Avalon: The world of no return

Vin stared at the woman and grinned over at Ash, "Found her." he turned his grin to her.

Ash sighed and leaned against a tree, "A woman trapping us with dark energy balls. Isn't that a bit suspicious? And your reason for this behavior is?" His pistol gleamed in his hand, even though he noticed Vin's relaxed smile and easy words of 'found her'. He didn't believe someone could act so hostile and be the red team's leader.

 

"That was too easy. Avalon's security is getting weaker by the second." Kyoko sighed, walking the way to her cabin in the woods. Lifting her head up, she heard a familar voice and a familar growl. "Huhn?" She walked forward, seeing her best friend Sakura talking to a man with blonde hair. "Sakura, Sakura, Sakura. Talking to strangers? I thought that was above you."

Sakura rolled her eyes. "He was following me. I needed to protect myself, don't I? Plus, Dreamer's here, so if he makes one wrong move...."

Mikazuki looked down at the two. "Thank you for calling me hostile. I need more reputation. Anyway, being the leader of the red team, I need to follow my instincts. And a pyschic's instincts are very demanding." She turned her attention to the other guy with black hair. "What do you mean, 'Found her?'"

 

Ash rolled his eyes and turned back to his dinner, "Great, you just had to ask. Here we go again."

Vin stood and saluted, "First Sergent Vincent Perry. But everybody calls me Vin. At your service required by the military to serve and protect members of the red team for the investigation of Avalon." he took a deep breath.

Ash noticed his breath and lifted a hand, raising a skeletal hand from the ground to wrap around Vin's leg, "Please don't start reciting that dumb military code. Just please."

 

"Ok so you answered the basics, but whats with the power? and the animal? I've yet to see anyone with any kind of ability like that, I myself only have THE latest and greatest of any kind of technology out there" Clark put particular emphasis and pride into that part. "Oh and by the way, my name is Clark, Clark Abel and im kind of a genius." He smirked "But don't worry i don't work for anyone that wants to hurt you and i have no bad intentions. It's all just.....research, think of me as a free agent" he while simultaneously typing into a holographic keyboard displayed over his arm. "I won't get into too many details......" He started to trail off as he became lost in thought, an almost mesmerizing look appeared in his eyes as if he wasn't even there.

 

"Okay, was it just me or did anyone catch the words 'agent', and 'research?" Kyoko asked, sarcastically. Sakura shot her a look that said, "Don't talk that way." Putting her hands up, Kyoko opened her bag and tossed a soft pink spell book to her. "There Kura. That's the book you wanted, no?" She said, using the nickname she called Sakura since they met.

Sakura looked at Clark, and then back at the book. "Our power comes us. I mean, we make it. Me and Kyoko here are among the last ones left with that ability. And about the animal..." Dreamer went cross eyed with fury. "I prefer to be called Dreamer or Sakura's follower." He barked, startling Clark. "Yeah. Don't worry, he doesn't bite....often."

"Neocromancer. Anyway, I'm Mikazuki. And you know, you don't have to me protect me. I greatly do that on a daily basis." Hopping off, Mikazuki disabled the dark shield. "Okay, so Vin, you are on my team? You do know that we leave in two days, right?"

 

Dreamer's bark broke the trance Clark was under "And it can talk......Wonders never cease" Clark starting typing descriptions of the 3 in front of him while asking questions to confirm his information "Ok so the pretty little beasty is Dreamer.....and the sorceress? Sakura.....and i guess that makes you with the giant blade Kyoko?" He finished typing everything. "That should cover it for now....My whole life is on this tiny little watch, If anything were to happen to it, i'd be doomed. Now what?" He said all the while smiling even though he just outed his biggest secret.

 

Vin nodded and relaxed, "Yes, ma'am. I'm ready to go whenever." He glanced at Ash and let his mind slightly wander off to the possibilities, "Ah, I hear my friend here is on the blue team. Any idea where they would be?"

Ash let the skeletal hand drop, "That's me. The Deathchanter Ash. Practicing necromancy is against natures law so Avalon was the only place I could go. Greetings Mikazuki." He stood at least a foot shorter than her and only came up to Vin's shoulder but his aura flashed with a gray blue light, the unrivaled power of the undead. It gave him an attitude of that of someone important.

 

Looking back from Sakura to Clark, Kyoko burst out laughing. "You just told two very powerful ninjas the thing you should'nt have told us." She said once she was finished busting her gut. "I mean it. You can't trust everyone you see." Dreamer slunk up to Kyoko and nudged her leg. "Dinner! Now! "When did I become your servant?"

Sakura flicked her wrist at Kyoko. "Shut up." She sighed, wrapping vines around her friend. "Anyway, yeah, Dreamer talks. He came that way." She told Clark, extending her hand so he could stand. "Usually, Kyo thinks with her head, and I think with my heart."

