So Ben Affleck is going to play Batman in this movie. Not sure about this, but from what I've seen him in I liked him, so we'll see if he can pull it off. He did great in Daredevil, so that's enough for me to trust that he can pull it off.

    Ah, here we go...

My initial thought is that I actually don't think Affleck will be the worst, but it's certainly a very mixed choice. I mean, he was good in Argo, but then again, that's a different style of movie. And Daredevil was like what, almost ten years ago? I think he can somewhat change out of his bad movie streak. But whatevs, I think we're just overreacting as much as when they announced Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Just have to wait and see...

He wasn't the best actor in the rumors, even though in Argo he portraited a man with a similar tone to Batman, It was not the best possible. He is not old enough to play "Dark Knight" as well.. if they were not going for the best, they could as well chose a unkown actor for us to link his image to the batman, seriously the only thing they could do to make it worse was Ryan Reynalds.

    So this happened:

Anyway, while I liked Ben Affleck in Argo, he just doesn't seem like Batman to me. *sigh* Kevin Conroy will always be the one true Batman to me.

I felt like one of the only people who had faith in Hathaway as Catwoman, AND I WAS RIGHT.

Now Affleck as Batman? I don't see any issue in that at all. So many people falsely believe Christian Bale was the greatest Batman ever...he really, really wasn't. Sure, he did an awesome Bruce Wayne, but as Batman, AKA: The World's Greatest Detective, who's supposed to be skilled in so many martial arts styles from around the world...he was the weakest part of the Nolan series' cast with that role I think. He should have figured out Bane's weakness in under a minute of fighting him. And the fight scenes were really just...lame, to be completely honest.

So, I have hope. Err, as much hope as I can when DC's already being this damn premature about a crossover.

In all seriousness though, I am rather indifferent towards the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. Considering the sheer quantity of Batman-related films that Hollywood dishes out (he's far more popular than other members of the Justice League, you'll notice), Affleck could muck up the performance terribly; and still a long queue of actors would readily take over the cape and cowl.

Affleck is a B-rate actor. When Ben Affleck performs, he performs as though he is Ben Affleck masquerading as his respective character. He can memorize lines fairly well, he can direct -- but there is a noticeable barrier between script and character. I was not impressed with Daredevil, and neither was Stan Lee. I'll withhold judgement till I see him on the big screen, however my expectations for his success are quite slim.

Interestingly, I recall a post-Daredevil Ben Affleck declaring his disinterest in playing another superhero. Obviously he has had a change of heart since.

I was remembering what people were saying about Heath Ledger when he was chosen to be the Joker, Ben could be a diamond in a rough .. now we have to wait and see.[DOUBLEPOST=1377317449][/DOUBLEPOST]I was remembering what people were saying about Heath Ledger when he was chosen to be the Joker, Ben could be a diamond in a rough .. now we have to wait and see.

Yeah, I just don't see myself being intimidated by Ben Affleck as Batman. I would just see Ben Affleck rather then Bruce Wayne on screen. Though I might be surprised and he turns out to do a really good job, he is a good actor.

Also I keep hearing that this movie is going to be titled "Batman vs. Superman". Now I'm not sure if that is true (and if it is, it is stupid as it should be called World's Finest!) but if it is why doesn't Superman get top billing in his own sequel? That's what this movie is, a Man of Steel sequel.

A good idea for the movie would be "Since everybody thinks bat is dead "(in nolanverse), some random dude inherits the mantle, that would be Ben Affleck(Azrael?). And then there would be references within the movie to show us it is the same universe.. if it is well made enough there is a chance that the Bat is back... or not[DOUBLEPOST=1377532925][/DOUBLEPOST]A good idea for the movie would be "Since everybody thinks bat is dead "(in nolanverse), some random dude inherits the mantle, that would be Ben Affleck(Azrael?). Yeah, the Nolan movies aren't canon in this universe (or so I've been told before). So it is unlikely.

...Got to admit, he does kinda look like Lex Luthor a bit when bald.

It's just been confirmed that Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot (of Fast and Furious 4, 5, and 6 fame) has been cast as Wonder Woman for Batman vs. Superman. I'm sure after she goes through some training, she'll look the role even more, but I haven't seen anything besides Fast 4 so I don't know about her acting...but come on, Jamie Alexander would have been perfect.

It was mentioned a while ago that she would be in it, but what kind of role she would play hasn't been revealed.
There's also rumors about Nightwing being in it.

...just have no clue what's going on with this film now. ANOTHER hero who we've had no time to get used to, in a crossover film. Ugh.

But at least Gal Gadot would be good for the role. Maybe she could slim down a little though, to better fit Wonder Woman.

Slim down? She needs to bulk up, in my opinion.

Yeah, I kind of fear that they want to use this movie to show that "every other hero is already established in the DC Universe. Superman's the baby which means we can do a Justice League movie next!" when we need time to get used to the other heroes, like you said. I mean, I don't want another Batman origin story, but without some pretext of who Batman is and why he's that way (like...seeing his own methods at work by themselves, not with others), Batman just comes off as the dick of the team. I mean, I'll accept that they're cutting down the roster for the JL, but I hope it's not just a few Superman movies and then a Justice League movie. I would accept a Superman series of movies where he meets the other heroes before forming a JL (but even that's a little ridiculous, in my opinion.

OH I WAS LOOKING AT THE WRONG ACTRESS x.x
The actual actress, yeah, needs to bulk up. I was thinking of the actress in the 6th movie who was like The Rock's military aid or whatever.

Exactly. We don't need (or want) origin movies, but we need to establish characters that are this important. Marvel's The Avengers only worked because the four main stars each had a movie (or 2 in Iron Man's case) for us to learn about them. Even Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Nick Fury got more screen time than just The Avengers.

...I dunno why I explained all that. Meh.

I really do not like this. I didn't like the idea of not doing a direct Man of Steel sequel and skipping to a Batman/Superman movie but I came to be okay with it over time. This is too much. Forgetting that they just started this franchise and Superman being the first in it deserves more development before they start doing cross-overs, it's painfully obvious that WB hasn't absolutely no confidence in their ability to sell their stuff. They are really jumping the gun on this whole DC cinematic universe thing. I could be proven wrong, but I highly doubt establishing your biggest characters in the same movie before giving them their own films is going to work out. I wonder how much of this is them trying to not do exactly what Marvel did, despite that being the best way to do it. And when the inevitable Justice League movie comes, I'll be asking 'what's the point' because we've basically got it now. Again, I could be proven wrong. I don't want to judge too much because we don't know what role these characters will play, but on the surface of it I don't like the idea at all.

So apparently it's been announced that the guy from The Social Network, who is known for his role in Zombieland, will now be playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman. Thoughts?
