Nick watched carefully as Annie dug out a few more of the remaining silver bullets lodged in his legs. His bright blue eyes closed for a moment and opened again as a silver bullet popped out of his chest into his hand. Jerking, Nick dropped it onto the floor of the car and exhaled fully for once. "You girls live out here now...I suppose you're familiar with the territory by now...correct? Have you seen little Seth lately? Is he well?" He didn't want to bring up Seth, but his promise dictated he at least know he was well.

Balmore Manor - Basement

Yuka glanced at the papers Ceril set aside and chuckled, "That was the year Seth first started filling out his taxes. Don't worry about the money. He only would've splurged on something he didn't need. I say it's good to be relieved of all that money. He makes enough as it is. The more current ones should be correct though...even though the amounts are drastic." Yuka tucked the papers in a three ring binder and set them inside a box for storage. Rifling through a few papers, Yuka uncovered an old picture of Seth and a woman with black hair in a blue dress. Yuka bent and carried the box away from the desk, shoving it into a large closet along with the others.

 

Balmore Manor Dining Room~~

Rin followed Seth into the dining room, feeling as if she was being guided. She didn't bother arguing about the kind of sandwich that she wanted; it didn't seem like something that was worth bringing up. "Thank you," She told Cooke, hoping that it would calm her down. She took small bites out of the sandwich, not really caring what was in it.

 

Balmore Manor - Dining hall

Seth sat next to Rin, his eyes closed as he sat perfectly still. "Is something the matter, Rin? You've been awfully quiet recently. Usually, you're very talkative. Don't tell me I have to sleep with you every night just to get you to speak?" he chuckled and cracked one eye open, glancing at Rin from the corner of his eye.

 

Balmore Manor Dining Room~~

Rin blushed when she heard what Seth said to her. She wished that she would have at least whispered it to her. Rin found it very odd how he would just say something like that with the other vampires in the room. Of course, she also did get a complaint about the noise from those same vampires. "Well, it wouldn't hurt, would it," Rin said, trying to sound perverted. She let out a nervous laugh before she fell back into Seth's chest. "I'm just worried...I don't want anything to happen to you."

Serena spoke from the front seat, noticing annie's anger starting to flare up through the mirror. "we only moved out here yesterday afternoon. We don't know the entire town but annie managed to find their den last night. We had seen the pureblood at the bank and he seemed all right, but if that psycho vamp from the gas station got to him he might not be anymore." annie's hands were shaking, she had become so angry thinking about valentine. How he tried attacking them in the middle of town, with humans watching. Serena didn't even seem bothered by it, which was the sick part. Annie watched the pureblood sink his hand into the roof of her car as he leered down at vickie and serena seemed just fine. She had a strange fascination with vampires.

Ceril caught a glimpse of thehoto before yuka hauled it away to the closet. "was that her?" she managed to get her dress snagged and watched as the bottom ripped when she pulled away. "damn. I really liked this one." she tore the ripped piece off and stared at the jagged hole in her dress.

 

Luin - North Woods

Nicholas watched Annie, "So...Valentine is already here...at least I'm assuming by psycho vamp you mean him... There are plenty like him in the world. If he's already met with Seth once, there will be some riled tempers tonight. I've only met Seth once." He didn't want to revisit that memory and sat straighter in the seat. "I don't mean to be a bother, but...are we nearly there yet? I've got a serious problem of silver bullets lodged in places I'd rather not expose young females to."

Balmore Manor - Dining hall

Seth stroked the back of her head and purred, "It's alright Rin. I'm perfectly fine. I'd rather you just forget about seeing Valentine today, but...as I see that won't happen, I'm just going to have to occupy your mind."

Balmore Manor - Basement

Yuka fiddled with the photo and twitched, much like a nervous vampire would. "Well..yes..it is...but...Ms. Lirum left us so long ago... She wanted to go to New York...and become a journalist. She made Seth so very happy...I haven't seen him smile like he used to. Not even with that young human girl he has now."

 

Balmore Manor Dining Room~~

Rin laughed nervously. She really liked the tone that Seth was heading, but she doubt they were thinking the same thing. Rin figured he was talking about keeping her busy by making sure she went to school. Taking another bite of her sandwich, she flashed a smile just to make him happy. "It'd be interesting to know what you have in mind with keeping me busy," Rin commented.

Serena pulled into the driveway and parked. "we're here." she hurried on ahead to check on vickie, leaving annie alone in the car with nicholas. Annie got out of the car and waited. "do you need help?" she felt strange. Annie never cared about anyone else's well-being if they weren't family. But for some reason she did righr now.

Ceril continued working as she listened to yuka. "i see. And when he goes out to find her tonight...then what? He brings her back here again?"

 

Balmore Manor - Dining hall

Seth placed a single razor blade on the table in front of her. "Ideas flit through my mind like butterfly lives. Brief, instant....short, simple."

Balmore Manor - Basement

Yuka shrugged, "Probably not. She's probably tired of vampires by now. The girl really hates us now. She wouldn't come back even if Valentine bit her..."

