Battle of the Kingdoms

Rey took his sword and went outside and tested it out before sheathing it.

 

Sir Walsh smiled and took his sword, "that really isn't necessary Katherin....." he said, "I may be captain....but theres no need for it really....." he said sheathing his sword.

 

Rey went into the stables and pulled a saddle off the hook. "Well, we'd better get the horses ready." he said.

 

Kathy smiled at Sir Walsh and headed over to her horse. She gently stroked it's mane. "Hey, Shadow... you ready for another trip...?" she asked and walked over to get her saddle.

 

Sir Walsh had everything ready, "ready when you two are....." he smiled, "your father said we could leave when ready correct?" he asked Renji.

 

"Yeah, but he'll need some time to get himself ready" Rey said. "And don't call me Renji!" Rey said, embarrassed that Sir Walsh never listened to Rey's rule about being called Renji. Rey saddled up his horse, Drek, and put some horse armor on him, making sure to not hurt Drek, because Drek was a little old...

 

Kathy put the saddle on Shadow and strapped it, making sure it was not too tight, but it would not come undone. Then she brushed her mane, making sure that it would not get matted by the wind. She smiled.

 

"Of course, he did seem a little bit eager to go again. Maybe the trip went to his head, but I won't make rude jokes about that." Rey knew better than to joke about royalty, seeings on he had to put up with it enough himself.

 

"I take it then that we are ready?" Sir Walsh said looking around, "then lets get ready....." he said getting on his horse.

 

Just as Rey had gotten on his horse, King Markus came around to the stables and sighed. "Good. I thought you were all drinking beer and having a good time." he said, referring to the horrible day when one of the knights had let Rey take a drink of beer. "Now, are we ready?"

 

Kathy strapped her bow and arrows to her back and then strapped her sword to Shadow. She got onto the saddle. "I'm ready to go..." she said and smiled.

 

"I assure you King Markus....if I had known what they were doing I would have put a stop to it....." Sir Walsh said still annoyed from that incident, "yes sir...we are ready....."

 

Rey got into his horse's saddle and signaled that he was ready. "Good," King Markus said, "Give me a few minutes to get ready, then we'll be off." With that, he went over to his horse Steel and got himself ready.

 

Kathy just shook her head as she remembered the incident. "Aye, sir..." she said.

 

Rey laughed nervously and turned red, scratching the back of his head. "Yes, the incident was horrible, it was one of the rookie knights, who didn't quite know the rules. Rey had been stumbling around and singing horribly all night.

 

"Lets just forget it ever happened...." Sir Walsh sighed, "your highness....is it really safe for you to be coming to?" he asked, "who will watch the kingdom while your gone?"

 

"I believe the queen and a few of the knights will be watching over the Kingdom while we are away..." Kathy said. "They should be able to keep everything under control..."

 

"The queen" Rey replied, making sure he shook his head to get that queasy feeling he always got when horseback riding out of his head. King Markus came out, his horse more armored over than Rey's.

 

"I see....." Sir Walsh said thinking, "so then we are off I guess......" he said riding out into the courtyard.

 

Rey shook his head again. That queasy feeling was a pain. He and King Mark and Lady Kathy rode out behind Sir Walsh, where a small group of knights were waiting.