"Well, I think Kyoko and Sakura are here. They run the blue team. I've seen their cabin, so I can lead you there. But," Mikazuki teleported from her spot to right next to Vin. "You better not do anything, and I mean anything to spark up my aura senses. If it does, I will spin around, dagger in hand and behead you faster than you can say 'Don't'."

 

"All the same i wouldn't keep it so close if i didnt think i was capable of protecting it." He said shooting Kyoko a smug look. "Well I hate to be insistant but you girls are gonna have to take me in. I've got nowhere else to go and i think we know each other enough to sleep in the same.......House? Treehouse? How do you backwater people live?"

 

Vin nervously looked between his new leader and Ash. "Ah...It'll be alright ma'am. I'll watch him."

The corner of Ash's mouth turned up in a half smile at Vin and Mikazuki's words. As if! "Of course, no funny buisness. But you can't blame me; my aura does a few things not even I can control. The undead is a power not many can control." If he relaxed, he could feel the death under the dirt. Glancing out of the corner of his eye, he could see the threads that connected to the dead floating above ground. Each thread is a different person or thing that has died that I can manipulate. Each one with a different personality and fighting style.

 

"Backwater people?! Just to let you know-" Kyoko balled a fist, controlling her anger. "We. Will. Not. Let. You. Stay. With us." She hissed more clamly, turning her back to Clark. "Find a tree, there are lots of them." Kyo sent a vengeful look at Sakura, and then stomped off, instantly turning into a thick, blue mist.

Sighing, Sakura motioned for Dreamer to follow Kyo. After the wolf padded off, she turned her attention back to Clark. "Look, you can stay. Kyo didn't mean what she said about the tree. Come." She started to walk through the trees. "We'll show you how backwater we can be."

"Good." Whistling to Midnight, Mikazuki started her way through the damp woods. 'The girl's house must be around here.' She thought, taking a turn. Peering through some bushes, she saw a small path through a large clearing. "That's rigged." She sighed tiredly, taking a few steps back. "Okay, I'm going to jump over it, then when I motion for you to come over, come over quickly, got it?"

 

Romeo sat up,"What was i supposed to be doing?"

 

Vin blinked, "Huh? Rigged? What kind of people rig a pathway?"

Ash sighed, "People who don't want to be found. Don't you know anything Vin? Sometimes you just need to open your eyes to see what's right before you." Ash's eyes probed the area, not many deaths around these parts, more animal souls than human.

 

Romeo sat back down"I feel like taking a nap..."

 

"Sakura has done it. She's gone completely bonkers." Kyoko sobbed dramactically while she walked. Walking through a small path, her skin prickled, all nerve sensors on high alert. Jumping silently up a tree, she spotted a girl and two guys in the clearing that she had rigged. "That's the red team's leader!" She whispered, grabbing a branch above her. "Oh man, they probably spotted the traps. I've gotta do something."

Mikazuki never cast her gaze away from the clearing as she answered, "Correct. Pyschic rule number one, always use your powers. They come in handy most times." Then, she backed up two steps more and ran forward, leaping twenty feet over the clearing. Landing with an inaudible ease, she felt another set of eyes on her. And this time, they weren't friendly.

 

Vin opened his mouth and she jumped. "Ah, women. They never sit still long enough. Oh well. I'll have to tell her someday, I suppose." he smiled easily and copied Mikazuki's jump.

Ash sighed, he didn't have physical prowess like those two, but something he considered better. "Light in shadow, I command you, rise from your spiritual oblivion to aid my progression!" As he walked across his feet never touched the ground. Walking on spirits was easier to him than jumping over the rigged path. He kept a firm hold on the spirit's obedience as he moved.

 

Romeo stood up.I should find Kyoko...

 

Surprised, Kyoko let out a little shriek of excitement. Covering her mouth, she hoped she wasn't heard and took off, running across the trees. Jumping down, she landed on her feet, but quickly tumbled over in shock. "Ow!" She yelped, rolling in the grass for a second before stopping. "Why don't you watch where you lie-" Looking up, she saw a familar guy's face a couple inches away. "Romeo?"

Mikazuki watched as Ash and Vin easily got across, using their own ways. Just as Vin reached her, she heard a small shriek and turned, her hand held out to fend herself. Seeing nothing, she put her hand down and pat Midnight, who had come out of the shadows to guide them. "Mikazuki, why are they following you?" He sighed, pushing his ear down so she could scratch it. "Directions and Vin is apart of my team. Does it bother you?" Mid only gave a small turn of his head and stalked off.

 

"Wow,its only been a day and you forget my name?" He said with a grin.

 

Vin groaned as he watched Ash, "A bit lazy aren't you?"

"Not in the slightest. In fact I'm excorsising my abilities. Hmm, how far now?" he asked as he sent the spirit back to where it came from and brushed off non-existant dirt from his coat.
