James' headache was beginning to worsen, probably from trekking all the way over to the now-crumbled mall-building. Not only that, but the debris and smoke surely wasn't helping. "I gotta get the hell out of here!" He thought as he turned around and ran back towards his "home". He had to stop and rest by a fallen tree. His head was throbbing and he was coughing like crazy. "Dammit! Why then? Why the HELL did it have to happen then!?" He said to himself, coughing some more afterwards. Off in the distance, he heard footsteps and the ruffling of metal. It sounded like someone from the military. "What do they want now?" He thought. He could hear the footsteps coming toward him. He slowly took the M16 from his back, and changed the firing mode from "Safe" to "Semi". Then he shot up, aiming his weapon toward the sounds. "Freeze!" He yelled. Just then, he noticed that the face he was aiming at (Or at least the part that wasn't covered up) looked familiar. "...Victor? Vic, is that you?" He asked, lowering his gun a bit.

    ~~

Victor exited the Safehaven dome and headed toward the source of the distress flare. As he stepped further away from the dome, he felt the ground shake and a small wave of dirty air blow past him. He activated his communicator, "Sir, did you feel that?" He asked. "*Affirmative, Mason. It probably has something to do with that flare. Get over there ASAP.*" His commanding officer replied. "Yes, Sir." He deactivated his com-unit and continued on. He could hear yelling and gunfire off in the distance. "What the hell is going on out there?" He said to himself, still moving. He came across a fallen tree. As he drew closer to the sounds, which had gotten quieter, he could have sworn that he had heard a voice on the other side of the dead tree. He slowly stepped closer to it, his weapon readied. Then, A person shot up from behind the tree, commanding him to freeze. Victor kept his weapon raised. Then, the person lowered his weapon. "Victor? Vic, is that you?" The person said. "How do you know my name?" Victor replied. The man stepped closer to him, but not close enough to touch. "It's me, James! James Vincent!" The man replied. Victor lowered his weapon. "Lieutenant Vince? You're alive?" He asked.

    OOC: Will continue later.

Mya narrowed her eyes. She didn't like this man at all. She assumed having him on her side, he could be a backstabber. She still didn't lower her gun. What's makes you think we can trust you? How do we know you aren't gonna stab us in the back?

Krill shot a look of disgust at Mya. "Hmph, before you go picking on me, why don't you ask that same question to these random strangers that surround you!" He gestured to the others with the box like object he had picked up. "And don't treat me like dirt you ungrateful little brat, I helped save your life!"

    OOC: You stole my idea!!

BIC: Danni glared at Krill, deeply regretting what she'd said before, "I've changed my mind, I say we kill him" She was hating him more by the second, she'd already defended him twice today and he'd reacted by sneering at her. He was calling that girl 'an ungrateful little brat', he needed a reality check. Although she realised he did have a point, she was in almost the same situation as him not so long ago except he'd walked away. That was why she'd defended him before but now, he'd thrown it all in her face. She could understand why they were quizzing him and not everyone else, because he was being mean, snide and really wasn't helping anything. She understood why he'd gone all like this but he really wasn't helping himself and she could not blame the girl, with the way he was acting, she had full right. And looking at the poor girl that had just arrived, she could guarentee one thing - she wasn't letting him lay a finger on her.

Jayne stopped pointing her gun at the guy, but she still didn't let her guard down. She didn't like the looks of this guy, but though he might be rude, she still didn't feel like he was a threat, at least for now. As for everyone else, the guy had a point. How did she know she hadn't rushed over to save some kind of psycho, or what everybody else was doing here? Suddenly suspicious of everyone here, she held her gun a little tighter, and discreetly glanced around her, memorizing exactly where everyone was standing and the fastest way out of the situation. Suddenly, she started to cough. They couldn't stay here for much longer, the smoke was penetrating her black scarf and her surgical mask. How could everybody else stand here and still breathe?

Mya noticed Jane coughing and decided they should move before the situation gets worse. She lowered her gun. She had lots of experience breathing in smoke, but not for long periods of time. Save me or not, your attitude is full of sh*t. I don't want it. We will leave you alone for now. If you follow me to our place, I will shoot you. She motioned the others to follow her, handing Jayne a breathing mask from one of the dead raiders.

"Thanks,"Jayne said, taking the breathing mask. She looked down at it. Who knows how many infected people have already used this thing? she thought. I don't have time to clean it here. I'll just have to make do. Holding it up to her mouth, she tried to breathe through her scarf and mask. It might take longer, but it was worth it.

Krill just smiled, not wavering for a second at the insult. "Before you go, you may need this." He threw the box like object on the floor next to Mya, and then vanished into the darkness once again.

Kanonno sighed heavily with relief as Krill disappeared, feeling safer now that she knew he was no longer allowed to come near the group. "I-I'm sorry...I think I may have annoyed him by trying to attack him..." Getting slightly nervous, she played with her fringe, curling it around and around. That guy..who was he? She racked her brain, trying to force it to remember something other than what she already knew, but she came up empty, as usual. "Hey...is it alright if I come with you?" She asked shyly, examining the box that Krill had thrown at them, trying to make out what it said on the cover through the smoke.

Mya smiled and nodded at Kanonno. You're free to follow us. Now let's go before someone smothers in this smoke. She didn't like the box he threw on the ground, but she took it anyways, curious about it.

Xavier kept his eyes locked on the direction the man had disappeared into, but lowered his gun and put it back in the inside pocket of his jacket.
"I don't like that guy." he said quietly. "He gives me a bad feeling. If I ever see him again I swear-"
Before he could finish his sentence Xavier broke out into a fit of coughs. The smoke was beginning to surround him, filling his lungs and burning his eyes.
"What the hell are we waiting for? Let's get out of here!" he snapped at the girl who claimed she knew of a secret place to take them. "Lead the way."

