(not really sure where to put this)

Okay, so lately I've started to write lyrics/quotes concentrating on the presentation, inspired by ones I've seen before. This is new to me so I'm trying out different styles to see what works. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I want to improve.

Lyrics from Lenka - The Show, I had two attempts at this one.

Lyrics from Owl City - Umbrella Beach, again 2 attempts and sorry the seconds one's on it's side I couldn't figure out how to turn it round.

Lyrics from Owl City - Tidal Wave, I like this one. (Oddly this is the first one I did)

I've got a few more I'll add later but it'll only let me attach 5 things per post. So yeah, CnC?

I like these, as I've said before I like the phrases used and you're definitely trying out different ways of presenting them. The fact that some aren't all in one font is really nice, it gives the text variety and makes it more interesting to look at. The stars and doodles around the edges are really nice, as it gives it a thoughtful feel as if they thoughts materialised.

All I can say is keep trying, practise and attempt different techniques to find out which ones work and which ones don't. Good job.

Okay I've done a few more and discovered W's are really hard to do, anyway CnC? How are these and how can I improve? Also in your opinion how do these ones compare to my first lot?

P1000385.jpg I think the lyrics are from Moon River, though they're possibly not the exact lyrics.

P1000384.jpg Lyrics from Colours of the Wind - Pocahontis

P1000383.jpg Yeah just a cute quote.

I like the idea, but the execution could use some work.

Firstly, do it in a brighter area so as to maximise the contrast between the white sheet and the pen. The brighter the white is, the more the pen will stand out. If the paper is grey, then it won't be as effective.

Secondly, use a better pen. Preferably one that's smoother flowing. This'll hit two birds with one stone, as it'll make the words darker, while meaning you don't have to press as hard.

Oh yeah, pressing hard on the paper is bad. Things from the other side can show up, and it creases the paper, making it look messy.

Kill all crinkles. They really do take away from the effect. Consider ironing the paper briefly?

Don't let the paper get dirty. As before, the less grey, the better.

Consider leaving some more space on the edges of the photographs. Currently, it is quite arduous to read the entire thing, because the text is so spread out, and there's no natural place for my eye to focus on.

I think the coloured-in text works a lot better than the outline text. Easier to see.

I'm not sold on the background being included. While it can have an interesting effect in some cases, I feel that you're not fully utilising it. Also, it takes away from the contrast.

Have you considered scanning in the work instead of photographing it?
