Which is the best Final fantasy game ever? I don't have a lot of Final Fantasy games so I guess I cant decide which is the best of all time. But of the games I have I think FF VII is the best one ( at least the best story ). I am sure that the other Final Fantasy games that I don't have are great to.

i love FFX - i'm not usually into the romantic things, but it was so sweer, i was also so simple to fight, having one turn each you didn't have to smash the controller just to get them attacking. The ending was so sad, reminded me of KH1

    Battle System: FFVI
    Growth System: FFVI
    Job System: FFV
    Level System: FFI

That's what I think. But mostly I like FFVI.

After thinking about this for a long time, I've come to the conclusion that FFX is my favourite of the series. It moved me in a way that no game has ever done before or since (excluding the KH series and TWEWY). It dealt with themes such as love, death and religion in a totally unique way, and I cried a little during the ending.

That being said, I do love FFIV, VI, VII, VIII and IX as well, for so many reasons. But I think FFX is just a little bit better.

FFVII and Crisis Core. The theme songs ftw.

I see here that the most people here like FFX. I agree that it is an awesome game and all but..... I have to pick FFX as my nr.2 Final Fantasy game after FFVII. Even though I like the gameplay and graphics more in FFX I think that VII has a better story ( even though that FFX's story is moving ).

My personal favorite is Final Fantasy IX. I really liked many of the character in the game (namely Zidane, Beatrix, Kuja and Vivi as well as Quina for the comedic relief) and I simply love the soundtrack. I absolutely love the normal battle theme and the boss theme isn't too bad either. It also contains masterpieces such as Forgotten Face, Loss of Me and Dark Messenger, and heck - just about every track in the game was awesome. I also found the growth system in the game - thanks to that, very few pieces of equipment were practically useless. The story was something I also enjoyed very much although it was a bit confusing at times. Still a major improvement from FF VII and VIII in my opinion. Also, on the Final Fantasy scale, the battle system was relatively balanced. (which doesn't say much, but still) I like how it's not possible to get ridiculous amounts of hits, each dealing ridiculous damage in one turn. Yes, I'm looking at you, Omnislash, 4x Cut and Lionheart. The fact that each character has a pre-defined class also appealed to me - the only thing that differentiated the characters in both FF VII and VIII from each other was how broken each character's limit break is whereas each character in FF IX has their own role. (although Freya and Steiner do pretty much the same thing later on - deal 9999 damage with the cost of some MP and Zidane had very few useful abilities)

So yeah, it's definitely FF IX for me. I absolutely love that game although the low difficulty was a letdown.

The only ones that I own are FFX and Crisis Core. Crisis Core was the only one that I've actually beaten though. So I'd say Crisis Core...That's just me though.

But I do agree that VII has the best plot line and is the most popular.

I really don't know. I only know three. FFVII, FFX, and FFXII. Of the three, I'd have to say FFVII. The one I like the least of the three is FFXII.

FF VI and FF VII were my favorite games for the stories and the things you could do. If they had been made in this time, they'd kick the crap out of FFX and FFXII, in my mind anywhoo. The stories just haven't been as good since superior graphics came around. Kind of sad.
