Biohazard (Remake)

Jayne looked up as the flare lit the night sky. Someone was trying to get help. It was only a few blocks away, but she wasn't sure if she should go. For one thing, she had spent the last year trying to stay away from trouble, and for another, the slums were a very dangerous place for a teenage girl. She turned away to leave (trouble usually spread like fire around here), but something stopped her. She wasn't sure what it was at first, but then she realized: it was a revelation. There was nothing left. No reason for her to live this way anymore. Her parents were gone, she hadn't spoken to anyone in at least a year, and she obviously wasn't going to get help any time soon. She might as well try to help as many people as she could in whatever time she had left. With that thought fresh in her mind, she took a deep breath, held her knife and her gun at the ready, and silently ran through the shadows to the source of the signal.

 

As Danni gazed ahead at the slums, she frowned as a flare went up. She'd never seen a flare before, they had no need of them in a small village but she heard of them and she knew it meant someone was in danger. A stark reminder of what she was getting herself into and how different things in the slums would be to back home. She almost considered turning back and going back home now but she had a job to do, she couldn't let them down. She then wondered who was in danger, and wondered if she could help. She was still a bit away from the slums but if she ran it wouldn't take her too long. Though, what if they had guns, how would her bow stand up to them? She wasn't much use dead. Why was she even thinking this, she was just a little village girl in a big world. Though still, she knew she'd probably regret it, walking straight into the lion's den but maybe, just maybe she could help someone. She made up her mind and set off running, her dark hair flying out behind her. Perhaps she could actually do some real good while she was there.

Bio: Having lost her memory completely, Kanonno had no idea what was going on when she awoke in the Slums surrounded by shady people. Feared for her safety, she grabbed the blue and silver chunky sword that lay beside her and swung it skilfully at them, slightly wounding them and knocking them out. After this incident, she ran around like a headless chicken in search of safety. Eventually, she found a small building in which she claimed as her own. She has no recollection of her past before waking up in the slums, her name and blade skills were the only thing she could recall. She now helps around with some of the younger children and protects them from any Raiders.

Stage 6 is pathetic.

Krill raised an eyebrow as he noticed a bright light emitting from the sky not so far away from him. With a great sigh he clambered out of the broken window, making sure to avoid the glass. Once out of the building, he scaled the grimy, brick wall until he came to the decrepit roof which looked like it may collapse at a moments notice. Training his eyesight on the illuminated area, he noticed 5 dark figures huddled around what appeared to be a wreckage of some sort. "A group...Raiders no doubt." He cracked his knuckles and gave a dark smile. "And where the hunter lurks, the prey is always near by." He leaped off the building and started towards the area at full speed, eager to take some anger out on something that would react to pain.

Kaoru skipped along through the remains of their village, searching through the old and broken things for stuff that wasn't busted or contaminated. Staring at the sky, Kaoru watched the flare burst in the air and rain down. "Pretty..." "Kaoru! Where'd you go?!" Hikaru called. His older brother was always trying to keep a look out for him. "Over here Hikaru!" the younger brother waved his arms in the air and grinned foolishly at him. "Look! A flare!" Hikaru never understood his brother's memory issue, but he seemed to remember all the knowledge he'd obtained. For an 18 year old boy with a 12 year old mind, he sure knew as much as Hikaru did. "Let's go Kaoru. We have to find..." a few coughs and a wavering image of a dog trotted by before he could finish his sentence, "A way to get a cure. Let's go, brother."

 

OOC: Sorry for my first post being a little late. Been really busy.

James was going about his usual business. Keeping his weapons in top condition and keeping his infection under control as best he could. As he looked into the sky, he noticed that a flare had been shot off. Without a thought he gathered his two weapons and went to go see what was going on. It could be someone in trouble, or sick. As he was running, he pulled out a map of the slums. He noticed that the flare was coming from the old shopping mall. What could possibly be going on there? Regardless, someone needed help.

Victor stood almost motionless at his station, keeping a close eye out for anyone that wasn't military or a world leader. Just then, he received a message from his squad's commander. "Mason, there's been a sighting of a distress flair outside of Safehaven. Radar shows it's source is around the old abandoned mall. I need you and your squad to check it out. Non-Lethal force unless attacked." The commander said over the communicator. Victor pressed a button on his throat communicator and a light turned on. "Yes sir. On my way." He replied. He put on a mask and gloves to prevent catching the Hand of Death. He was supposed to wear a full Hazmat suit, but Vic hated wearing them. He exited the dome and headed straight for the flare site.

