    I can understand that, but I can't relate to it.
    I can see how between all this beating around the bush with spin-offs, a lack of news, and no real certainty for what the future of the series holds beyond speculation, that interest could decrease. Though since I'm just now playing the DS installments, I'm more than occupied for the time being, and I don't really need an official 3rd title right now.

    Yeah, pokemon isn't really like it was before, and it's getting harder to see these new pokemon as...well...Pokemon :P. I get over it after a while, but this time it's just completely different. I mean, the frog looks like it's wearing glasses for crying out loud. The fox is the only thing that looks like a pokemon, and even than, comparing it to Unova when it came out, it's still a little bit different. I don't know, maybe it's the art style.

    Unova's purpose was to introduce the old Pokémon in a new way. Think about it:

    Trubbish = Trash
    Grimer = Sludge

    There's a reason why the old Pokémon weren't available at the start.

    Yeah, I got that....but even still, a magnemite seems a little more original than a Patrat. Didn't we already do a beaver in D/P/Pt?

    Didn't we do a bird in every Gen?

    Lol, Patarat is more of a prarie dog to me

    At least the birds seem more likely, for how many different bird species there are. And I thought Watchog was more of the prairie dog

    Well, the whole biology of these games is screwed up:

    It says on Bulbapedia that Bidoof is a Plump Mouse and Bibarel is indeed a beaver.

    Mouse---->Beaver

    Patrat is more of a chipmunk. I mean, look at its cheeks, looks like it stores nuts there (and during Watchog's idle animation, its cheeks bulge out)

    EDIT: Bulbapedia states it is likely a mix of a prarie dog, chipmunk, and meerkat

    Chipmunk---->Prarie Dog

    So you can't really trust these games to be accurate on how different species live in different areas, or count on it to not recycle animals that were used before. Pokemon are like animals, different kinds, albeit more that stem from one type of animal.

    And that's where the First Generation had it mostly right. At least they kept the species mostly the same, like pikachu and Raichu still both being mice(give or take), Magnemite and Magneton being....ok, that's a little redundant, and so on so forth. But if you go later on, the species kinda intertwine. I'm just waiting for the day where we get a Mouse turning into a dragon, hahaha......not funny

    This is true, but Gen V essentially did the same:

    Snake with arms and legs---> Snake

    Pig---> Boar

    Otter---> Sea Lion Otter

    That seems to be the real reasoning. I fully agree that it got weird when species intertwined, but Gen V got the standards right again (mostly), but even so, the entire franchise has never been on top of things when it comes to evolution and habitats.

    But back to the point at hand. The new Pokémon seem to not resemble Pokémon simply because they happen to change differently throughout. It's not the art or anything, it's the fact that a fish becomes a dragon, or a tadpole becomes a bird, what have you. The first Gen had biology correct for the most part, yes, then the new Generations screwed it up and they became less realistic and felt less like what the series started as.

    Or we could wait till we find out the version differences to decide....?
