If you had bothered to check out any of my other posts, you would come to the conclusion that this is simply not true.

 

He is however obsessed with memes.... You know, those things that happen when you lose imagination and sacrifice personal identity to be in an in-crowd of "geeks and nerds" and make jokes where the punchline was generated ten thousand images ago.

.... Memes are dumb. And people keep calling chevrons "meme arrows" because memes decided that 4chan snapshots counted as memes.

I think you really should get to know a person before you cast judgement on them, I am not obsessed with memes, but I am beginning to think you might be, obsessed in the fashion that you hate them and immidiately cast whomever uses them in a poor light.

I never pander to tastes of people about me, I do however find the memes to be slightly amusing and as such I occasionally use them in my posts. If I were obsessed with them, I would most likely have registered under a different name, something like Good Guy Greg, or some other meme related theme.

I am obsessed with nothing, I am a fan of many particular things such as final fantasy, kingdom hearts and the breath of fire series, books and learning, I do not try to be a part of any particular scene I just take what I like from what I have found on the internet and made it into my own unique being.

Whether or not you believe me is not important to me, so take this and cast your judgement upon it however you will, it will not bother me either way.

You realize... If I were obsessed... that would mean I'd spend time on it, right? Quick to dismiss means I'm quick to throw it out, which I am. I'm not obsessed with memes- I'm obsessed with my community that I've put 8 years in. I'm obsessed with quality control. I'm obsessed with bettering people. So to recap my earlier post:

No, I said they're lazy humor, non-jokes, and void of identity. Stop using them, stop making it personal, and stop making it like I just smacked you across the chin. This isn't that type of community. If you want to fit in and not annoy people, you should take this as advice. In this same thread, we had people use images from Gundam to add to their jokes. Instead of being some sort of victim because I told you how crap the lazy crap images were, why not opt to better yourself? Post images you know most people aren't going to have seen from 9gag or memebase or whatever and actually add personality. You like FF and BoF? Use some FFXII or Dragon Quarter screens for some reaction images. Or make the images yourself. But riddle me this, do you actually like Dos Equis beer? Do you actually find the commercial itself or the man funny? Is the phrase "I don't always x, but when I do, I y" funny on its own? (let's find out: I don't always do homework, but when I do I use a pen. Nope, that's a sentence. Not a joke) Would you find it funny if it weren't plastered everywhere? To me, it seems otherwise. It seems people who use those images think that using those images and that phrasing is funny. And further add this, if that meme disappeared tomorrow would it even matter to you? I can probably guess not. Meanwhile, I use Metal Gear Rising and Gurren Lagann for my reaction images, because I like those things. They're chevrons. Made popular on the internet by their use for quotes, and dismantling quotes on 4chan as well as their usage in the later entries of the Persona series.