 

Jayne reached the source of the flare, she was at an old abandoned mall and there were five dark figures, raiders, trying to get at a young girl on a platform. Great, she thought. I finally try out being a hero and the first thing I do is stumble on something I can't handle. Well, it wasn't like she had anything to live for... None of the raiders had seen her yet, she might as well take out one of them. Her knife in her hand, she carefully held it up and then threw it at the one closest to her. It went straight through his back and into his heart (She had great aim) then before anyone had a chance to react, she swung up a pole onto a balcony covered in shadow. keeping perfectly still, no one would be able to see her unless she moved, but she could see everything from where she was. The girl was right across from her, and she looked like she was going through a great deal of pain. She must have the Virus, She thought. Note to self: if we both live through this, don't touch the girl.

Bio: Sooo I wrote about 4 paragraphs of a bio, then I accidently refreshed the page, and all was lost -____-
So instead, I'm just going to write a summary of those paragraphs lol
Xavier once lived in Safehaven with his father, mother, and sister Anastasia. When he was 14 his mother became ill and tried to hide that she was infected, but his father eventually found her out. He is the provider of the family, and has quite some power in the area. He reports to the military that his wife is infected, and soon dozens of soldiers wearing gas masks come invading the home. They tied up and beat Xavier's mother, then did the same to him because his father lied and told the soldiers he was infected as well. After the two are nearly unconcious, the soldiers throw them in the back of a van, take them out of Safehaven, and dump them out into the streets of the slums.
They eventually managed to get back on their feet, and ever since then Xavier has looked after his mother, while also keeping a safe distance from her so that he won't get infected. He longs to see his sister again, and often fantasizes of vengence upon his father.

Picking up a empty can off the ground, Ren tossed it in the air and fired three shots at it. When it landed, there were only two bullet holes in it. "At least I'm getting better." He said before reloading his gun. He was going to pick up the can again before he saw a flare going up in the air. "Guess someone's in trouble." Dropping the can on the ground, he ran in the flare.

 

As Mya peered over the edge, she saw some people she didn't recognize. She didn't care. She had to get off before the building collapsed. Just as she thought that, a gas tank behind her exploded, sending her flying off of the mal rooftop. If she didn't grab the railing at the last second, she would've been a bloody mess on the streets. She groaned and tried to hold on, but was extremely difficult. Her side cramps started hurting more since her body was in a state of panic. The building groaned, threatening to collapse. Anyone! Please help!

Oh great, Jayne thought as the girl yelled for help and dangled from the balcony. At least the raiders are distracted looking for me. The raider she had hit was dead, but the other four had pulled their guns and were looking for the knife thrower. If they still had been trying to get the girl, she would have been an easy reach. She needed to act fast, they might remember their prey any second. Well, nobody lives forever, she thought. She looked down at her empty gun and took a deep breath. Then she threw her gun over the heads of the raiders down the street about half a block away. With a loud clang, it hit the side of a garbage can. The remainig four raiders ran towards the sound, yelling and shooting as they went, looking for her. Without wasting a second, Jayne jumped from the dark balcony to the falling one and ran over to the edge to help the girl. "Quick, grab my hand before they see us!"

 

Panting heavily, Krill stopped next to a dirty old garbage can thinking it would be a good place to stop and take in the situation. Very suddenly, a hand pistol flew right over his left shoulder and hit the garbage can. Stunned, he glared suspiciously into the darkness in front of him, placing his hand over his hidden blade as voices became slightly audible from the distance. "Here we go." He barked as he moved towards the voices, purposely staying in the brightest areas of the street so they could see him straight away. Suddenly, a gun shot rang out near Krill, causing him upon impulse to roll to the side to avoid any danger. "So, they wanna play dirty huh?" He muttered aloud, creeping along in the shadows to remain unseen. 4 dark figures appeared before him, 1 of which seemed to be striking some stupid victory pose, completely oblivious to his surroundings. Taking this opportunity, Krill leaped out of the shadows and unleashed a cry of rage, landing a jumping kick on the idiot. Letting out a cry of surprise, the Raider took a swing at his assailant which Krill easily blocked. "Game over, dude." He smirked, swiping his hidden blade across the man's unprotected neck, causing blood to fly all over the place. "How'd you like them apples?" He yelled at the other dumbstruck Raiders as he shoved the corpse at them.

Hikaru and Kaoru wandered down the empty streets toward the flare. Hikaru knew for sure nothing good would come of going toward the flare, but Kaoru would remind him that what they did they did for the good of everyone else. "Kaoru...are you sure you don't remember turning eighteen?" Kaoru nodded, "As sure as I am that you're my brother. Don't worry about it Hikaru. One day...I'll remember and then, we'll be able to find a cure for you and we'll leave...we'll go someplace clean and live the rest of our days out like that." Hikaru smiled at his brother's optomistic future. "I suppose..."

