    Awww yeeeeah

I've gotten so tired of the negativity towards the film. So many people going out of their way to say "it's overated" and "it sucks." Like, fuck off, it's a good movie that just got really popular.

Surprisingly, people don't get that. Like, everything that gets good reception can be seen as "overrated."

Some people are just cynical for the hell of it it'd seem.

"Oh, you're enjoying something that isn't perfect, or it isn't something I'm nostalgic about? WTF U DOIN WATCH LION KING MOAR"

Well, it's really easy for things to seem overrated when people can respond publicly to every little thing. This goes the other way also, it's probably more that people are seeing more of a negative response from a certain group and that's coloring your view of the whole backlash. So some people are seeing it as overrated because people can publicly like something and some people are seeing the response as massively violent and cynical because other people can publicly dislike it. In the end neither side is actually as extreme as it may seem at times.

That said, I don't actually think it applies quite like that with something like Frozen. Frozen was a phenomenon, not quite SnK levels of intensity, but still pretty huge and across a larger more vocal demographic in the West especially. So vocal in fact that you can probably find pushing a thousand Frozen parody/cover videos on youtube and many more posts and threads about it on social media, image boards and forums across the net. Not to mention the fanart. So, for a very long while it was pretty hard to get away from Frozen, it was one of those things that you'd almost have to live in a cave to not catch a glimpse of. That gets really, really tiring. So I think it's more than understandable that people want it to go away and not be in their everything for a while. People always try to say that it's possible to avoid things, but like I said I never searched the term Frozen anywhere and I never use tumblr or /co/ or any of the places where it was most prevalent, I still ended up seeing bits and pieces of it and hearing people talk about it as I passed by other people either in groups or on their computers or scrolled through Nate's posts about it here or even just got asked about it in real life by people I knew. Suffice it to say, no there was actually no avoiding it, it's simple as that, you can't argue that so don't. So the response was needlessly high for a movie, any movie. Is it really wrong for someone to be irritated by that?

Okay, so maybe it's wrong to take it out against the movie itself, we all agree it's not like it's the spawn of Satan, right? But who are you going to take it out on, or are you going to be expected to just sit there and grit your teeth because ignoring it is basically out of the question. I think it's healthy for people to just get their feelings out on these things because their opinion is every bit as valid if not moreso than people who are treating this film like the second coming.

Long and short: Be mindful of the feelings of others.

I confess I only saw Frozen very recently with my Niece. Sure it's a cute movie and I liked how it wasn't like your typical 'true love' plot. But I really didn't see what all the fuss was about.

If anything all I really saw was a young woman(Elsa) dealing with anxiety and pushing everyone away the entire movie because she's terrified she'll hurt those she cares about. And it kind of depressed me.

I mean, I totally get all that, and I'm experiencing it myself with the League of Legends subreddit recently becoming nothing but eSports and Twitter news (which I don't give a flying fuck about.)

I think for me the case of Frozen annoys me most of all because I genuinely enjoy the film and want more people to experience for the first time without prejudice...but that is quickly becoming more and more impossible with the internet and social networks letting anyone with a strong opinion (positive or negative) share. It also stems from my dislike of the idea that songs get overplayed; I've tried to stick to the belief that a song can't be overplayed if it's that good, but maybe I'm wrong? I dunno.

    who decides if its good
and who decides when its overplayed

for me, hearing anything by katy perry more than once every few months is overplayed because i dont like her music
and im sure some of her fans feel the same way about music i listen to

i could point them to reasons why i think my music is good therefore overplaying isnt possible, but im sure they could do the same thing for her music

and then theres the matter of something being good but just getting tired of it from hearing it so much

music is probably the most subjective form of entertainment. standards like that dont really work

Try to convince someone that eSports refers to sports with 'e' in the name.

But that's just the modern world you're disliking. There is no way around it because people are only doing what comes naturally and other people are capitalizing on it. As far as overplaying, some people get bored of monotony and want more variation than others, that's about it, I think.

Which is why I put my indecisive "I dunno" statement. I don't bother putting that much more thought when it comes to overplayed songs because everytime I had in the past I never really reached a satisfying conclusion. It just turns into me thinking "Eh, whatever, I don't care enough."

Yeah, I know it's just how people do these days. Eh, it's no big deal really. I just end up ignoring their behavior because it's not really harming anyone, and they're enjoying it, I guess.
