I don't know what's going on, but for some reason whenever I play a certain trailer of Versus XIII on WLMM, it only gives me a black screen for it. The other trailers seem fine, but this one, no matter where I get it from, always gets a black screen. Does anyone know what's going on?
Are you sure about that? They may be in the same container format (AVI, MP4, MKV), but the actual video/audio formats/codecs can vary. Also, I found this list of WLMM supported formats.
yeah, I looked up what WLMM could support right after it stopped working, and I don't know what's up. I mean, for some reason the FF VIII clips from BlueLaguna are useless, so I'm having to get them elsewhere, but every other clips is fine. And I mean, it played on everything else, it's just that one clip that shows up black on the screen. I don't get why it's only that one trailer. This is the video I'm talking about, just in case it helps I'm just not understanding why the other FF Versus XIII video I have works, but not that one While I'm talking about the trailer, is there any way to get rid of that Cloud at the top corner of the screen? It kinda gets in the way, but every trailer I find has that mark
Well, I think what Crisp means is that while the format may be supported, i.e. .avi, the codec may not. This can sometimes be remedied by downloading and installing a few codecs. As for the text in the top corner, the only way you can get rid of it would be to crop the top off, really.
well, guess I'm dealing with the word, but I don't know what a codec is(I really need a way to learn this stuff). So what is a codec, and how can I tell what my videos are?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codec Installing codecs will let your computer be able to decode and play more media formats. If the video that won't work in WLMM already plays fine in your system's media player, it might be a problem dealing with WLMM itself instead of a missing decoder. If you want to be able to tell what format your video is in a couple of programs that I use often include MPlayer and MediaInfo. I believe MediaInfo is included with CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). Have you tried downloading the Versus XIII trailer from gametrailers.com? There's no watermark and there's an option for either WMV or MOV (Sorenson Video v3) formats, I recommend WMV for compatibility. Try this first, it might save you some trouble. http://www.bugmenot.com/view/gametrailers.com Here are some logins to let you download.
