Most girls have had barbie dolls.
But now when I look at them I see how materialistic they make them and how slu** they make their clothes. IMO they a bad role modal.
YEs I know it just a doll but still

    EDIT:
And it shows them to be super skinny

I agree. And Its teaching girls they have to be super skinny and big chested to be like a model.

Same with Bratz dolls. They are teachin them to be like little spoiled B*****. Have you seen the new movie???!! Its sending all the wrong messages.

I agree, girls new a new kinda doll, that shows them, it's better not to look like super models and just to be your self.

I find it ridiculous how a freakin' piece of plastic can brainwash the minds of little girls...and sometimes boys.

The doll itself is okay, actually, but it's these new versions of Barbie that's bad. It's giving out the message the girls should be materialistic and body-conscious.

Ya, the barbie versions from when I was 5 were actually nice. They had the vet version with little Kelly, and Ken, and they looked NORMAL.

The old ones, I remember, were more....elegant, with her little balldresses. Most of the Barbies in the box in my basement had dresses. Their faces were more sweet and innocent, now they look like little b*****s.

Ya, either the older barbies were normal, or they wore elegant fantasy ballgowns like the ones little girls like.

NOT a mini skirrt and a leather jacket.

I must say Hannah montana is a bad role model -.-
Maybe its just because I dont like her but....Still *twitches*

Barbie's are bad though. I mean how many times does barbie have to get married! There's thousands of wedding dolls 0.0

IMO they just show what a **** you CAN become.
Only you choose your way of life, your path.
And if you want something made of plastic to decide for you, your choice.
    I rest my case.

its just a dool for little girls, most of them dont really care how skinny the dools are its the same figure the doll has had since before most of us were born

I used to play with Barbies all the time but I just liked to play games with them they were no role model to a 6 year old. If you do see it as a role model then I agree with you.

I've always thought of Barbies as a girly-girl toy (I was NOT a girly-girl!).They used to have a Barbie that said, in a choked voice, "Math is hard!" They took it off the market pretty quick because a lot of people didn't want their daughters listening to that. I've never played with Barbies, I've always thought they were stupid. Yes, they are a bad role model for young girls. It's not good for little girls to play with toothpicks who wear trashy clothes.

I totally agree with you! They are a really bad role model! My little sis still has Barbies and still plays with them and the other day she came to me and said: "Sis...when I grow up I wanna be like my barbies and have cool clothes like them!" I just stood like this: "O.O" Cool? Those clothes are not cool at all! At least for children! I don't want my sis to wear clothes like those! C'mon they barely wear anything! I know they're just dolls and not real but still...

    Agreed.

To me, Barbie shows girls how to be anorexic, ****ty and such. Like little mini Paris Hiltons.

Damn, they piss me off. Wish they'd stop.

They need t obring back the ball gown dolls. Those were my favoritews when I was younger. I didn't like the scantly clad, I loved the big dresses.