Mya sighed and lit up a flare. Alright guys. Follow me. don't get lost. I'm not going back for anyone. She walked towards the east, holding up her flare so people can see it through the smoke.

Kanonno smiled and eagerly ran after Mya, not wanting to get left behind especially with Krill roaming around. "So...are you sure this place is going to be completely and utterly safe?" She looked around nervously as if she were expecting something bad to happen, but of course she was just overreacting after that encounter with Krill. Who...is that guy..? She flicked her pink hair back and sighed in dismay as her memory failed her yet again.

James kept his distance from the soldier, as he didn't want to infect him. "Damn right I'm still alive. I see you're still working with the *******s we used to call a military, eh?" James said, turning away from his old friend. "You know, you're one of the most respected soldiers in the military right now. You could do something to change this!"

    ~~

Victor was angered by James' comment about the military. "If we were the *******s you make us out to be, would we have fought for your freedom back then?"

    ~~

James turned back to his friend. "You became *******s as soon you decided that those pr*cks you call leaders were more important than the people they were leading! Ever since then, it's been MY duty to make sure my parents' deaths weren't in vain!" James yelled, holding back the urge to unload on the soldier before him. "...Even if it comes down to killing every last one of you."

    ~~

Victor held back his anger. Apparently something happened to his friend after he was discharged. "What's happened to you, Vince? You were the most cool-headed guy I knew back when you were in the service." Victor asked.

    ~~

"What happened? What Happened!? I'll tell you what the f*ck happened! First, me and my family get the Hand of G**damn Death disease, and then when my parents try to do what's right and HELP me, you sons of *****es kill my only two parents right in front of me! THAT'S what happened!"
James was filled with all sorts of rage. He could barely contain it.

    ~~

"I-I'm sorry, James. I didn't know.." Vincent was cut off by James.

    ~~

"No, I don't want to hear it. Just get out of my sight. And stay out of it." James said, turning and walking back toward the site of the flare. The smoke should have cleared some by now.

    ~~

Victor didn't bother completing the mission. The flare was in the same direction as James, and who knows what he would end up doing if James had seen him again. He activated his comm unit. "Sir, I couldn't get to the source of the flare, there were...A bunch of infected there."
"*No problem. Head back to Safehaven and resume your duties.*"
    "Yes, Sir."

Xavier looked around at the group he found himself traveling with.
Circus freaks... he thought. I'm stuck with a bunch of circus freaks.
However, even if he had no trust for any of them, he knew they were his only hope at the moment. Who knows? Maybe they'll be useful.
Xavier decided to make conversation with these strangers, to lighten the mood perhaps.
"My name's Xavier by the way." he announced to the group while they walked. "It's a..uh..pleasure meeting you all. So where are we headed anyway?"

" I assume were heading towards someplace safe. Name's Ren by the way." He said aswering his question. When it came to the slums, not many places are safe. Hopefully this place would provide some sort of protection.

"Someplace safer than this at any rate" Danni added, looking round. This was her first taste of the slums and she wasn't too keen on them, she was struggling to understand why so many people left the villiges to come here. They may be low on supplies but she found it hard to believe here was much better. She turned her attention back to the group she'd found herself part of, listening to their names in an attempt to remember them and examining each of them in turn. They were definiatly a mismatched group but hopefully that might turn out to be a good thing with each of them bringing something different to the team. In a place like this she reckoned it was much better to be in a group than a little girl out on her own, even if that little girl is more than they bargain on. She didn't know if she could trust her and she'd have to earn their trust too but that was a risk she was going to have to take. "Name's Danni by the way" She said with a grin, she figured she should introduce herself since everyone else was.

Mya continued leading them to a more wrecked area of the slums. I'm Mya. Nice meeting you all. We're headed to a secret shelter I made. I welcome everyone that needs help even if they plan to steal my stuff. I wasn't planning to live long anyways. She sighed. It was true. Since last week, her symptoms got worse. She guessed she was a Stage 5. Didn't matter. Everyone was gonna die anyways if the virus didn't kill them first. She walked up to a brick wall. When she pushed in a specific brick, the wall opened up to a tunnel. Well keep walking down and you'll eventually hit a room.

    OOC: Everyone has disappeared ;~;

BIC: Kanonno turned and smiled at Rhian as she introduced herself. "Pleased to meet you." She nodded cheerfully, slowing down so she could walk beside her. "So...you new around these parts? I haven't seen you before..." She glanced forward at Mya as she opened up a passage way. "A room? Any details we should no about it? Any death traps lying hidden in the walls or floor?" She meant that last part as a joke but shivered at the thought anyway, I mean, how was she to know this girl was leading them to safety? For all she knew she could be leading them to their untimely deaths.

Danni raised an eyebrow in suprise as Mya revealed the secret tunnel, she'd never come across anything like this before. "Impressive" She muttered under her breath. Was all of the slums full of wierd things and secrets, her mind moved on to consider. She made a mental note to remember everything was not always what it first appeared. If Mya was being truthful and this wasn't some trap, they would certainly be quite safe. Those raiders would never find them in there. Still for now she had to trust that it was safe, there wasn't much choice if she planned to stick with this new group. She turned to look at the pink-haired girl who had spoken, who appeared so out of place in this harsh enviroment. It was so hard to come by innocence these days and when you did it was like a breath of fresh air. Unfortunatly, she wondered, in this place, how long would it remain? She smiled and answered the question in good heart, "Oh, no I'm not from round here. I've just come from one of the villages to get help and medicine." She went fairly quiet as she thought of home and all she had left behind but quickly refocused on the girl.
