Okay guys I decided to install the free version of AVG security program on my old Windows XP and i've had a heap of problems.

I've tried uninstalling it but it says there is something missing so it fails

I can't remove it via the Control Panel because my list of programs isn't loading

I really don't know what to do guys. My computer is also saying that it isn't connected to the internet yet everything else can connect to the net just fine.
Please help guys, I really don't know what to do

Did you, by chance, install the full version trial instead of the free version?

When I upgraded sometime last year, I accidentally did that and had to uninstall it, but halfway through that, I noticed the free version, which installed without any problems.

I've been using AVG Free for several years with only occasional bumps in the roads -- last bump was what I just said.

Ah, yes I installed the full trial version, that was probably what was wrong but I managed to uninstall it earlier without many problems. I have no idea what was wrong with it before but eh. I suppose the firewall must have been blocking the internet for some reason. And I have no idea why I couldn't access my Control Panel fully...
Does the basic Free version slow your computer down? I found that it slowed my computer down by heaps. If it doesn't I might consider installing it xD
And thanks for the advice, I'll know next time not to install the full one xD

You'll get occasional "freezes" (not really freezes, just don't know what to call them), but they're hardly noticeable.
