    Timebending? lol no

Whenever time travel is introduced into a creative series, it causes a lot of plot holes, never mind the logical issues brought up with the idea. It also wouldn't work in with the themes presented by the series I think.

If this isn't allowed feel free to delete the post.

I watched the first episode. It was okay. I liked the new characters they added but their concept of time isn't that great. Based on the time it's supposed to be in, we shouldn't have cars yet.
And if it really is seventy-years in the future, then Katara should be dead.
    Also, Korra is a mary-sue.

The cars bit is excusable, as Republic City is essentially a melting pot for all four nations, and the Fire Nation technology (blimps, airships, tanks, etc) combined with other innovators from the Earth/Water nations would enable much, much more than cars, imo.

Also, some characters in Avatar tend to live quite a while. Kyoshi didn't die until 230. :v

And I don't think she is? While she does come across as Sue-ish in regards to having mastered three styles of bending already, she also has a giant flaw in her lack of spirituality, which is why she cannot Airbend properly at all. Plus she's also not even attempting to understand the Equalists, who actually have quite a few good points when you consider it all.

Overall, I wouldn't say she's a Sue just yet. Even though it's only a few, her flaws are pretty fundamental aspects keeping her from truly living up to the Avatar name, which she desperately wants to achieve.

Fact: Bending HAS been the cause of every world war. As much as I love the benders, I can see why this would be a believable issue to non-benders and those whose lives have been abused by benders.

Plums covered the bit about technology. Fire Nation already had blimps and tanks. Cars aren't that far-fetched, especially with 70 years of development.

Katara is around 85 in Legend of Korra (14 at the end of Book 3). People often live to be that old, even older, in the real world.

Korra is barely what I would consider a Mary-sue. She's actually muscular compared to all the other female characters I've seen in the series, she's still quite arrogant about Spirituality and the stance of the Equalists, and as much as she likes to act somewhat tomboyish (constantly pulling up her sleeves to reveal her arms), she still has a girlish side to her, as evident when Mako shows up to see her.

I enjoy whenever the "villains" of a series are better written than simply being "EVIL!" I feel sympathy for the Equalists, because they bring up good points about Bending and the harm its done to the world and its people.

So has anyone else lacked the will-power to refrain from watching the fourth episode?

Mako + Asami = do not want

Meh, it could be a bump in the road for a reason. I remember how TLA was rather unbelievable for it's cross shippings, making much the confusion of love easier to avoid.

I guess what I'm saying is, they are making LOK a lot more realistic, both in storytelling, and psychologically.

Has anyone watched the leaked 4th episode?

    BIG SPOILER
When Korra is knocked out by Amon and sees all those images of the past, were those people Sokka, Toph, and Aang? They're was a huge resemblance to them, but it could have just been a younger Tenzen and a younger Lin. The man before them looked like Sokka as an adult though.

Just finished watching episode three and I gotta say this is so not for an audience of ten year olds like the old series. :\ There's no blood, but it's so much more darker from the old series. It kind of gave me bad vibes just watching it, even though it was just a cartoon. Nice take on the new show with the technology and the idea, I just wasn't expecting it to take turns like gangs and such.

Maybe I'm just a wimp or sheltered, but eeeeeh... *shrugs*

The creators have specifically stated that this series will be for an older audience, with darker and edgier themes, to be fair.

Ah, alright! That makes more sense. Maybe because the old series attracted more of the older people then...?

Oh my gosh episode 4. I love this series! It just keeps getting better and better!

Seeing all the old gAang grown up, even for just a split second was amazing.

...I never thought the original series was aimed at ten year olds o.o

I mean, I can totally see it being ok for younger kids, but the story and character development felt really authentic, never "dumbed down" to put it in a way so that little kids can enjoy it.

And I don't see how gangs could not be expected with the new era honestly.

    Finished watching episode 4.
Ended on a bit of a dark note, still enjoyed seeing what Sokka, Toph and Aang looked like as Adults.
Romance subplot is a nice addition as well.

    Very dark episode

They just don't look the same as adults, you could tell they were under great deals of stress. Especially Aang and Sokka. Toph just looked like she was there as a body guard or something.

I didn't watch the leak, so I waited until this morning but...jesus.

    I DON'T TRUST ASAMI
    or her father
    at all

Everything about that meeting with Mako was way too convenient, plus the fact that her father and Tarlok seemed to know each other. They know Mako is close to Korra (and Bolin), they know that the Fire Ferrets needed money; essentially they backed her into a corner where she couldn't refuse helping Tarlok. On top of that I have my doubts as to if that "Equalist training center" was actually real. Tenzin established that Tarlok just wants more power, him allying with the Avatar and appearing to bust up a crime ring would get him public support to do a lot more **** in the future. I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THEM.
But wow that last five minutes was intense, I don't think I've ever actually felt afraid of a villain like I have with Amon. Steve Blum is doing a fantastic job with him and I really can't wait to see where this is going.

But on a completely different note, my friends have told me that my dog is actually Naga.

LoK really DOES just get better and better. Loved this episode.

Oh my god, when I saw Asami I got really bad deja vu. I wondered why, but then I realized she looked A LOT like June. The Bounty Hunter who Zuko hired to track down Aang. Asami did mention that she lost her mother when she was young, maybe June is her mother? I wouldn't be surprised if they were related somehow.

I really didn't like Tarrlok. He seemed a bit TOO pushy. I realize the avatar would be great to have on a team and everything, but he realizes that Amon can take people's bending away (I also noticed something about that ability, which I will bring up in the next point). Does he want Korra to lose her bending? I mean I wouldn't want the avatar to lose her bending, which is very likely if she fights against Amon.

Also, they mentioned Chi blocking. They all use this ability, which can 'take' someone's bending. If we remember back in A:TLA, Ty Lee also used Chi blocking. It was used on Katara, but we all know she regained her ability to bend a bit later. Could this mean the 'victims' of Amon regain their bending abilities later? Or maybe this is a stronger form of Chi blocking?

And... I honestly didn't realize the Air nomad with the facial hair in the flashback was Aang. I thought he was a younger Tenzin. Oops.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Mako x Asami. I got so mad when I saw that. I really did. It urks me for some reason.

I saw taht too. I don't think June could be her mother though. Maybe her grandmother. The age difference would have been to great for her to have children and Asami is not old enough to give June any chances of being the mother.

Tarlok seems like a dangerous character. He will do something that is going to cause one of the main characters to lose their bending permanently which will most likely cause Korra to enter the Avatar State for the first time.

We have all discussed the Chi Blocking. We aren't certain whatsoever at this point.

I also was irritated about the Mako x Asumi thing. Not a clue why.