 

An arrow flew out from the darkness straight into one of the remaining raiders, taking them out. Danni had finally reached the site the flare had come from, it hadn't been too hard to find with all the shots and the commotion. She'd immediatly put her hunting skills into action, staying low, silent and sticking to the shadows as if she was stalking her prey. This was good as it gave her chance to get her breath, get a grip of her surroundings and it kept her out of danger. She'd figured that the girl was on the balcony that looked like it was about to fall and the raiders were down below, waiting for her. She'd seen the boy come out and get one of the raiders, she guessed he was trying to help but his methods made her shudder. Though she guessed there wasn't much choice, so she fired an arrow while she still had the aspect of suprise, although she'd aimed to miss his vital organs, so he'd live if he got help. He was out for the count either way and she wasn't a killer. However she didn't reveal where she was, she felt safer this way but she did call out to them, making sure her voice didn't give away her position, "Thought we'd do this the old fasioned way"

 

Mya looked up to see a girl offering her help. She also could hear Raiders below her beige attacked. She pushed off with what strength she had and grabbed onto Jayne's hand, just in time as soon as she grabbed on, the building exploded, collapsing downwards.

A few miles away, a hovership observed the event.

 

As soon as the girl grabbed Jayne's hand, the building exploded, collapsing underneath them. Jayne yanked hard on the girl's arm, dragging her onto the falling balcony. Then, supporting the girl while trying to maintain her balance, they rode the balcony to the ground. The force of the impact sent Jayne to her knees, but she stood up quickly and ran over to the body of the first raider. Working quickly, she pulled her knife from his back and wiped it clean on his hoodie, then she searched his pockets, scoring a new gun, about ten dollars, and a lighter. She pocketed her new found treasures and checked the gun for bullets. There weren't a lot, but it was better than none. She stood up and turned to the girl. "Those guys have been gone too long for just a decoy. I think there were people back there by that trash can. I'm gonna go check it out, are you gonna be alright here, or do you think you can come with me?"

 

OOC: Gah, Gears 3 kept me longer than expected. BUT I AM NOT A DITCHER!

James finally reached the source of the flare. There was the collapsed building that was the shopping mall, some dead raiders and some people. None of them looked like raiders or military, so he headed over to them. "Anymore raiders here?" He said, raising his combat rifle.

OOCAGAIN: Short post is apologetically short.

 

Xavier lay curled up on the floor of his home, fast asleep. He would twitch and groan every few seconds, for his dreams were dark and terrifying, although they always included the same people. In this particular dream, he was sitting at the edge of a river, laughing and playing with his sister Anastasia. Their parents sat on a picnic blanket a few feet behind them. Suddenly, the clouds above them began to grow dark and cover the whole sky. Rain poured down, lightning struck, and the waves of the river grew rapid. Xavier fell into the water, but quickly grabbed his sister's hand. She supported him but her grip was loosening. He looked at his father in terror, begging for his help. Instead, Mr. Jones stood up, grabbed his wife by her hair, and dragged her into the river, leaving her to the mercy of the storm. He then pulled Anastasia away from Xavier and carried her away from the river. Xavier screamed and pleaded for them to come back until his head sunk below the surface. His lungs emptied, and his mother nowhere in sight, he began to drown. HELP! Help...me...
Suddenly, the nightmare ended. Xavier awoke to the sound of an explosion. He jumped up and peered out the blinds of the window. Just a couple of blocks away he could see smoke rising rapidly, and a building collapsing. Raiders... he thought silently, slowly reaching for the gun in his pocket.
"Mother!" he shouted. She was in the other room. "I'll be back. Stay in your room, close the blinds, and lock the doors. I love you!"
And with that being said, Xavier rushed out of his home towards the explosion.

 

Man, just what happened here? Ren thought reaching the origin of the flare. The building had collapsed and a buich or raider were dead around it. Guess I'm not the only one who saw the flare. Doubting the fact that whoever sent up the flare could have done all this, he began to move closer towards the wreckage.

 

Xavier was close to the disaster now. There was a lot of debree and smoke spreading around the area, making it incredibly difficult to see. However, he continued moving until he was close enough to see the source of the flare which appeared at the time of the explosion. There were dead bodies of other raiders laying around, and about 10 feet ahead of him he could see a young man from behind. It's gotta be a raider he thought, pulling out his gun and pointing it at the man.
"HEY!" he shouted. "STOP RIGHT THERE YOU RAT!"

 

Mya looked up at the girl and stood up straight. I think I'm fine for now. Thanks for saving me back there by the way.
