Just a few days ago, the word got out that writer/director Christopher Nolan was working on a third Batman film. David S. Goyer and Nolan’s brother Jonah have begun working on a screenplay. These are the three main architects behind Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It’s rather reassuring to know that the same three are teaming up to make another movie on the caped crusader. When last we saw Batman, he was sacrificing his reputation in order to save Harvey Dent’s, who had become the super-villain Two-Face. Commissioner Gordon and Batman agreed that it was better if the police and the public believed that Batman killed Harvey Dent, in order to preserve the latter’s reputation as a hero for the people. It will be real interesting to know how they follow up Batman, the fugitive. Christian Bale, who played playboy Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, said that he signed for three movies when it was time to film Batman Begins. With Christopher Nolan on the project again, he will most definitely reprise his role as he said he might not be interested if Nolan was not part of the third film. As for other cast member such as Morgan Freeman, who played Lucious Fox, CEO of Wayne Enterprises, and Michael Caine, who played Bruce’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, they both expressed interest in returning, but aren’t sure if they will be written into the story or not. Nothing official on the casting yet, the project is still in its infancy. A few plot outlines have been reported by ComicBookMovie.com. An unnamed source from Warner Bros. has leaked some plot information on the third film. This is not official news and nothing has been confirmed by anyone, so take this with a grain of salt. Courtesy of ComicBookMovie.com: - The Riddler will be the primary villain. He discovers Batman’s true identity. - Arkham Asylum will figure prominently in the story. - Several classic villains will appear, including the Penguin and Mr. Freeze (though as Dr. Fries, not as the super-villain) - Barbara Gordon will have a featured role. - Commissioner Gordon will mention Metropolis and Lex Luthor. - Dick Grayson may be in the movie, though not as Robin. Surely more official information will begin to emerge from the DC/Warner camp. But for now, these are only rumors and hearsay.
The Riddler? They better do him justice. I'm not a big fan of the Penguin. He's always seemed like comical bad guy fodder to me. I love how they're introducing characters early (Robin, Batgirl, Dr. Freeze) beforehand to lead into another movie and Metropolis and Luthor to lead into Justice League or at least a Superman/Batman team up, but it seems a little much for one movie, even if it's' only hints, know what I mean? However, I am extremely excited by this. I wonder who'll play The Riddler.
Um they expressed that they refuse to put Robin in the series saying this is a Prequel series to all the other Batman series yet I do not know about Batgirl.
Is kind of disappointed that Poison Ivy isn't in the list of Villains, but the Penguin and the Riddler sounds really great ! Have a feeling that this is going to be awesome already, can't wait.
Holy crap Penguin. Holy crap Penguin. I friggin' love Penguin. <3 And of course, Bale vs. Depp is like a dream come true. That rumor's been floating around for a while now without getting struck down, so I'm thinking it's for real. And they've worked together before, so...
Nolan's Batman movies are not prequel's to the Burton/Schumacher movies. Both series are completely unrelated.
I do not remember where the bloody crap I read it, but I saw that somewhere. Do not ask me how. This is supposed to be the origins of Batman so I am guessing that this is why they are prequels.
Riddler as the main villain would be a brilliant way to *hopefully* end Nolan's trilogy. I'm still hoping that David Tennant auditions for the role. I don't want to see this Nolan whore this series out which I'm sure he won't unless he's got a good script. Luthor will more than anything be a little reference for the comic book fans since Nolan has already stated that this is a realistic vision of Batman and Superman wouldn't fit into Nolan's universe. Nolan also said he's never adding Robin so don't get your hopes up for Robin in another film, I'm pretty sure Bale also said he refuses to do the movie with Robin or something along those lines.
It was probably just someone saying something that they thought. Heath Ledger's Joker is completely differant to the Jack Nicholson's Joker. Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent is completely differant to Tommy Lee Jones' Harvey Dent. The Batman movies from 1989 to 1997 are their own continuity. It begins and ends there. Batman Begins was a reboot, a complete start from scratch. Not a prequel.
Yeah, what he said. These are not prequels. Tim Burton's version of Batman and then the other director's (who fudged things up) are their own takes on Batman. This is Nolan's take on the character. There is no real continuity in the movies that are done by alternate directors.
It will be interesting to see who portrays the Riddler in this one. I'm not entirely sure if I'd like to see Johnny Depp play him, but I'll admit that would be interesting.
I hope Gordon mentioning Metropolis means they're planning to make a new superman movie that doesn't bomb
DICKGRAYSON DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON. <<<<<<<33333333333333333333333 I hope we can see The Flying Graysons. Tissues will be needed! yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. I am so ****ing excited.
Edward Nygma~ Well this just made my day. The mentioning of Lex Luther and Metropolis. .hmm wonder what that means.
Well um Apparently Christopher Nolan is supposed to be doing a Superman Film, so he may be refrencing that fact.
