Avatar: A New Hope

{ooc: going to wait to post again until after the king speaks to everyone. Don't want myst and I jumping ahead in time...}

 

Roku sat in the den his eyes closed. There were four others in the den with. Only the Kyoshi Warrior was still awake. Roku’s mind was going through his past mistakes. He began to remember the old days, before he was declared a traitor.

At Age 12 Roku began training with his fire bending master and only a year later he finished his fire training. He became the youngest fire bender to earn the title “Fire Bending Masterâ€.
At age 16 Roku meet the princess for the first time. His father was one of the generals to the fire lord and Roku went with him to a fire nation war meeting. That’s when he saw Princess Adena and started to fall in love with her. The fire lord allowed him to spend time with her until his father lost his seat to a younger general. As his family needed money Roku joined the Fire nation army.
At age 20 after winning many battles for the fire nation Roku became a general himself. He then began seeing Princess Adena again. At age 22 he defended the fire nation against a fail northern water tribe invasion. Soon after both Roku’s parents died .The fire lord saw how close Roku and his daughter were growing, and at age 23 Roku was sent to the earth kingdom.
Soon Roku learned the fire lord knew about his father’s affair to an earth kingdom woman. Thinking his family could no longer be trusted, the fire lord hatched a plan to take care of Roku once and for all. Roku was supposed to die along with his sister, but you can’t kill a fire bending master so easily. In rage Roku attacked his squad and fled. Everything was taken from him his sister was gone, he could no longer see the princess, and he was marked as a traitor.

Roku opened his eyes pain, was flowing through his chest. It has been 2 years and the princess still hated him. Would she ever know the truth? He took a deep breath “Hello†he said to the Kyoshi warrior “My name isRoku.â€

Tasuki left the young Waterbender, Kota, alone in his throne room and proceeded towards the den where a few of the other benders had already gathered. He paid them no mind, however, as he approached an object in the back of the room which was covered with a curtain. He removed the curtain to reveal a large metal gong hanging by the wall, then grabbed a mallet beside it. After taking a deep breathe and a position beside the large gong, he began to slam the mallet against it repeatedly, causing an incredibly loud noise to reach every corner of the palace. The den itself shook slightly from the vibrations of every impact.
"Benders!" bellowed the King in his deep, powerful voice. "Come forth immediately! It is time!"

Draco opened his eyes very slightly, and very slowly. The room around him was an enormous dilating blur that spun endlessly, but gradually came into focus over the course of a few minutes. He tried to make sense of what was happening, or at least where he was. Every wall was covered in various shades of green and brown, hanging with the most elegant paintings and hand-sewn banners Draco had ever seen. Someone was beside him. A girl. Not only that, but a Waterbender. One with dark skin, long flowing brown hair, and beautiful blue eyes. His memory began to develop at a quicker pace and he could suddenly remember meeting her in the town center of Ba Sing Se...just before the Fire Nation attacked.
"W-where are they?" he stammered, grabbing the girl's wrist. "The...the FNA soldiers."
More memories flooded into his mind. He could now visualize the sinister Fire Nation Princess, Adena, making her way up the Earth King Palace's front steps. He tried to stop her, but that's as far as he could remember before losing consciousness and regaining it now.
"The king!" Draco gasped. "Is he alive?"
Just then a loud vibration began to ring in his ears, keeping a slow rhythm.

 

Bai trailed behind the guard and the others, her eyes shifting from every corner of the city they had walked through. Entering the palace, she saw even more damage and was surprised that the fire benders were even able to get in. I guess this should have been the first place I should have come to. Bai bit down on her lip lightly and momentarily closed her eyes. She was glad for the most part that the Fire Nation soldiers retreated, but she probably would have felt better if the palace wasn't damaged. At least the king is still alive. Perking an eyebrow, Bai cocked her head to the side and stared at the guard. "What does the king want with us?" A frown formed on her lips when no response came and stopped behind the others when she figured they came to where they needed to be. She opened her mouth to speak once more but quickly closed it when a pillar shot up beneath their feet. When it came to a halt, Bai quickly covered her ears and turned around, seeing the King.

Adena batted her eyelashes playfully. The waterboy was eating it up and she could barely contain her overwhelming amount of joy. She lightly wrapped her fingers around his forearm, about to head in the direction of the gate when a voice came booming throughout the kingdom. benders! Come forth immediately! It is time! She looked up at him nervously. Even though she was clearly older, he had a good few inches on her. Her reddish-brown eyes glistened as if she were about to cry again. The charade was working perfectly. Even if he left her, she could escape the city thanks to the wig kai bought her.

"The king is calling. Are you going to leave me?" Adena twirled the ends of the long black wig anxiously. He seemed to be growing attached to her, which would make escaping easy. At this point, the problem would be getting rid of him once she was safely outside of the city.

