    Will it fly into space?

In all seriousness though, an endeavor like this could turn out to be a blessing and a curse at the same time. A blessing in that he would have remade on of the most well-known water ships of all time, and a curse in that less people would probably want to get on the boat thinking that it's name is "bad luck" or something.

I personally think that this is a good idea. It's giving the Titanic name a second chance at being a popular liner again. And I'm sure at this point with today's technology, there's a much lower chance of the Titanic II accidentally running into a large object that nobody saw.

Unsure of how to feel about this.

This part touched me for some reason, haha. Well, best of luck to him, I guess.

Tempting fate a bit, but you can be sure they'd have the highest precautions. Titanic was a beautiful ship, a recreation that is seaworthy and up to date with today's technology would be a magnificent thing to see. Just so long as nobody claims it unsinkable or anything they should be alright.

Crazy Billionaires with their crazy ideas. I actually like this one. Just sexy it up a bit by saying "Hey, I'm already rich enough, maybe I should give a large percentage of my profits to a good charity that benefits my country/others abroad."

And with today's tech, it should be all good. And if I thought I could afford a ticket I'd go on the very same route and everything.

He's got a nice reason for doing it at least, but I'm not really all the certain on what I think about it all.
Hopefully things go smoothly for him though.

One thing I don't really understand is why people are determined to not let this tragedy sink into the depths of history. I'm sure there are quite a few individuals who would rather not be reminded about the loss of the Titanic. I mean they remade the movie in 3D recently, they made a TV drama series about it, and now this?

And the Starboard Bow will have R.M.S. Titanic II Made in China...

I personally do not like this idea of bringing back Titanic reincarnate. The idea itself is a noble one, and having the modern technology of the 21st Century is all well and good, but my stance is on the side of respect.

People died on Titanic, does no one understand that? Some may see this as a tribute, but I see it as a mockery of those that lost their lives in the cold depths of the ocean. What's honestly the point to almost literally remake the same ship over again? To test fate? To honour the dead? Make money? Its in no way honour to the dead.

As much as it's a cool idea (lol get it? Iceberg, coo- never mind), history must remain history. I find more appreciation towards the survivors and lost of the Titanic if it was the only Titanic. Having a remake is like overshadowing the whole event as if it never happened.

It's maiden voyage, how coincidental it will be the same as the Titanic's. They may have modern tech, but what's not to say that some loon won't try to sabotage it in the name of the past? What if Clive Palmer has something up his sleeve? I dunno, I just don't like the idea. Respect the dead and the era that they lived in. Don't attempt to defy Davy Jones' Locker in the name of homage.

let's just hope this ship doesn't end the same way as Titanic II in the Asylum movie. That ship just has a bad history. No offense to the name, but I don't think I'll ever be taking a ride on that cruise ship. Let's just hope they put enough life boats this time around.

Aren't said people dead by now or too old to care?

Even if it doesn't "honor the dead" it still doesn't matter. Though exactly why the Titanic sunk is still up to debate(yes, there's people who don't blame the iceberg) what happened that day was an accident. There's nothing bad about someone wanting to make a new and better ship than the original Titanic. The point of this isn't to overshadow the original, it's essentially a symbol of progress.

The only real threat(outside of...you know, the freaking ocean) to this ship is probably what you said. Some maniac wanting the ship to go down just like the original.

Anyways, I like this idea. I don't get why people would ever believe that the name "Titanic" is cursed. You all are a superstitious bunch, aren't you? It doesn't matter if he decided to call it "The Unsinkable Titanic II" or anything like that to "tempt fate". Names have nothing to do with the success or failure of something. Unless you're talking about advertising. >> Hopefully the ship's captain will be well trained and can actually pay attention to his job. And hopefully the ship's equipment will be both accurate and reliable. I personally would want to go on this ship but sadly I'm unsure if I would get sea sickness or not since I've been on only one boat(a raft) in my life.

You know, it would also help if that captain decided to slow down when he gets told to slow down. I mean seriously, the ship was sent a telegraph saying that there would be ice in the waters and they should slow down, but nope, that didn't happen. And while there's really no point in bringing this up, I still partly think that one ship which past by should have helped. I know they thought that the flares were fireworks, and not to be rude, but I seriously don't know how you mistake flares as a firework. Yes I know what they look like and everything, but I think the people just weren't paying enough attention

It may seem like a silly idea, but it's hard to imagine it happening again. I would ride on it if I could afford it. I always wanted to ride on the Titanic.
