First off I must say this is the most disappointing ending(s) ever.

So those of us that played the game know that Atlas was really lying to us and manipulating us the whole time to kill Andrew Ryan for him so he can gain control of Rapture. I understand that much. However, what I do not understand is what was the deal with Atlas's family? He claims it was an act. If so, why did the very omnipotent Andrew Ryan go along with it? Obviously he would know if he took prisoners or not, why would he blow up the empty sub to help Atlas manipulate the main character? Did he really capture people who pretended to be Atlas's family? Did he buy into the act of Atlas? Explain please?

In my opinion I think it's because Andrew Ryan just didn't care about living anymore. He did tell you when you met him to kill him and made no attempt to stop you even though he could.

**** now I'm tempted to go buy the ps3 version. Damn you Zack.

..If you haven't played it how would you know about Ryan?

Also, yes buy it. Even though the ending is disappointing, the game itself is fantastic. It's addictive and I am honestly a huge fan of the plot despite the fact if you think about it too much or have any bit of it spoiled for you it starts to make no sense.

I play 360 games at my friends house. I went over the day it came out and we beat it there. That's also how I played Gears, Halo, and Saints Row :D

Now that it's on the ps3 I might just get it. That game screams replay value.

Ahh did not know you played Bioshock also at his house. Now since I know I can prperly discuss it with you, I do not think Ryan wanted to die. In fact, I think he just wanted Fontaine to die and his city to live on with his name at all costs. The man was omniscient. He knew well once he was out of the way Atlas would betray the main character and he'd be as good as dead. However, things like not killing Atlas when he had the chance and playing along with the family thing still confuses me.

Andrew Ryan didn't know that Atlas was Fontaine, Fontaine was believed to have been killed months prior when he faked his own death. He believed Atlas to just be another person starting an uprising, and yes, I suppose Fontaine had a fake family put in place to manipulate Andrew Ryan as much as he was manipulating the main character.

I think that he did i because he wanted to die, in the part where you kill Ryan, he makes you kill him and for you to learn the truth about our so called "Friend"... i don't know what other reason there is....but i think that is good enough...

This, I think. Been about half a year since I beat the game though.