 

Kota had left the throne room to look for Kai, but he didn't know where to begin. He had no idea where anything was. After spending a few minutes lost, he heard a gong and the Earth King calling for the benders to assemble. He figured Kai might be headed there, and followed the sound.

 

Rolan awoke from his sleep when the king started to bang the gong, and he shot his upper body forward so he could get up, to quickly fall back down due to pain in his body. He couldn't move his body very much, apparently he had gotten hit more than he thought. He did his best to roll over and and managed to get up using his hand and knees. It took him a bit, but he finally managed to stand, holding his gut due to the amount of pain that he was feeling. He started moving his hand across his sides on his torso counting softly."1......2.....damn, how did I bust up two ribs...? Oh well, can't be helped now.He said with a faint breath and pain in his voice. You could tell that Rolan wasn't in the best of shape, he was grasping his torso, a little slumped, and gritting his teeth and sweating a little. He finally began to look around the room. That one waterbender, Liao, she finally made it to the palace. The air bender that he saw on his way to the palace that was lying on the steps was here too, he appears to be alive and awake now. There was a kyoshi warrior here as well. He never thought he would see one of them in his lifetime. And there were a couple of other people that he hadn't seen before today here as well."Looks like....the party is....all here, huh? So....anybody know where the drinks are at?Roaln said with sarcasm in his voice and trying to force a laugh, but got only pain.

 

A gong went off and Kai's ears were in great pain. The Earth king could be heard calling all bender. Adie looked at him with lonely eyes asking him if he would leave her to go to the king's call. Kai answered "I can not just leave you behind. You need me to help you heal your wounds. There is no way a fragile girl like you could never survive alone. I'm hear to stay." He lead her out of the city and into the forest. He sat her down so he could go and gather food for the her. She looked famished and dehydrated. Kai began to believe he may have found love. He did not go far from her though. He had to make sure she wouldn't move and hurt herself. He gathered berries and fresh water, handing it over to Addie. "Here you go, love. Eat up. You won't get better unless you eat"

 

A smiled crossed her lips as one of the others in the room decided to speak to her, "I'm Aria, it's a pleasure to meet you" She said, bowing her head slightly in respect to him, only to look straight back up as the Earth King told them to come forward. "Not sure I technically count in that score but I'm not missing out." She mutteded with a grin, looking around at the other people in the room. It had began to fill up now with people originally from all over the world and she'd haxard a guess that they had almost every type of bender if not all. Ba Sing Se must be more multiculteral than she thought, though she was suprised that there didn't appear to be many locals of the city. She thought she recognised some of them who she'd glanced through the flames but others she did not. She looked back towards the King, wondering why they'd been summoned, was it simply to thank them or was there more to it than that?

 

Liao was startled when her wrist was grabbed, but it was only Draco. She stared at his facial expressions, he looked worried. "The FNA soldiers are gone or being push out of the city, and the King is fine he didn't get that title for nothing trust me." Liao said then reach for his hand and slowly cupped it. "Everything is going to be okay, you need to get as much rest as you can, we need a leader for the resistance." Liao said calmly, then a gong sound went off. She turn her head then back to Draco, "What was that?" She was startled by the sound think maybe the FNA was back. A bead of sweat rolled down her forehead, in fear that she wasn't ready for another attack just yet.

 

Roku smiled “Nice to meet you Aria”. Then he heard the earth king voice "Benders! Come forth immediately! It is time!" Time for what Roku thought confused. He saw the other 3 were awake and recognized the boy from earlier.” The king is fine” he said to him “Adena has been captured.” Roku turned to Aria “We better not keep him waiting.” He looked at the man who asked for drinks “Can you walk my friend?” he asked stretching out his hand.

 

"Nah, I can walk just fine. Just my pride hurts.....and my ribs......and the burns, just pretty much everything hurts. It has been awhile since I fought like that. So how about you, how was your day today? Do anything exciting?"Rolan said with a small grin on his face, and pain showing in his face. Rolan then hobbled over to Roku and put his free arm on Roku's shoulder, seeing as he was probably the only one closest to him and his height."But if you wanna help a fellow old guy out, wanna be my crutch for now?"Rolan said with a smile. He didn't know any of the people here, but if they helped fight today, then he accepted them as allies.

 

“Oh my day was good, saw my ex-girlfriend yeah she tried to kill me.†Roku laughed “talk about your messy breakups.†“Still it seems like you got the worst of it†he said. He let the man lean on him. “Don’t suppose the princess gave you those wounds, there some water benders here maybe they can heal you.†“My name is Roku by the wayâ.