North Woods - Cabin

Nick slid out of the car and stumbled onto the grass. Pulling himself up, a yellow ring formed around the iris in his eyes. Blinking, Nicholas rid himself of the yellow ring and tugged the blanket tightly around his waist. "No, I don't need any help. Now...point me in the direction of your bathroom, hand me a knife and I'll be out of your hair in two days tops."

Rin let out another nervous laugh. She wasn't quite at that place where she could figure out if Seth was serious or just joking around with her. Pretending to ignore his comment, she continued to bite down on her sandwich. Feeling a bit less nervous, she was finally able to actually taste the sandwich, which pleased her taste buds.

Balmore Manor Foyer~~

Mimi had gotten bored quickly from waiting inside of her room. She was exploring the castle by running around the bottom floor of the castle. She remembered Johanna's warning about not opening any windows and simply went to all the darkly lit rooms. She then made her way to the dining room, where she found her Sire. A feeling of admiration flowed through her body when she saw him. it wasn't fear, but something that was much lighter.

"When do we get to go play," Mimi asked him.

 

Balmore Manor - Dining room

Seth turned in his seat to look at Mimi, "When the sun sets, Mimi. Wouldn't want you getting scorched out there. Say...Mimi..." Seth glanced at Rin and back to Mimi, "How would you like....to have something no one else is allowed to have." He beckoned her forwards with his finger and sat her on his lap. "We could make an arrangement...just a few schoolgirls from a neighboring town...?" A slow smile spread across his lips as he watched Rin as if he needed her permission to have anyone at his home and feed from.

Rin tried to pretend that she wasn't listening in on their private conversation. When she heard about the school girls, she began to clench her teeth. She knew that Seth had to feed off of someone, especially since the little accident that he had earlier today. Rin knew that he was just trying to see how far that he could push her. Even with that in mind, she was getting steamed. "Whatever you're planning, just don't do anything stupid," She muttered to Seth, taking a huge bite out of the sandwich, almost forcing half of the thing into her mouth.

 

Balmore Manor - Dining hall

Seth pinched Mimi's stomach. "Look how skinny she is, Rin. She needs to eat. And since the only one that makes their own blood around here is you...and I doubt you'd let both me and my young friend feed from you. Whatever shall we do, right Mimi-kun?" Seth touched his nose to Mimi's and smiled. "Do you want some preppy schoolgirls to come and adore you and feed you? Or Miss Unhappy over there."

 

Balmore Manor Dining Room~~

Rin groaned loudly and Seth's words. "Fine! You guys can feed off of me. Can I at least finish my dinner first."

Mimi let out a cheer when she heard Rin's words.

 

Balmore Manor - Dining Hall

Seth waited patiently for Rin to finish. He half closed his eyes and watched her eat. "The last time I closed my eyes watching a human eat...I opened my eyes and she was a skeleton. Seventy-three years passed without me knowing it. Funny, isn't it? How time flies when you're content." Since Seth was already sitting close to Rin, he set a hand on her knee and bounced Mimi on his leg. "I'm very happy I have new company with me. I've grown very tired of Yuka's chatter and Mirabelle's complaints."

Rin gulped down the last little bit of her sandwich. She was a bit frightened by what he was talking about in the beginning, but she was more calm at the end of it. Both Rin and Mimi hugged Seth in very different ways. Mimi hugged him like a child would her father while Rin hugged him in a very sweet way. "They can't be that bad," Rin said, kissing his cheek.

Seth chuckled and pulled Rin into his lap too. He nuzzled her throat and snatched the razor blade from the table. "Mimi...I promised no one else would bite her besides me. We feed from cuts. We don't sink our fangs into humans. It reveals who we are." He drew a line on her throat, where he always did and one on her wrist for Mimi. Letting the small child feed from his Rin's throat seemed a bit immoral. Latching onto Rin's cut, Seth nestled her in his lap so she could sit comfortably with his arm around her waist, holding her still.

 

Balmore Manor Dining Room~~

Mimi lapped up the blood from Rin's wrist. While the blood tasted good, it wasn't something that tasted special to her. Still, it was something that was giving her life, so she continued lapping up her meal.

Rin's cuts were burning for only two seconds. It felt very weird for her to have Mimi drinking from her arm. She smiled when she felt Seth on her neck. Smiling, she wrapped her free arm around him.

 

Balmore Manor - Dining hall

Seth unconsciously curled himself around Rin. LIke a delicate flower amidst a barren cage with a single lion, he treaded carefully as to not damage her beauty and innocence. Eventually even the lion would become so hungry he would devour the flower...but that day wasn't today.

"when you walk inside, it's the first door on the right. Serena can grab you a knife from the kitchen." she stepped out of his way and walked down the path. She kicked hard at a rock. This whole town was a joke and it was making her more mad then she had been in quite awhile.
Serena stood in the kitchen making dinner. She had chicken frying in the pan for everyone else and a salad made up fresh for herself.

Ceril set down a pile of papers and looked over at yuka. "that's a lot of hate...but I guess I can understand. This isn't a life i'd choose." she stood there staring down at the pile and let out a sigh. This was a life that was never going to end.
