel those humanly pleasures, but she isn't going to live long enough to feel them anyway. At least, as a vampire, she can witness the beauty of this world until the end of its existence."


Rin was shaking. All of the information was coming in waves. She remembered that she had to stay objective; for all she knew, Seth could have been lying about everything to simply keep her calm. Rin knew that she was acting selfishly, but she refused to admit it to herself. She didn't want to share Seth with anyone, but if what he was saying ended up to be true, then he wouldn't be able to live without other peoples help. Her head and her heart ached. "The way you take their blood, and the way you take mine; is there a difference? Do you feel anything different when you take my blood? Please, don't lie to me."

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth examined his clothes, "Does it look like I could care about what they feel when I feed from them? What I feel...will always be different from what I feel for you. I will never lie to you Rin, that I promise. I care for your safety and peace of mind. If I hurt you, I would never forgive myself. Those that have wronged you, have wronged me. Your pain is mine." Spying a droplet of blood on her cheek, he licked it off and gently pressed his lips to hers. "With the aid of everyone around me, I will make Luin a home for Vampires and humans alike."

 

Balmore Manor~~

Rin kissed him back roughly. She did her best to ignore the taste of blood from the other two humans he had said they feasted on. She could feel that he was telling her the truth, or at least giving off that kind of positive energy. Rin didn't wish to distrust Seth. She was alive now, and they would always fight about her mortality. Right now, that didn't matter to her. All she wanted to do was kiss him. She licked his tongue with hers before pulling back. "I'm here for you too, y'know. I love you, whether those sentiments are returned or not don't matter to me. I promise that my feelings will never change."

 

Balmore Manor~

Seth smiled, his good humor returned. "Then will you stay here for a while? I have just a bit more to take care of downstairs. I'll be back soon. You should catch up on your sleep. It's been a long night." He peeled off his jacket again and flung it over the end of the bed. Unbuttoning the top two and bottom two buttons on his shirt, he made no move to hurry downstairs. Instead he stood at the door, admiring Rin. Her determination was enough to make him smile but her words were far too grown up for her own good. He'd have to teach her what it meant to be a grown up.

Mirabelle, Yuka and Cooke came to fetch Johanna, Mimi and Ceril. "Master Seth will be down in a minute. You three should come inside. Everyone has started to leave." As soon as she spoke, several vampire couples walked past her, arm in arm, thanking her for the time they spent and asking if Seth would visit soon.