 

"Ex girlfriend tries to kill you? Sounds exciting. So what was it? Commitment issues? You liked her, she loved you kind of thing?"Rolan let a couple of chuckles slip hearing himself say that."Not all of them, she has her fair share on her. Like this really good sunburn on my back and neck here from how hot her flames were. She came close to taking my face off with one of her Lightning bolts, but I got out of the way just in the nick of time. And I'm not entirely sure on how I broke two ribs, but I did. Guess it was the adrenaline,because I didn't feel it just till now. Guess I over exerted my bending and hurt myself. And don't say anything to the water benders, but I don't think their healing skills are all that great."He laughed a little about the water benders healing skills as he thought about it."And I'm Rolan, pleased to lean you there Roku."Roland extended the hand that was grasping his torso out to shake Roku's hand.

 

Roku laughed and shook Rolan's hand. "Nice to meet you Rolan and something like that, I had to leave her and she never forgave me."
"It's a long story the fire nation has been after me for 2 years". Roku paused for a moment "I had to leave everything behind and I never stopped running until now."
His smiled returned "so what do you think the King has in store for us?"

 

"I wish I could tell you I know the feeling, but being a drunkard for the past couple of years doesn't help bring the ladies in, if you know what I mean.Rolan said with a laugh and a smile on his face knowing he never had to feel that kind of pain, which then he got to thinking that he has been alone for awhile. He quickly pushed away those thoughts and came back to reality."Your Fire Nation? Man, never thought I would be leaning on the shoulder and being buddy buddy with a Fire Nation Citizen. The day just keeps getting weirder and weirder don't it."He said kind of excitedly."To be honest, I'm not sure what the Earth King has in store for us. This is the first time I have been in his presence. And to be honest, I don't feel like I should be here. I'm just a simple drunk doing his part for his home and brothers and sisters. Anybody would do the same if they were truly a man, wouldn't you agree?"He looked over to Roku after asking his question, waiting for Roku's response to see how he would answer it.

 

"Your right I am fire nation" Roku frowned. "Im also a fire bending master, and a traitor." "I loved Princess Adena and now she wants me dead" Roku laughed "Yeah believe it or not she was once very sweet."

Roku looked at Rolan after hearing his question and smiled. "Your right I spent the last 2 years running, I got in many fights i shouldn't of been in because I stopped and help everyone I saw"."I guess I saw it as reparation for all the pain the fire nation has caused." Roku chuckled "Did you ever expect those words to come out of a firebender"s mouth."

 

"A Fire Nation Solider and Fire bending master, well the day does get weirder.......wait, you use to date psy-, I mean, that lovely girl with the blonde that was drug out of here not to long ago. Wow sir...........I feel for you. After this, I'm buying you drinks.....if there is still a intact bar around here, that is, haha.He said that with a new life in his voice, he still felt pain, but knowing that he made a new friend, and a new ally, things were starting to look up."Would you hate me if I said I probably wouldn't believe it if I did hear that comes from a fire benders mouth. But look at what has happened here today. The Fire Nation breached the ancient city of Ba Sing Se, the city they say that can never be breached. A small band of people managed to do most of the repelling of the Fire Nation forces where the Earth Bending army of Ba Sing Se could not. The Fire Nation's Princess has been captured, a traitor to the Fire Nation helped defend Ba Sing Se from it's invaders. Water benders, Air benders, Earth benders, Fire benders, and even none benders united to stop the Fire Nation invasion, and if you would agree with me on this, a Earth bender and Fire bender master just became friends today. If I were to walk outside this palace right now, and see the BIGGEST Lion Turtle sitting at the palace doorstep right now, I wouldn't be surprised at all.......well..,maybe a little.He said with a big smile on his face

 

Roku burst out into laughter "Yeah that my girl the psycho isn't she great." "There is a different side to her, and if I can get through to it then maybe she go back to normal". " Yes i will have a drink with you, a person can only drink tea leaves for so long" Roku smiled "No i would not hate you, 2 years ago I was another fire nation army mindless-droid". "I often wonder what would of happened if i stayed Adena and i would have probably gotten married and my world would be the same". He looked at Rolan "You know what I wouldn't change it for the world i seen so much more then the fire nation but i just wish she would understand."
Roku smiled returned to his face " Yes I believe I just made a great friend if you can trust a fire bender that is, but you are amazing only a few have survived an Adena rampage. Roku burst into laughing once again but he felt sick when he thought about her

 

Rolan was having a great time talking with his new friend, until he brought up the fight between him and the princess, then the smile and happiness left Rolans face."You know, I was hoping that she would have killed me back their. I have brought so much dishonor to my family, that I don't deserve to live. That is why I challenged her to a duel. I was hoping to die and regain my honor for dueling and fighting to the death with her, protecting what my parents fought to protect. But it looks like I won't get that chance now....." Rolan said with discouraged words.
